This is a rather rubbish piece of poetry I wrote today, after finishing my First Aid at Work 4-day course....
This one's for Ian!
Thrown together haphazardly
At the last minute,
Both scared, alone, unsure.
In our minds we cower, afraid,
We put up barrier to keep all these new faces ot...
We introduce ourselves to each other,
Smiling a shy hello,
And stand awakwardly,
Waiting for the ice to crack.
And finally it does:
With one comment, a whole-hearted smile,
And a full bellied laugh,
The ice melts.
We grow coser, and become each other's crutch,
Trusting each other,
Depending on each other...
But Time is a never-stopping Chariot,
Thundering long the expanse of Space,
and changing Life with each turn of His Wheels...
And so, the friendship that began with a shy hello,
Abruptly ends with a shy goodbye.
