This is kind of a spinoff of the Ice cream post. What are your three favorite foods.

Mine are:

1 - Pizza
2 - Pasta(any kind)
3 - Chocolate

Rhiannon  27 Apr 2002
Some of my faves are:

1. Bread. I love bread. Carbohydrates are my downfall. (Sorry Dr. Atkins)
2. Roast beef dinner w/potatoes, carrots, onions, worcestershire sauce, etc.
3. Ranch dressing

I know the last one is kind of weird, but I belive you can put ranch dressing on almost anything and it will taste better. For instance: Pizza lovers! Next time you get a pepperoni pizza, dip it in ranch dressing. MMMMM, good.

Rhiannon :)

fairyhedgehog  28 Apr 2002
1. Chocolate
2. Pasta
3. More chocolate

"chocolate, the beer of women" (quote from my son)

btw, what is ranch dressing?

Regards,

FH

Kiama  28 Apr 2002
I'm female, I have weird cravings, please forgive this list:

3: Hash browns
2: Rice, cooked in chicken stock
1: Toast, thickly covered in butter and jam.

Aerin  28 Apr 2002
It does depend a little on my mood and how hungry I am, here is what I have on my cravings list today right now:

1. Roast beef with all the trimmings. (Lucky that Mr Aerin is cooking it right now, huh?)

2. Deep fried won ton with sweet and sour dip

3. Chocolate dipped meringues with a modest amount of whipped cream. Only if the meringue is a little soggy and chewy in the centre - not into the stuff which bears a strong relationship to white concrete

Aerin

Kaz  28 Apr 2002
1) fish, all sorts and kinds.
2) stews made out of all sorts of vegetables with loads of garlic
3) and a real dutch thing: patatje oorlog, this translates into "french fries with war" , it's french fries with mayonaise and peanutsauce :P

Ranch dressing is a salad dressing. Here's the link to the company. I'm just not quite sure how to explain it, but it's good. I often use the powdered form to make burgers or chicken as well. Like I said, it just makes everything better. (I sound like a commercial).

Thanks, Rhiannon :) I was somehow picturing it hot like chilli whereas it sounds more like salad cream.

Would this be while pregnant or not? :)

While pregnant -
1) ANYTHING from Taco Bell
2) Sonic (hamburger drive-in place) Frito pies - nasty salty corn chips covered in chili, cheese, onions, and peppers - and cherry vanilla Dr. Peppers
3) anything cold (including frozen milk)

While not pregnant -
1) Steak! Medium rare... yummy.
2) broccoli and cheese soup
3) homemade fajitas

Kiama  28 Apr 2002
Cricket: You've got me craving a nice juicy 8oz Rump.... Medium Rare... With nice thick steak chips and onion rings! (I work in a restaurant that's speciality is exactly this! Its called the Beefeater, so no wonder!)

And Emily: English mustard?! You barbarian! FRENCH MUSTARD! FRENCH! ;) My boyf and I are alway arguing (Play) over this: He likes English (Poor, misguided man,) and I love French. Needless to say, it is a topic we hold dear.. ;)

I love food. I enjoy meals, esp. when those meals are in a nice restaurant, and I'm all dressd up... (Doen't happen often!)

Whoa...okay, this is making me REALLY HUNGRY! Hmm...

1. WRAP SANDWICH! It's this weird tortilla wrap I make, you put cream cheese, jalapeno colby jack (or something like that...with some jalapenos in it) cheese, roast beef, and lettuce on it...served cold...yummy.
2. Salad. Any kind. NO DRESSING. I have an aversion to salad dressing, because I know too much nutrition information about it. (Scary.)
3. My sister's favorite high calorie meal to cook, one of mine as well--steak (mine better be, like, charred...I don't eat anything that can moo and walk on its own), boiled potatoes with sour cream and butter, french-cut green beans, and french bread. (Or, in keeping with the big words on the ice cream thread, you can call it foccaccia. Something tells me I spelled that wrong.)

*hugs*
Morgeinne

Phoenix  28 Apr 2002
OMG!! Morgeinne, that wrap sandwich sounds delicious. You must email me the recipe. And I think you spelt foccacia right, just with one too many "c's", but I could be wrong.

Morgeinne  28 Apr 2002
Phoenix...I'll post it here, in case anyone else wants it :) it's really easy to make.

INGREDIENTS (most quantities depend on how much you want on your sandwich):
Cream cheese
jalapeno pepper-jack cheese (now that i think about it, I think that's what it's called)
roast beef
lettuce
1 flour tortilla

Spread the cream cheese on the tortilla first, as thickly as you like, but make sure you cover one side with cream cheese. On top of that, put the roast beef, then the lettuce, then the pepper-jack...don't put a lot of pepper-jack though, and spread it evenly, because it tends to be really spicy :)

See...easy! :)

*hugs*

GOOD FOR YOU KIAMA !!!!!
Finally someone said it !!! Not because I am French or anything but I have always wondered how ppl can enjoy this weird stuff they dare calling mustard. Whether in the UK, Germany, Sweden, Finland and I suppose the US ....

Real mustard has to be french, sorry guys. It has to blow your nose away and burn everything inside you on its way down ;) (what a poetic conception of gastronomy ...)

See, my greatest achievement in life: my DH now only eats french mustard, except with these awful finnish sausages they eat here all summer, but then again, it would be such a waste to eat delicious mustard with these sausages ... In fact, my in-laws always have a pot of french mustard for when we come to eat at their place ;) Yes we can get french mustard here. No decent tarot decks, no pendulums or stones BUT mustard. Finland is on its way to civilization !!!!!!

Kissa

Kissa  29 Apr 2002
oh ! and as far as fave food is concerned :

1) pesto pasta !!!
2) proper veggie pizza, overloaded with fresh vegetables and oregano
3) veggie tacos

Quite typically finnish as you can see ;)

Kiama  29 Apr 2002
Kissa: We should have a French Mustard Rally! Tell the people of the world the Good News of French Mustard! Spread (No pun intended!) the word!

Kiama ;)

catlin  29 Apr 2002
Hey, I am GERMAN and I also LOVE FRENCH MUSTARD, especially the Dijon one!

Ok, my top 3 are:

1. Almond chocolate
2. baked fish with potatoe salad
3. hot fresh Italian bread with garlic and tomatoe sugo

Pl don't ask me about the calories/joule of that stuff.

catlin  29 Apr 2002
BTW Kissa and Kiama,

I should have known for fav for French mustard before, so we could set up a nwe trade: mustard for tarot decks :P :P :P

lunar_rabbit  29 Apr 2002
This thread is so entertaining, I just must join in! LOL

First, my three favs (at this very moment in time -- changes constantly)

1) steak or roast beef - medium rare with plenty of garlic, salt and pepper. Throw some old fashioned mashed potatoes on the side, and I'm in heaven.

2) Homeade pizza - with lots of goodies on it

3) lobster - but only IN Maine. Restaurants here in the midwest don't do it justice.

Secondly, I'm the doofus here, but what are the differences between French and English mustard. I am guessing that French mustard is dijon? What is English mustard? And does nobody like good ole American mustard? That bright yellow mustard that is essential if one is eating a hot dog at a baseball game? (not that *I* would EVER partake in such a thing...... LOL)

Umbrae  29 Apr 2002
French and English mustard have their uses. I love them both.

Somewhere back in this thread, somebody raked on me for listing coffee as a food.

This is Seattle! Coffee is a food. In fact, it is an important food group! You can disagree all you want…but a Starbucks is opening near you soon…nobody is immune.

Summerdream  29 Apr 2002
Ok, my favorite foods are:
#1. Steak-preferably cooked medium rare and must have A1 Steak Sauce...lol
#2. Pizza (Extra Cheese) Yummy!
#3. Pupu Platter with fried rice from Chinese Restaurant.

Kiama  29 Apr 2002
Rabbit: English mustard is the yellow stuff, and French mustard the brown stuff.

Kiama

kayne  29 Apr 2002
