I was stopped in the street today by a Greenpeace person, and she told me lots of stuff, aswell as these two scary stats... Scary Fact 1: We only have 20% of the Rainforest left Scary Fact 2: There are only about 1000 Blue Whales left in the world. There, so I thought you guys might like to know! Kiama

If you wanna read more into this kind of thing, then I urge you to read "Take it Personally" by Anita Roddick (the Body Shop founder). The book looks at environmental problems and other issues CAUSED and ENCOURAGED by big buisnesses. I found it a very upsetting, albeit illuminating, read. You can get it from your library if you are too poor to buy it (like me). This is an important book - you must read it! Don't sit there in the dark and plead ignorance as YOUR ONE AND ONLY PLANET is being destroyed, and its inhabbitants being used as slaves. Ok - soap box is free now ;)

Slinky Jo: At college at the moment in Philosophy and Ethics, we are learning about 'Busniess Ethics', and at the mo, we are focussing on how big businesses effect the environment, ad how there are some that exploit workers, not only in Third World sweat shops, but also in the UK and America, and who dump waste illegally in the sea cuz they can't be bothered to pay for it to be dumped legally. One company takes out a patch of rainforest the size of Wales every month, just so it can breed and graze cheap cattle, cheaply... (Mentioning no names here!) There are so many big companies that damage the environment, and generally exploit the world and people around us, just for profit. Its a sad, sad, world.... Scary Fct 3: The Irish Sea is the most radioactive sea in the world, due to big companies dumping nasty stuff illegally. Kiama
