Ok I have searched HIGH and low for a dark chocolate cake recipe. When I say dark, I mean DARK. I'm talking about the kind of dark that you have to take a doubletake at to insure its not BLACK (ok, ok, I'm kinda exaggerating). If any of you have ever tried Boston Market's chocolate cake, then you know what I mean. I want to be able to make this type of cake at home. Any ideas?

I found this in a Hershey's chocolate treasury cookbook sometime in the 80's and it's been my favorite ever since.
Black Magic Cake
- 1-3/4 c flour
- 2 c sugar
- 3/4 c cocoa
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 eggs
- 1 c coffee
(good for getting rid of the cup left over from the morning)
- 1 c sour milk
(alternate - 1 Tblsp. white vinegar + milk to make 1 c)
- 1/2 c oil
- 1 tsp vanilla
Preheat oven to 350* F. Mix together all the dry ingredients in one bowl. Mix together wet ingredients in another bowl. Add the flour mixture to the egg mixture a little at a time, making sure they blend well. Bake in a 9" x 13" pan for 30-40 minutes. (not sure of timing for round pans, but it's close)
***NOTE*** The toothpick test does not work well with this recipe!!! This cake is so moist the toothpick will come out stained, even if the cake is done. You have to be able to judge by the amount of color on the toothpick, but it tends to be on the 40 minute end for it to be fully cooked.
