Here we have a new President, that is the old one, I mean Jacques Chirac.
In response to the shock of Le Pen being his opponent in the second round, ppl voted massively for Chirac : 82 % ...
It is so very ironical as Chirac got the worst result ever as an actual president running for another mandate two weeks ago. He is corrupted and free only because of his connections and the presidential immunity. Did you know that the media, using the nickname invented by a humoristic programm, refered to him as "Super Liar" ???
So here we are with one of the worst president ever, getting an incredible score that you usually only see in Africa or South-America (where it is also usual to have corrupted ppl at the head of the country...)
The point of this message was to thank all of you who showed some concern about the first round results two weeks ago. It helped me a lot in regaining confidence in humanity ;) and created inside me an even deeper bond with the aeclectic community. Here is a place I love to be, it feels home (yeah right, I am sitting in my livingroom ok ok ... ;) ) yet everybody comes from different places has different backgrounds, lives, bodyshapes, ideas ...
it is a RAINBOW!!!

In a way, I feel sorry for Chirac: The only reason he was elected again is not because he's what the people want, but because the 'other guy' was a pig... This must be hard for Chirac.

It disturbs me that Le Pen still got 18 percent. I was hoping they'd hold him to 10 or less.

Kiama: don't feel sorry for Chirac! He's thrilled to bits, strutting around like a purple peacock. Can now finish his last five years in politics getting nice and rich and helping his buddies get nice and rich too. And will go down in history.
Geenius: some comfort is that some of these 18% are perhaps not politically aware enough to know what fascism is. They just hear a guy who tells them he's going to solve some very real problems. (Le Pen is very charismatic and has a way with words.)
Kissa: HUGS!

He got about the same amount of voices he got in the first round, not many much.
I am really anxious/curious to see how politicians and "normal ppl" will be dealing with this electric shock now. Is it going to change something or was it just a shock that politicians will smother and in five years we'll get a bigger earthquake ???

Couldn't have put it better than Diana.
It was really cute of you, Kiama to be worried about Chrirac.
But there are ppl out there I stopped feeling sorry for, these ppl have the enorm power of destroying lives or making them miserable and I don't think they ever feel sorry for the little ppl they had to step on to get where they are. I think you have to be very cold to succeed in politics that is at a national/international level, there is no room for feelings and not much time for regret and remorse about (lack of) moral. Just my opinion.
Diana, why are you insulting beautiful purple peacocks like that ????? ;)

I guess, being in the UK, I haven't had any experience of Chirac at all, (Could we go so far as to say I'm lucky?!) so I can't really comment on anything about this first hand. If Chirac was a 'normal' person, like some of the voters, I think such a'win' would be a bit hollow for him... But he sounds like a man who doesn't care, as long as he does win... :(

I just heard tonite that Le Pen got 400.000 more votes in the second round than he did in the first one. It is 6.000.000 altogether, says my sis. I know that some ppl living in really poor overcrowded areas with social problems can get angry at their "non originally french" neighbours and cast a racist vote. This, I can understand, it is not right IMO but it is understandable and unfortunately, humane ...
But what about these small idealistic villages in the countryside --where there is hardly any unemployment, immigrants, insecurity and in general problems-- who vote massively for Le Pen ???? These are the ppl who make me sick, they are "hate without reason" in my scheme, the worst...
