Ok Aeclecticans... Looks like I may be moving house in about a month or so and the house my friends and I are moving to will be great for parties!!! So of course, all I can think about is what the theme for the house warming party is going to be! :D :D :D It is going to be the middle of winter here in Australia so it can't be anything that involves getting skimpy (no toga parties then...) Also, it will be a very eclectic croud of people under thirty... (if that helps :P)
Any ideas?
Some parties we have had before:- Traffic Light Party: Where red if you are taken; Orange if you are open to new things
(but possibly taken...) or Green if you are single...
- Hat Party: We stood a big gold sprayed branch in enterance or the house and anyone that turned up without a hat had to choose one from the collection decorating the branch...
- Fridge Party: To welcome my new fridge into the house everyone had to where silver to match the stainless steel fridge...
- Groove-Lounge Xmas Party: Everyone had to dress so 60's groovy in red and green...

You probably will not consider this theme, but let me tell you what my boyfriend and his buddies came up with one day. They were watching sports, and someone left to go to the bathroom. When that person came back, this particular person was ticked off because a homerun had been hit while they were gone. Needless to say, they all started talking about a way that they didn't have to leave their seats, so they wouldn't miss any of the game. Thus, Independs Day was born.....
Every year around the Fourth of July,(this yr. is #4)they throw a party where the guys wear Depends.(diapers for adults) This year we are going to have a "best costume" category
For the decoration of the undergarmet. Some of the guys actually tried to "pee" in these things,(you had to be there)so they wouldn't miss anything on the games that they were watching on t.v. Sounds gross? Have a few beers with your buddies, watch a realllllyyy good game on t.v. and then wish you didn't have to go to the bathroom. You "might"even consider it then.

I don't know how old you are Kayne, and I hope you don't get offended by this idea!
I once went to a party where you had to dress up as an elderly person of the opposite sex! My male friend won the contest by dressing in a old polyester violet ensemble with white stockings and open toed sandals, with white wig and church hat (pill box hat) - also had a pink handbag! His prize was a bottle of sherry!! The ladies got to wear old men suits and have canes! V funny! Drinks were served - sherry, brandy, etc, and the music was stuff like Sinatra and the other Rat Pack-ers!
It was the best theme party I had ever been to!

Hi kayne.
Well, have a celebrity-party. This one needs invitations and a few people to help you out. Then you sit down together and decide who has to be who. No one is allowed to decide for themselves. For example, 'Lisa' is Madonna and 'Jay' is Arnold Schwarzenegger... Then you send out all the invitations, and all has to show up as their chosen celebrity. Best costume wins. :)

Why not go into the mystic, and dress as a figure on one of your favorite tarot decks? Or perhaps as your power animal? Or maybe as various gods and goddesses?Party on!!!

I was going to say a Tarot party of course, come dressed as your favorite card :)
Murder mystery partiesare fun, ut youd need tomake up a story and have some friends act it out with you. I played in one of these one, I was a drunken wife having an affair with my husbands (played by my real husband) business partner, and my husand and I hated each other lol. I got to be killed too, up in a balcony, and I had to scream lol. Apparently I was good at it, people afterwards thought i was married to the guy who was playing the business partner and that i hated my real world husband lol

I have some friends that every year throw a f* winter party. You must wear shorts, tropical shirts, sandals…etc. It is thrown in February. Around here, that means 37 degreed Fahrenheit and rain. The heat is turned up in the house. Everybody brings their instruments and it’s a big western swing/bluegrass jam session.
But I like the idea of formal cross-dress…in depends…

i belong to mensa. once a year every local group throws a weekend party. the best theme we ever had was monty python. we had a silly walk contest, a 'you know you're a twit when...' write up board, the comfy chair in the corner, and spam, spam, spam, wonderful spam!! and that was just to warm up!!!
it was a real blow out (nudge, nudge...)

Cross dressing certainly seems populay :P I don't think my friends would be into that... (They have to protect their Aussie images...)
So far I am thinking I might go for a Good vs Evil theme... What do you think? What should I wear?
My room mate and I are considering going as two sides of the same coin... me as the Good Pagan GreenMan and her as the Christian version of that: The Evil Devil... (I am looking forward to making the masks... :P)
