Greetings all.
I was reading Sorceress Jade's post in the New Members forum (http://www.tarotforum.net/showthread.php?threadid=3260) and was inspired to this discussion.
I've never really thought about this, but here goes:
This is the first forum (of many) I've been to, where I've never seen anyone throw crap at one another. I mean, really throwing some meaningless post out in the air, trying to provoce the whole forum. I guess we have great moderators as well! :)
I've been to quite a few forums, and it's amazing how much anger and hate there exists. And people just wanting to mess around with other people, treating them like doormats.
Take for instance Lonely Planet's Thorn Tree (http://thorntree.lonelyplanet.com/thorn/branches.pl). You have no idéa (!) how many tragic posts there are here! I spent some time on this forum before I went to Thailand, but there were so much crap about homosexuals, sex, sex, sex, dirty talking, porn, sex and sex that I felt really uncomfortable. Some times, however, one had the chance to discuss a matter properly with someone. Yet, there were this little crowd who systematically went through every post on the forum, harassing people. Can you believe it??! *grrrrr*
No, just wanted to praise Aeclectic for the great forum she is, and all you wonderful people who I'm becoming quite fond of! :)
Hugs and blessings in heaps to all of you,
~aeonx~

I totally agree. I've only been on this forum for a very short time but I immediately felt at home.
People here respect each other's opinions and are willing to help. On some forums, I feel very uncomfortable posting, especially when the subject is quite new to me.
I don't feel that here, even though I'm a real beginner at tarot. I feel that people here are willing to help and share their experience, and that's really great!!

Yea, that's a great thing: one can ask about anything, and always get nice replies. (Well, that's not entirely true, I've seen a few 'incidents'... However, never so cruelly intended as at other places.)
New people and tarot beginners can also ask what they might feel are 'stupid' questions, and you will get an explanation! And in 99,9% of the cases, a nice one. :)

Franky speaking, I can remember a time where the atmosphere at aecectic was even BETTER than today. There are some of the older a.netties who have left because of the change and the recent incidence with tarotbear and even myself thought about leaving so I checked several other tarot/pagan forums.
I found one pagan forum with tarot section where you found constant bashing and belittleing of others in a very rude language. There was a kind of verbal fight between so-called "Royals" and "normal" witches and a kind of spokes(wo)man of the "Royals" even tried to start verbal attacks at me but I can deal very well with that. I decided to sent a "love and light" posting to this person and that shut him/her up. Matters seem to get better there now.
There is a certain group of ppl (usually with very low self-esteem and pretty heavy personal problems) who love to hide in the anonimous atmosphere of the web and take advantage of it to start verbal attacks. I can only pity such folk.

I agree. If they have nothing better to do than bother people, their lives are seriously missing something.
I have also contacted a few of the 'misbehaviers', and actually a few of them apologized. They also left the forums afterwards. And again, some would tell me to go straight to he**.
I won't let that ruin my day! :)

YES YES YES
Is'nt it ironic that so called 'spiritual' people can't be kind ? I've seen some of these other forums and such. It's such a waste of energy.
WE ARE TRUELY OF LIKEMIND AND HEARTS HERE. It's amazing that we have not had someone coming in here wanting to stir...s**t. But maybe I'm wrong. I was away for a while.
SUCH A GREAT COMMUNITY WE HAVE HERE

When I first came to this forum, I was scared, cuz I've had bad experiences where no one would talk to me. I was afraid because I didn't know whether I would be accepted to the community. That has changed drastically. I've been to other forums where I was insulted by the members, and the administrator didn't do anything. I want to say a big thanks to Solandia and the other 1,100 + members on Aeclectic.net that makes this forum such a wonderful place to talk.

i agree with you all. we may have the odd upset, but all in all, this is an amazing place. solandia and her fair treatment of all is a big part of it, the moderators are another but the true gentle loving part of this forum is the members who post and consider each others feelings when responding to each other.
as moderators we really do very little in the way of 'asking members to play nice' - we don't have to....................you are all sooooo enlightened and you act, walk, and speak your talk!!!
in light,
jade :)

You said it...nuff said.
(I suppose it may be the difference between enlightened, and ego-lighted?)

i haven't posted that much so far - but i guess i will in the future.
one of the real charms for me with this forum is how international it is.
i love that i can write here in my wobbly english and not be laughed at. and that i can trade decks with people from finland, norway and germany and not only to the US (oh i love to trade with all you americans and canadians too)
of the forums i have seen out there this is the best of them.
i guess i have in the past been scared off from posting on other boards and that is why it takes me a bit of time to warm up in here (i have after all been reading these forums for quite some time now)
so i end this with a "thanks" to all kind tarot-addicts that make this place so interesting.

I agree with you Dragon - I've been to other forums where people are really unaccepting of anyone new or different too, it's not a very nice feeling to be on the receiving end.
But everyone at aeclectic is always so welcoming & helpful, I'm proud to say I'm a member!
Blessings

I have been a member of many different communities/message boards/forums...and I simply have to agree that Aeclectic is one of the very best out there...and perhaps the best. I just haven't visited them all so that I can say it.
Solandia has created a beautiful site and has intentioned it to be a kind, encouraging place to share, learn, and commune. And the members here are so wonderful at supporting her intentions. For a group this large, we have very few disruptions.
So thanks to Solandia and a hearty round of pats on the back for everyone here who makes Aeclectic the beautiful place it is.

I've learned alot since I started to use these forums, not just on tarot but other forms of divination. Its nice to know that there are other people who are just as interested and lots more informed than I am on my hobbies.
Also reading about problems other posters have, new spreads and the many different types and styles of tarot cards lol I had one tarot deck when I came here, Original Rider Waite now I have 7 (but I'm not buying anymore lol) . :)
