vice, n. Habitual indulgence in or proneness to immoral conduct, any particular form of depravity, a trick or tendancy that impairs grace and efficiency.
Alright Aclecticans, many of us have a bit of a weakness when it comes to collecting tarot decks and spending time on Aeclectic... what other vices do you have?

My worst vice has to be shopping (online and street shops) - I have to watch what I spend because I don't have that much money but when I've saved some, I spend it - not just on me though on my SO and toddler son. :)

FOOD! I love to eat. I don't as much as I used to, but I need to start exercising because all those years when I DID eat too much are catching up to me! LOL Besides, I have my reunion coming up in July... The excuse of "I've had 3 babies!" is starting to run a little thin since the last one is almost 3 years old.... *sigh*
My other vice is books, I LOVE to read. Which is why I don't exercise, cuz I'd rather read a book!

Hi,
My vice used to be going to the gym but as I can't afford it and I havn't got any fixed plans I've turn to eating TONS of Brazil nuts.
Zorya could picture me eating nuts a few weeks ago in "what can we pick up about eachother". Well ever since then I've been an addict. But I've been told that it helps the part brain that gets unbalanced and leads to depression, so it can't be bad as I'm just coming of of depression.
HELP!
I need to find a NA meeting! ha ha

my vices are (according to hubby the self-proclaimed eggs-pert): shopping and spending too much time on the computer. aimlessly talking on the phone for hours w/ my mother and never getting to the point. doing anything to avoid housework--i think i'm allergic myself. ;) why do vices have to be some of my most fav things in life to do? :D

of course my virtues far outweighs my vices but here they are:
buying books (i am a librarian and could just as well borrow them)
buying decks (no one really needs 40 decks or even 10 decks)
candy (sugar addict)
i worry too much and get over-emotional a lot. somehow that is not all bad - it is just who i am.
i detest shoes and socks
i leave a trail of things (books, decks, teacups and pencils) and clothing where ever i go.

I have the same vice of slinky_jo...
And, I am loud. I tend to shout rather than speak.

My vices: candy (chocolate!), buying far too many books (and everything seems so cheap since we started using euros ;) ), spending too much time at my computer (I didn't before I discovered Aeclectic, honestly...), staying up far too late...

WE have a bit in common here, NO pink and a flock of dragons, BUT THIS IS NOT IMMORAL !!!or lacks grace.
KAZ, I with ya' there. But my habit is NOTHING like the general population. It takes me about a week to go through a pack. My mom told me, too much of anything will kill ya' AND everything in moderation. She has 1 smoke before bed, that's it.
Gosh, I know I'm far from perfect.???
THIS PLACE>>>>it's too much fun....not immoral, darn...Um..I like to drive fast, but it's at 3 in the morn and no ones around....
nutterbuttersandmilk
SLEEPING OK that's it! ie tendancy that impairs efficiency. but these days I have an excuse. It seems like I'm sleeping all the time, I really only get 6 or 7 and that comes in pieces throughout the day, bartender/single mom thing.
When I was not working a job. I would sleep lots, I induce it with a good book.
OH! oh ya...PROCRASTINATION...out comes the capricorn. I stay on top of the really important stuff, but there are just somethings......

Too much coffee (which is not, as Umbrae supposes, food, but is definitely a liquid beverage :P ).
Some cigarettes in the evening (3-4), but never indoors - I can't stand the smell of cigarettes in closed places.
And I yell rude things at drivers who don't take off the second the traffic light turns green (they can't hear me, fortunately). But if they're elderly, then I don't mind.

Actually, mine's quite weird - I love to supermarket shop. I adore supermarkets! My boyfriend has to drag me out of the place each week before I totally blow our food budget ... on chocolate & organic fruit & blue cheese & fresh pesto & special catfood & herb breads & fresh spices ... and don't get me started on those wonderful asian specialty stores *sigh*
Go on Red Raven, give us a few examples - I need to expand my repetoire! ;)

1. Chocolate
2. Espresso
3. The local Borders Book Store
4. Smoking
5. Procrastination
Numbers one and two are especially good when mixed and taken after shopping in number three.

OOPS!!! I forgot that too... And it is even better for me:
I can swear in Italian, in Neapolitan and in English!!!
Depends on how many people I'm sorrounded by, and how many of them I want to understand!
*For example, when my sister and i take the bus together, we start swearing in English, and laugh... like idiots... but it is fun! :D*
*And, when we used to go to English classes, we would swear in Neapolitan... The Teacher was so interested in Neapolitan Folklore! LOL!!!*

Arguing. I'll argue anything: Even if I don't agree with what I'm arguing for! I just argue... I guess its all that Philosophy I've been indulging in.. })
The problem is, not everyone understands that when I argue I am not actually arguing against them but against what they are saying! My Mum is one of these people, and keeps on accusing me of being closed minded because she doesn't quite get my way of arguing... She assumes that just cuz I respond to her POV that I don't listen to that POV, and don't accept it... Not true!
Anyway, that's my current vice.

i'm having a cigarette right now....
That's about my only vice but I have a lot of pet peeves:
people who...
- stop dead at the top of an escalator or stairway
- nervously push elevator buttons
- grossly make-out in public
- cut out in front of me then drive ridiculously slow
- throw garbage out of car windows
- leave their pets in their cars while they're in a store
- take a full 3-person seat of the train for themselves
- use lame pick-up lines
And my idiosyncracies?
- excessive hand-washing
- buying something, leave the tags on and then return it (bad bad!!)
- waiting til I'm running on fumes before putting gas in my car
- not closing windows when it rains
- never balancing my check book
oh dear, I'd better shut up!

Too much time on the computer and not enough time cleaning my apartment...
...too much time spent in bookstores (used and new)...
...a sweet tooth that doesn't quit (hearing someone use the phrase, "that's too sweet for me" makes me LOL)...
...buying too many tarot decks, too, of course. I'm working on a way to hang them from my ceiling since I have no room left to store them on floor level.
I have more, but that's all I'll admit for now! ;)
Peace,
Melvis

My worst vice is a little thang I call: exercise avoidence. LOL
Actually, this probably ties into my innate inpatience. I want results *now*. I don't want to stand in line - ever. The karma gods have their little fun with me on this one....no matter what line I stand in, it always ends up being the slowest!!!!!

Just noticed that I started this thread and have not even mentioned my vices!
You all know one of them... not finishing tarot decks I have started! Am working on that one...
Another bad one (and probably why I am so thin...) I don't eat when I am doing stuff... and the stuff doesn't have to be much. On the weekends I can spend all day on the computer (Aeclecitc and designing stuff in PhotoShop mainly...) and not go to the kitchen till about 6pm and suddenly realise - I am starving!!! But generally I don't eat much...
Another: Ignoring my car when it really needs a service... and it may as well be a convertable, the windscreen leaks so much in the rain...
That's a start...

My vice...cursing, is one. I don't curse much, but I'm not supposed to at my age, and I definitely have to watch myself when my mom is around. Another would be...reading and writing and dancing and using the internet...all 4 of those take up most of my time.

Idiosycrisy (sp?): calorie counting. I do it obsessively. I don't care how fattening or fat-free the food is, I won't eat it if I don't know the cal content.

Here goes:
1 - Swearing: Sometimes that frustration can only best be expressed with the f word.
2 - spending money on things I don't need (tanning) I try to explain to my mom that my olive skin tone looks yellow if I don't have a tan..but she won't listen.
3 - buying nice undies (a girl just feels good when she's got on expensive underwear.)
4 - (DeLani and faunabay will know what I am talkign about) I like those reiki charged candles from Passages that are already herbally scented...bought some more today. Love the votives..they are so much cheaper than the big ones...oh incense, books from there too.
