I was playing a greatest hits CD by Queen in my car yesterday, and now one of their songs is still lingering in my head: who wants to live forever...
So I thought: great question!! ;)
Personally, I don't think I would want to live forever, especially not since I read the vampire series by Anne Rice :D
I would be curious though to come back every once in a while to see how things are going, say every 100 years or so.
How about you?

I extually believe i get to go back every once in a while, its called reincarnation ;) :)
I would never want to live forever! Unless everybody does and than extually i would not want it either.
I would like more experiences like being a boy, bing born in America etc.
Great song by the way and i love the movie. Hmmm but i think the serie is even better.... ;)

Yes, ok, I believe in reincarnation too, but then you get to be another person in another environment (at least, that's what I believe, I might be wrong of course...).
I would like to go back to my own environment, see how my family is doing etc....

I wouldn't want to live forever either but it would be good to be able to come back and see how my family had progressed. Its like when you look at old photo's of long dead relatives and wonder what they were like or hear family stories of relatives you've never met and wish you had met them lol :)

Hi, Tarotlady!
I believe that we do live forever - just not in this guise! And I think it's going to be fascinating - sometimes I don't want to wait (don't worry - I know I have to!). On the occasional bit of astral travel I've come back here very disappointed - the colours and the light just don't compare.
I also believe that you get the opportunity to look in on friends and family whether over here or over there, time travel - the lot. However, we're here at the moment and there's certainly plenty to be getting on with!
And I'm with you on reincarnation - life just doesn't make sense without it: one shot at getting all this stuff right?!

I believe that we do live forever. I'm becoming more interested in the idea of reincarnation; after all eternal life would only become boring if you accumulated all your experiences and memories and carried them with you. While you do grow between lifetimes, there's always somethings that you can't remember or haven't yet experienced - so you can't get bored. Or maybe....
On a more physical level, when you die, whether you're buried or cremated or eaten by hippos, all your constituent parts are reabsorbed into the earth or atmosphere or other living creatures, and so continue to be - I find this a very comforting thought; that I'm a constituent of this great cyclical system, and I see no reason why the same thing can't apply to the soul/spirit/ consciousness. Perhaps the consciousness dissipates and reforms in new shapes, maybe each new being is made up not of an entire previous soul, but of constituents of many; each providing their own unique characteristics.
Just typing my meandering thoughts......

I guess the hardest thing would be seeing everyone around you die, and not being able to yourself...not sure I could take that...
But, if I could set up home in a really big library somewhere, and pop out every so often to see the world...as long as I never, ever had to open any kind of contact...

so the "who wants to live forever?" song by queen is on their greatest hits album? i am a big highlander fan-the tv series not the movies. adrian paul as duncan mcleod is simply to die for! (pun intended) i love that song. i've seen it in highlander catalogues but i didn't know it was on anything by queen alone.
as to the question, the answer is NO! i've often questioned my sanity over everything i've set out to do this time around. living forever to take on more tasks? <<<<<>>>>isn't it easier to take a break, change "clothes" and have a post lifetime analysis before doing it again? i believe an occasion vacation is good for the soul! LOL

I don't think I'd want to live forever... But I would like a bit more time in this life, and a bit more time of being young and healthy... So much to do, so little time... ;)

I agree, I think it would suck to live forever (in the same lifetime). I think that in Heaven we get to come back occassionaly and visit our loved ones here on Earth. But since a big chunk of the majority(including me) doesn't know how to look through the veil that stands between us and the other world, unfortunately most of us don't even notice when someone has came to check in on us. Our pets can see more easily than we can I think though. But yes, I think that we (our souls) live forever in Heaven.

No thanks...I'm having enough trouble with this one! To live forever...would be torture!
Still, I confess it would be really cool to see how civilization & socities change over time, but I suspect it's a bunch of romantic hoo-ey...I mean, is anyone in 2525 really going to look nostaglically at 1986??????
Off-topic - I love this series, too. Adrian Paul...mmmmm mmmm good! The Raven series sucked, though....I liked the first movie, but not any of the others.....

Yes, I'd like to live forever in my current form. Ok, I believe in reincarnation and I know a bit about my former lifes but this is still not enough.
B/W, I adore Queen (my fav CD is "Made in Heaven", although I do not like the Bohemian Rhapsody). I also like Highlander, Sean Connery as Ramirez was just cool. Of course I also watched the serie.

Yes, I definitely want to live forever. Why not? If we assume that there is no such thing as life after death or reincarnation, then what's the point of hanging around anyway if you're just going die? The only way to really make an impression on the world is if you're there until the end of it.
As for living eternally in some spirit world, well if that's there then I'm set. I'm not really too thrilled with reincarnation myself, especially since no one seems to be able to remember the things they've done in their past lives. I know that doesn't really have anything to do with the whole spiritual purpose of reincarnation, but what can I say? I just don't see the point.

Houklani
