how many rare pets there are.

i have 7 birds (****atiels and budgies :D) my newest is a rare white faced ****atiel......just beautiful named clarity. serenity and peace have welcomed her with open wings heehee

2 dogs

6 cats
inanna, astarte, phantom, sienna, harley, kerne
2 ratties

i know that we will be getting more birds in the future and hopefully be rehoming my ratties before the winter.

A whole section just for me? How nice! I know the ohter bunny owners on the board will be thrilled! lol! I have A dog, Lady and A Bunny, Bebe. I also have two fish and two hermit (no, not the card, tarotholics!) crabs.

Helruna  21 Jul 2002
Currently, we "only" have ratties - exactly 16 due to an "experiment" my silly husband made on a night he was drunk, putting the females with the males... luckily, he only (oh well, technically NOT HIM, but one of the male rats) one female pregnant... phew...

BB,
Helruna

RedWood  21 Jul 2002

tabbycat  21 Jul 2002
Currently 5 cats - Cally, Pit, Dread, Mojo and Ozymandias. Cally's the eldest at fourteen and Ozzy's only seven, so he's still the baby!

Jilly

jema  21 Jul 2002
i have two cats and one mini-hamster.
i did sort of make myself a promise some time ago that when the hamster dies (will be a while yet, she is only about 1 year) i will not get another animal in a cage.

but, i grew up in a pet-shop. my first buddy was a boa:)
i used to have a man-hating parrot when i was 11. his name was charlotte (due to some misunderstandings)
now i don't want a big parrot but i might like a small bird. not a budgie - something like a finch perhaps?
i probably won't buy a bird. but it is fun to look at them:)

lunalafey  21 Jul 2002
snakes are reptiles.
left out a catagory....munchkins.....

VGimlet  21 Jul 2002
I have 2 dogs, 1 very big and 1 extra huge.
3 cats, 2 birds (african grey parrot and a cockateil) , 1 turtle and a 130 gallon fish tank with misc. fish.

I have also had -
1 hedgehog, 1 opossum, 2 ducks, an axiotl (salamander), 2 spiny mice, 1 guinea pig, and a dwarf rabbit.

All of the above lived to *very* advanced ages for their species before going to the Rainbow Bridge. People always joke that we feed our animals fountain of youth food. Except for the ducks, who deserted us for the lake at the end of the road.

The only exotic I would like right now is either a chameleon or an african frog. I don't think I'd get another big bird, we are old enough now that we'd have to worry about someone taking care of it after we die - and I worry about that.
Oh, and Ken and I have a deal, no snakes; no spiders.

Red raven  21 Jul 2002
Dog. Named Casey. I think she's a border collie/lab/ some kind of pointer. Fun to play with, though not that bright. ;) (Walks into windows all the time!)

want to get a lizard but my mom has a phobia surrounding repties.

Starfish  21 Jul 2002
I have one yellow lab/golden retriever mix named Daisy, 3 cats and 2 beta chinese fighting fish.

:T7C Starfish

Mermaid  21 Jul 2002
One cat only so far! I want to get another kitten, but my cat is so fierce, antisocial and jealous of her mum I think she'd probably run any newcomer off the property... :(

Sam  21 Jul 2002
nevermind...the joke was sencored! damn!

floracove  21 Jul 2002
My sweet little angel babies!
Love em!!!

Kismet  21 Jul 2002
I have one kitten and two hermit crabs.
The crabs aren't named, the kitten depending on which of my children you ask is named "Cali", for calico, or "Pookie-Pookie",lol.
Love and Light,
Kismet

amyel  21 Jul 2002
Bunny: Everest. He's a character!

Cat: Nigel. She's grumpy...maybe because she's a girl cat with a boy name. Maybe she just doesn't like the rabbit.

We had a hamster but he died a few months ago.

I fell in love with a bee-u-ti-fo dog a couple weeks ago, who wandered into our yard one very hot day. I gave her some water and she laid down my feet and let me pet her. She was a very large, blonde husky/german shepard mix. She had her visit & left...but I'm still smitten!

divinerguy  21 Jul 2002
Got a dog named Sherlock, my best buddy.

A snake named Phil.

And bird named named Peanut. We sometimes refer to him as Hannibal Lector, as he gets a bit snotty at times.

Jimilyn  22 Jul 2002
I have two dogs (a terrier mix named Ceili and a Papillon named Ruby) and a bird (a cockatiel named Buttercup).

Jimilyn

kayne  22 Jul 2002
My cats Max and Morgan and my fish Will & Grace...

But what I really really really want is a...

Green Tree Snake from the Queensland rainforest...
(but I think that is illegal in the city...)

And a...

Sulphur Crested Cockatoo!!! :D:D:D

catlin  22 Jul 2002
Ok, for all the newbies here and the ones which have never heard me talk about my 4 furry feline familiares:

Adi, 7 year-old Blue Persian, Toby, 6 year-old Golden Shaded Persian-Maine-Coon-Mix, Benny, 6 year-old red Persian-knows-the-Goddess-what-Mix and Lucky, also about 6 years old, a Turkish Van (very bossy with a likíng for human flesh)

jade  22 Jul 2002

WolfSpirit  22 Jul 2002
I have three cats, two big silent cats (one smart and one clumsy) that are brothers;
they got company from a small noisy female stray cat who weaseled herself into the family and bosses them around.
If I had more space I would probably have a zoo by now.

mermaiden  22 Jul 2002
I don't have any! :( I used to have fish when I was about 4 and also when I was 11 or so but my mom doesn't want any animals in the house (even though there was a time in '97 when I was nagging her for a ferret). LOL I want a cat now but I have relatives that are allergic to fur that come over often and I think my mom might be allergic too. *ugh*

Aquahectate  16 Aug 2002
Hey, I have Three Dogs , Karma a dogue de bordeaux (Turner and Hooch dog) Belle Whippet X Blue Healer and Nanook who is a Border collie X. I also have three cats Cleo, Narla and Mushu and two budgies Duck and Goose

Om Shanti
Gisele

Bella  16 Aug 2002
I have:
2 (old)dogs-Vixen (a yellow lab mix) and Dingo (a terrior/shep mix), both adopted from a shelter
2 big aquatic turtles-Lucy and Ricky
2 parakeets-Bluebell (blue) and Dandelion (green)
and 3 rabbits-Hazel (a chocolate Rex), Fiona (orange and black harlequin), and Snow (white, american std.), who my husband found in the street after Easter.
I used to have cats, and i'd like to again. my husband wants a big parrot, but they are way too expensive...$2000, and almost $1000 for a cage!!! (and I don't know if it would bother my rabbits).

Minderwiz  16 Aug 2002
We have four cats and believe me they're not solitary at all.

Cats are definitely best, we've tried parrots, gerbils, hamsters, budgies, tropical fish, coldwater fish, and daughters

Liliana  16 Aug 2002
Well I didnt have any when this was posted but we got a goldfish (actually he is silver with a little gold) named metal

In a couple weeks I might get a beta, as we want to get Metal a bigger tank to himself due to what my husband reasd online. Apparently all goldfish can live a very long time and grow huge, but they have to have a big tank to themselves to have room to grow. So thats what we are going to try

Betas on the other hand live fine in a small tank so my beta will get the little tank the Goldfish is in now

:THP

jade  16 Aug 2002
goldfish do get big......you should see the ones in my pond out back!

jade

edited to add: we just discovered that peace....out cockatiel is a boy!

Kaz  16 Aug 2002
i have two dogs, both are national dutch breeds:

I *think* my client co-lead where I work might have us all beat. She has:

5 cats
3 rescued greyhounds
1 Amazon Blue parrot

She had a yellow headed cockatoo, but they gave her away, as the bird was getting cranky with all the other pets.

She wants more pets, too! They finally bought a house just outside the city on a half acre - you can see why!

Supletion  16 Aug 2002
i have a pair of white pigeons, but i would want a cat to badly :(

my friends has a dog, three cats, some mice, fish, guinea pigs (those little hamster-like things.. im not sure about the english name), and quite alot of rabbits running around, a real zoo ;)

Strega  17 Aug 2002
We have over 20 dogs in the house... I sort of stopped counting after the 20th arrived. :D

napaisti  17 Aug 2002
Just 2 black cats. Vachon is my baby boy (ok, so he's 2 yo), my boo-kitty, my 'fraidy cat, my little Javier. And Janette, is my fat cat, Sweetie, Mlle. duCharme whom I got from the shelter to keep Vachon company while I was a work. I'd have more but I'm not sure a) that I could afford them, and b) my holy terrors wouldn't drive them out hissing and bowing. :)

Two new Kittens one is all black (Spook) the male and an a black female(Pookah) with just a bit of white on her chest.

I do believe that they actually are in the owning department.

In a time long ago I grew up with one cat, one dog, one parakeet, numerous fish, one snake, 32 white mice and a few pidgeons.

mooncat2  17 Aug 2002
5 beloved old cats, 2 new ginger kittens, 2 dogs - a black retriever and a corgi, 1 horse named Daisy, some hens and a rooster and an assortment of cattle.

Fiona Blackwolf  17 Aug 2002
In my house we have 1 dog, Pike , who belongs to my bf

3 cats
Penny...all black 7 yrs old ...she is loudmouthed and can be mean and spoiled but she is beautiful (and mermaid.. she was so posessive of me as a kitten that we HAD to get a 2nd cat just to socialize her and give her someone to play with while i wasnt home, lol)

Larry.. grey & white 7 years old ...He is my baby and my angel ...you get the idea

and Mahli white & beige half siamese, about 2 years old. We got her from the shelter. She is cute but boy is she a pistol.

and we have about 15 fish in a 55 gal aquarium.

Sulis  18 Aug 2002
A cat called Alien, a carp called Crusty Rusty and 2 gerbils who have no names because they both look the same.

Blessings

Crystalmynx xx

jade  18 Aug 2002
you name a carp but not your gerbils?

come on....you gotta name them.........pleeeeeeeeease.

jade

Sulis  18 Aug 2002
Jade, I know, I feel terrible about the no name gerbils, they`re my son`s gerbils though and he`s never gotten round to giving them names. I think that originally they were supposed to be Zig and Zag but we didn`t know which was Zig and which was Zag so they just ended up being `the gerbils`, terrible I know , I have no real excuse.

Mithrea  18 Aug 2002
I have one cat. She is solid white with one blue eye and one green eye. Her name is Daizey and she is deaf. She's alseep in my lap right now :)

jade  18 Aug 2002
for fun....... let's name them!

how about two names that are pronounced the same but spelled different.

that way you can call them the same name but they have different names.

*clever*

so..........what would be a good play on names.......

jade

Sulis  19 Aug 2002
Jade, you are so clever, what a good idea. My son is away on holiday with his dad at the mo but when he comes back I will insist that he gives these poor animals names!

Crystalmynx xx

jade  19 Aug 2002
so the poll tells us that more aeclectians are owned by cats than any other pet!!!

all hail the mighty poll.

cyan  23 Aug 2002
2 cats, one is a Fraidy Cat, Raven, and the other is blind, Tigger, but boldly goes wherever he can find his way with his wiskers. Also a schnauzer, Sallie, who is a love of my life...and she says to tell you she is very fierce and brave, unlike that wimp Raven...who is claiming he is just cautious.
