While picking out music to listen to I noticed I have 848 songs!!
And I can't imagine doing without one of them. :)
So I thought I'd ask, what is your favorite song and why?
What about a music video? Did you ever feel one spoke to you?
Love and Light,
Kismet

Lots of songs have "spoke" to me over the years, for a variety of reasons. The song my husband & I have always thought of as "our song" is "Have I told you lately that I love you" although we can't agree on whose version is "best' - he likes Rod's, I perfer Van Morrison's - we both like the Cheiftains' version.
Recently - well, in the past year - I have really be drawn to "Drive" by Incubus.

I have over a 150 CDs (I think...) and usually I only play the latest ones that I got. But every now and then I like picking out CDs that I haven't played for ages, it's really fun to "rediscover" my own music collection! Which is why I'm currently playing a lot of music by the Waterboys... ;) And Faithless, some CDs I got recently.
I don't really have one favourite song, it depends on the mood I'm in.

Bach—Three Pieces For Lute—classical guitar by the maestro, Andres Segovia
Engraving found inside of a 15th century lute--
viva fui in silvis
sum dura occisa
securi dum vixi tacui
mortua dulce cano
I was alive in the forest
I was cut by the cruel axe
In life I was silent
In death I sweetly sing
"Without music, life would be a mistake."—Friedrich Nietzsche

ps-- i think i prefer the 6th to the 9th (i play a lot of classical for my altzhiemer's people). and mozart's a lot of fun, and so is vivaldi. the 1812 overture (but where is the 1812 musical/opera????) with the real chimes and cannons is great to play at full blast on a saturday morning at sunrise })....
if you can get away with it

Tori Amos is my all-time favorite. Her lyrics are all so deep...so real.
I've had my run of favorites, all female vocalists usually, another is Eva Cassidy. Her cover of Sting's Fields of Gold is absolutely moving. Tall Trees in Georgia is a must hear too!
Fionna Apple keeps me strong, Alicia Keys makes me dance and I've never heard Annie Lennox sound so feminine and soft as on her album Medusa.
I think I'm drawn to the female vocalists because I like to sing myself.
I'm glad someone brought this up because music speaks to me too and is as important to me as Tarot has become.

Musicaphelia could have been my middle name, I think. Bring on the Music Geek, I can take im'!
Gosh, picking favorites for me is like picking the favorite times of my life. I just cant do it. My ipod has about as many songs as you do Kismet, plus about 500 cds and I lost count of the cassettes from my earlier days.
I have headphones on my ears nearly everyday at work (luckily they are tolerant of that behavior as long as I can hea the phone ringing.)
Right now I seem to be stuck in themes, one is the Appalachian/Oh Brother Where are Thou Feel.
I also had the new Lloyd-Webber cd shipped to me from England. This is Bombay Dreams, very much Hindi based, with a couple of exceptions- I love it.

fav video(s): 'In Repair' by Our Lady Peace. Oli Goldsmith is an amazing director. oh yes, and 'Everything is Automatic' by Matthew Good Band. they get my vote for creative (over)use of billboards :P
my favs in no particular order:
'To close to the sun', David Usher (Damn, is his stuff ever diffirent when he's solo! Anyne else here a fan?)
'Wish you were Here', Incubus (just a great, relaxing song.)
'Somewhere out there', Our Lady peace
'If it feels good, do it', Sloan (My personal mantra.)
'Holiday', the Watchmen
Ravenswing:YES! Good song, too!
Oh, and I almost forgot! 'American Pie', though the artist escapes me at the moment. (No, NOT Madonna! I thought her version was horrid!)

I have too many fav's to mention, i don't think i could live without music, it is one of my favorite things of all time.
I love fleetwood Mac, Elton John, Van Morrison, Rod Stewart, our wedding song is Lonestar's "Amazed" and Rod Stewarts version of "Have I Told You Lately" was played in the church,
But my favorite music of all would have to be anything "Mowtown"
Soul and R&B, Those guys are born with the moves and the voices to go with it...........I love it!!!
Cheers

American Pie was written by Don Maclean, on the album of the same name. I saw him sing it without his band. Just him and his Martin guitar. Life was good.

I think I have all their CDs by now, and there are some really great songs on it. Some really good lyrics too (one of my favourites: If loving you is wrong, I don't wanna be right...).
I saw them live a few months ago, but I didn't really like the concert. It probably had to do with the fact that we had really bad tickets, so we were sort of outside the concert hall looking in, as if we weren't really there... :-( We just couldn't get into the mood of the concert and even left before the end...

Wow! There's way too many songs and artistis! I like basically all genres of music so it's hard for me to choose. I have been playing Loreena McKennitt's "The Vist" CD as well as Sarah Brightman's "Classics" CD a lot lately though. I really love Loreena McKennitt; her music really speaks to me. If you haven't heard of her, I urge you to check her out; espeically if you love Celtic music. :)

It was also the first time I heard Youssou N'Dour's voice, who does the backing vocals on it. I completely fell in love with Youssou N'Dour's voice and I think I've bought about all his CDs since... ;)

I have a special place in my heart for the Seventh symphony of Beethoven. Second movement makes me cry! As does Since we've Ended as lovers by Jeff Beck.

Everything by Melanie - and I don't mean either of the pseudo-Melanies who used to be in the Spice Girls, but the real, original one whose surname used to be Safka (not sure what it is now, since she re-married) I LOVE all her songs and she does some great covers of other people's stuff, like Jim Croce's 'Lover's Cross'. and an incredible slowed-down version of 'I will survive'.
I really like folksongs with a supernatural element, like 'Reynardine' and 'She moved through the Fair', and poetry set to music, if it's done well, like Vicki Clayton's 'Movers and Shakers', Van Morrison's 'Ratcliffe Road' and the version of 'The Lady of Shalott' by ?Loreena McKennitt.
As for a wide choice of music to listen to, no problem there! I live with a manic music-collector and 3500 (and rising) CDs, not to mention the ever-flowing stream of stuff downloading from the Net!
Jilly
(sorry for the spelling mistakes - I can't sprol to sav my liff today!)
