Back in October last year, when I was applying to Universty, I hd to write a Personal Statement to send to the Uni's I wanted to go to... Anyway, so I wrote my statement, and sent it off, but it had to be read by the teachers first to make sure it was okay...
Anyway, about 2 months later, I get called into the head's office (Really scard!) and told that they were gonna use something I wrote as their school motto. (Y'know those Latin sayings English schools have?) So, I said okay.. And ddin't think anything of it until a few nights ago. My parents have just managed to get my litle sister into that schol which I have just left, ad this head teacher came up to thm during the new parents' meeting, and told them that they were gonna re-do the whole of the front entrance, including having my words carved into a stone plaque and place on the schoool! My words! And they want me to go back in December time to open it! Talk about leaving my mark on my old school! }) I feel sorry for my little sister, cuz she's got tough a act to follow.
So, I thought I'd just have a bit of a boast. My parents are dead pleased, and can't stop telling people about it... I can't wait for December!

They're really tacky words, but I was desperate at the time I wrote them...
"I believe in using what you have, instead of mourning for what I do not. In thirty years time, I want to be able to look back at my youth and know that I used my talents fully: That I wasted nothing."

Keep thinking- someone has to..

Kiama, your words are beautiful!
Oh and by the way;
younger brothers and sisters always have a hard act to follow.
It's just some of the fine writting that comes with the job...
More than likely posted somewhere within the womb!

Kiama,
Those were lovely words expressing a wonderful goal! In fact, we should each be thinking that about each day of our lives and looking back 30 years, 20 years, 10 years, 5 years, 1 year, 1 month, yesterday...no matter how old we are.
I'm sooooo pleased for you.
Hugs,
Jimilyn

They're not tacky at all, but they contain a grievous pronoun disagreement error ("what you have . . . what I do not"). An excusable mistake in a student application essay, but I sure hope the school cleans it up before carving it into stone! It is a school, for Pete's sake!

Does Kiama make anybody else around here nervous? Goddess help us if she ever gets the "World Domination" bug. Whole countries would just hand over their armies to her! LOL ;)

Kiama - I join everyone here in congratulation... YAY!!!!! Future grads SHOULD be more aware of their true talents and encouraged to pursue them. I hope your words succeed in making a profound impact. Good for you! We'll all be there in heart and spirit at the "dedication". BTW - where are you going to uni anyway? Whatever the school, they better be prepared (and proud) to have such a brillant mind ito challenge the student body!

Geenius: My mistake Luckily, the quoe I wrote here was me trying to remember it. It the actual thing, it has 'you' in both the phrases!
