Rant!!!!

When I read the thread "The word God". I had a few thoughts cross my mind but didn't share. I thought a different thread would be more appropriate as I'm now ranting. :)
It offends me you can go to a high school football game and hear GD, f*ck, etc, etc, but let a prayer be said for both teams, the kids safety and God's name be mentioned and Ooooohhhh....You've said a dirty word. What ever happened to "Freedom of Speech" and my right to say what I wish or for my children and other children to? This to me appears to be a double standard, after all "God" is just another word, right? :)
Last Sunday our Preacher spoke of Hollywood and how the liberal film industries show Christians when dooms day scenerios are created. We are shown to be vagabond looking Chtristians, that are drunks, usually cartying a bottle screaming "The end is near!!!". There is either that scenerio or we are portrayed as busy body "Holy Rollers", or people with our noses in the air with an "I'm better than you" additude. I thought about and started thinking of different movies, and gee, was he right!
Every religion is at most times misrepresented. I try to remind myself the individuality of this world is what makes it such a wonderful place, as I slowly see some of what are nation was founded on slip away for fear of offending another.
Love and Light and thanks for allowing me to vent,
Kismet

I'm a non-practicing Christian. I was born a Roman Catholic, and am baptized and confirmed in that faith.

During my time on this planet, fellow Christians have berated me because of my Catholic beliefs, telling me I was damned to hell, and similar rants.

Most are tolerant and respectful of other faiths. However, a significant portion are judgmental, are intolerant of others, and are self-righteous. Some are downright mean-spirited, and others are the personification of the word, "hypocrite."

I don't say this to be mean, because most of my friends are practicing Christians. However, I wonder to myself whether they'd still be my friends if they knew I was a Tarot practitioner.

I don't want to start a holy war, however, I think mainstream Christianity should take a look at itself before it starts looking at Hollywood. Something about removing the plank in one's own eye before pointing out the mote in your neighbor's eye.

You have every right to say a prayer wherever you want, just don't force my child to listen to you as you do so. He has rights, right along with yours.

I don't knock on doors asking people if they've read their Rachel Pollack today, nor do I pass out Tarot tracts in grocery store parking lots. I don't lobby my Congressman for Tarot readings in public schools, and I don't ask for school teachers to be fired because they practice Wicca.

When it comes to my beliefs, I just want to be left alone, and I want my family to be left alone.

With respect for your beliefs,

Partaking in a religion (going to church or doing ritual work in a coven) makes one no more spiritual, than going to a car-wash makes one a car.

Many people, regardless if it is religion (and yes Wicca is a religion), or atheism tend to be spiritual when it is convenient.

Those same folks love to point out the supposed flaws of others.

I look at is very simply. Do they act on a consistent basis in a manner in which their religious, political, or spiritual practice suggests? Do they talk or walk?

My life is too busy for talkers.
