Hey Aeclecticans,
I just bought all three DVD's of Björk live in various concerts... I would do almost anything to see her live in concert if I could afford it. She is so animated and really sings with her old body - truly amazing!!! I have decided that when I am in Europe next year I am going to do anything I can to see her!
So - if you could see anyone/any band live in concert - who would it be and why???

ooh i saw Cher in concert a few years ago now, and it was great, i have always wanted to see Fleetwood Mac and Elton John but never got the chance.
Bjork, (sorry Kayne) does nothing for me !!!
i also got to see the final concert of ELO, that was FANTASTIC, but that maybe showing my age a little now, (just like admitting to knowing the Bay City Rollers.......LOL)
Cheers

There are not many artists that I find TRULY AMAZING... and I have never been the type to go gaga over a celebrity/singer BUT I LOVE BJORK!!!!!!! She is so freakin cool. Love her voice and her music and her creativity.... I would have to say she is "Truly Amazing" :D I've also been wanting to go see her in concert for quite awhile now!

I have seen quite a few great shows and concerts. I say shows because some have been quite small audiences, one show being David Lindly, great entertainer. I also got to see Stevie Ray Vaughn before he died. Who I have not seen, but would love to.....Jimmy Buffett !!! I think he is quite an enlightened soul, and he is a very amusing musician. (OH NO! Who let the Parrothead out, "Polly wants a margarita, awk")

Live! I still want to see them live, but for some reason I always miss them when they come over... :( At least I got to see their last concert on tv, but it's just not the same...
Some of the greatest live performances I've seen: U2 (first time in 1984, last time in 2001, and still going strong then... ;) ), Red Hot Chili Peppers and the Rolling Stones.

((((WooHoo!!! Found another fan!!! I think she is an aquired taste... I hope you have seen Dancer in the Dark))))
The first time I ever heard Bjork I loved her instantly. I only know/ have met one other Bjork fan ever -thats my brother and he didn't like Homogenic (I don't know why??) so he's gone off her. But WOW!!! Dancer in the Dark- amazing perfonance i've never cried sooooo hard in my life, brilliant! Would die to see her live- the Mtv unplugged session she did a few years ago was so original and beautiful I had taped it off the tv but now the tape has worn out and i need to get another copy- what recording did you buy??? I know this is diverting but im so excited i've found some fellow fans. Visit http://www.arktikos.com/bjork/ its a fab remix site for fans!!

JohnnyCash, definitely... Unfortunately, he is very ill and the chances of anybody ever seeing him in concert ever again are slim-to-none... :( And I am too young to have been alive in his hey-day... :( Boo-hoo! Although my parents went to see him when Mum was pregnant with me, and he actually spoke to Mum! :D

This Friday I'm going to see Poison, Winger, Faster Pussycat and Cinderella!
*waits for the laughter and calls of "get out of the '80s!" to die down*
I know it's silly but I never got to see them as a teenager when they were all hotties... so I'm making up for lost time. ;)
And every time I see Aerosmith they are awesome.
Would love to see the Rolling Stones, Jimmy Buffet, Ozzfest and Dave Matthews.

Well you asked...
If I could go see any one I wanted to I would go see Donny Osmond! (swoon)
I loved him as a teen!
I would love to sing with him!
I went to the last Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band in Biolxi, MS
and to another concert on the coast, I can't remember their names right now, but there was an older black man that played the fiddle and he was the best part of that concert, he really burnt that fiddle up!
And I've been to a concert , oh I can't think of their names, the one's that sing "Free bird" (aren't I awful)

Oooh youe lucky Rhiannon, Id go to that concert too
I want to see Aerosmith before one of them dies (Tyler is in his 70 you know), and also Madonna
I saw Sum 41, American Hi Fi, and er, of Sliva thats right, last year at our college free :) I was terribly disappointed Sum 41 didnt have their squirt guns, but at least I was front row. I felt so sick for days afterward because I was next to the speakers but it was worth it. I was even handed a some Saliva stickers by a band member, but I didnt know who he was lol, I didnt really know Saliva at all.
Oh i forgot to mention, I need to go see a Wierd Al concert some day. Also They Might Be Giants hehe

Thanks for the link suzyspellbound! I have not come across this one before :D As for the Bjork MTV unplugged - it was one of the three DVD's I just bought that were released recently. The other two are her live at Shepardd Bush and live in Cambridge... you have to see them!!!
And Faerie Lin - what are doing still on Aeclectic??? You should be in the video store or in front of the telly watching Dancer in the Dark right now!!! (bring a box of tissues...:P)
We could form the very exclusive Aeclectican's Bjork fan club!!!:P:D:D

I wanted to see Alanis, and I did :D TWICE :D and probably will see her again soon, since I got wind of some summer movements... ;)
I also saw RHCP (jealous? :P).
I'd love to see Bjork too.
And Chemical Brothers - I could only watch a recent festival in Italy on the telly, and it was... I'm lost for words. I only knew I had to be there. :(
And I would not mind some Feeder, P.J. Harvey (just for the pleasure of seeing her in person, probably), Cousteau (maybe the spelling is wrong)...
And some italian bands you don't know... :P

MAY I BOAST? As I had mentioned before, I have seen MANY shows(one of the perks of a side job I had) I saw, with the best seats in the house, U2. I've seen Bob Dylan when his name was on the ticket, and he's made 4 guest apperances at other concerts, U2 was one, 'Knockin' on Heavens Door'
I would run into Flea(RHCP) at parties before the peppers where the peppers.(saw Sublime play in a backyard during that era of my life)
Arosmith, man they are good. AND BOWIE!!!I went to the Glass Spider tour, the balcony would have come DOWN!!! during 'Rebel Rebel' if this was not California and the stadium was not designed for eathquake territory!!!
So, Rhiannon, When are we gonna go PARROT HUNTING??

The one man I really would love to have seen...Rory Gallagher, unfortunately he died in '95.
Well at least there's some tribute bands keeping his music alive. They often play in small venues or pubs. I like rock and blues music in pubs anyway, much easier to get a drink :D
Mass concerts are not really my thing.

I've been lucky enough to see most of the bands I've really wanted to see live, often more than once. (The one I'm still kicking myself for having missed, more than 10 years later: Big Pig.) I've seen TMBG, Moxy Früvous (five times), Barenaked Ladies (three times), Albert Collins (four times), Saffire, Susan Werner, Dave Brubeck (five times), Gil Scott-Heron, Ricardo Lemvo y Makina Loca (twice—gonna be three times this weekend), Joe Jackson (twice), Graham Parker, the Limeliters, Tom Paxton and various less memorable others. Wouldn't mind seeing jazz singer Karrin Allyson, but I'm not aware that she's ever toured near me.
If only Nilsson weren't dead . . . :( But I don't think he ever really toured anyway.

I've been to this festival several times years ago, when it was still the Torhout-Werchter festival. I always loved it!
I've seen many bands there: REM (once as the "opening act", when they were still hardly known in Europe, and once as the "main act" ;) ), Peter Gabriel, Sting, INXS, Lou Reed, Pretenders, U2, Joe Cocker and many, many more...
I guess you can tell from the bands mentioned how long ago this must have been... :D

I once had this little ceramic horse, and I kept ALL my concert ticket stubs in there for remembrance. But it disapeared along with a few other personal items that were very dear to me , like a photo album and yearbooks from jr.high. My first husband took them when I left him I think ;) .
There were about 30 ticket stubs. I've seen aerosmith 3 times! They were my very favorite back then. Sorry Liliana, but I don't think steven tyler is in his 70's. ? He may be very early 60's. I will have to look it up to find out his exact age. Saw Alice Cooper back in.............1977 or78. That was excellent! He put on a major stage show for each song. ( Kind-of the marilyn manson of the 70's!)
Saw the rolling stones. I really liked Jefferson Starship a lot. And Edgar Winter was cool. sigh!
If I could see anyone? I'd transport myself back to a real Led Zepplin Concert! Would also like to see marilyn manson and a whole bunch of others. mmm, also transport myself back to see Nirvana. I haven't been to a concert in Ages. I think I'm too old ( hides under the furniture!) :) .

LOL! I think my first aerosmith ticket was like $11.00 ! And yes Alice Cooper - Welcome to my Nightmare! He really put on a great stage act for every song, not like a lot of bands who basically just stand there and play their guitars. There was a video of endless jack daniels bottles rolling by in the backround. And a song called "nurse nancy" where the dancing nurses white uniforms turned into psychadelic go-go dresses when the lights went out! And a gigantic tarantula graced the stage! Did you know Alice Cooper is a member of mensa ? (spelling) you have to have a genius IQ to be a member.

I have seen so many acts live I cannot name them all, but I am a HUGE music fan, it is my number 1 hobby and interest.
I've never had the opportunity to see LIVE! and would LOVE to.
I've missed James Taylor 5 times, I do NOT plan on doing so again!! I'd like to see Chris Issac because he exudes sensuality to me with his voice, reminds me of what warm carmel would sound like if it had a sound, hehe...:)
I've seen Sting once, and he is my all time FAVORITE!! His music is so....mesmerizing, I recall when he did "Fragile" you could literally have heard a pin drop it was so quiet.
I'd LOVE to see Metallica, and if the artists from the soundtrack Spawn ever did a tour I'd be there. Would also love to see Celine Dion. You can't tell I love music can ya?
Love and Light,
Kismet
PS: Crosby Stills and Nash are great live as well, their music and harmonizing are incredible, even now.

I've seen Sting once, on a festival. It had been raining all day, everyone was feeling a bit miserable and tired and wet. Then Sting came onto the stage, the clouds disappeared and the sun starting shining, and for the first time that day we were able to enjoy a concert without hiding under a piece of plastic... Sting brought the sun out that day... ;)

You're not the only one who has a "thing" for Sting. Years ago a guy posted a message to the newsgroup alt.society.generation-x to the effect that even though he considered himself absolutely heterosexual, if Sting wanted to have sex with him, he wouldn't say no. Thus was born the term "Sting factor"—the power to tempt a person away from his default sexual orientation—and a long thread about who possessed it.
