I was just wondering if anyone knows any good sayings, I happen to love a good saying (also humerous ones) with a deeper meaning to them.
For example about four years ago when I first came into contact with Reiki it finally dawned on me where the saying "Healing Hands" came from.
Do any of you know of any good (humerous or serious) sayings?
One of my favourites is "We don't see things the way they are...We see them the way WE are" ;-)

This one is someone else's signature. I can't remember whose but I LOVE IT. :D
Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

* Never confuse having a career with having a life. :D
* A celebrity is someone who works hard all his life to become known and then wears dark glasses to avoid being recognized.
* A child's life is like a piece of paper on which every person leaves a mark. :)
* A long life may not be good enough, but a good life is long enough. ;)
* A man spends the first half of his life learning habits that shorten the other half of his life. 8)

You've reached middle age when all you exercise is caution. :D
The only thing in life achieved without effort is failure. :)
Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one getting burned. :(
Hurt leads to bitterness, bitterness to anger, travel too far that road and the way is lost. :P
If a small thing has the power to make you angry, does that not indicate something about your size?

Here are a few of my favourites:
Anger, if not restrained, is frequently more hurtful to us than the injury that provokes it.
-- Seneca
Great minds discuss ideas
Average minds discuss events
Small minds discuss people
Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great.
-- Mark Twain
And these are just for fun: :D
The great thing about living in a small town is when you don't know what you're doing, someone else does
Being paranoid doesn't mean nobody is following you
If at first you don't succeed, bungee jumping probably isn't for you ...

:) I just realized that most of you have some sort of saying as your signature and I'm having a wonderful time reading them :)
Thanks for the ones that already posted some extra ones, some of them are really cool. I just love reading sayings :D
Here's another one I personally like,
"the Universe works in mysterious ways....that is why GOD made me the way I am" :D

whatever relationships you have attracted in your life at this moment are precisely the ones you need in your life at this moment.
(deepak chopra)
truth cannot be expressed verbally, it can only be experienced, you have to live it and be part of it and then you might get to know it.
i take a piece of paper, write a saying on it and glue it to a magnet......then i have amazing sayings on my fridge without the cost :)

With Wisdom a house is built, with Understanding it is established, and with Knowledge its rooms are filled. -- Proverbs 24:3-4
Man is afraid of things that cannot harm him, and he knows it, and he craves things that cannot be of help to him, and he knows it; but in truth the one thing man is afraid of is within himself, and the one thing he craves is within himself.
There is no obstacle that one cannot overcome, for the obstacle is only there for the sake of the will, and in reality there are no obstacles except in the spirit. -- both from Nachman of Bratslav

These are from Dilbert...
Tell me what you need, and I'll tell you how to get along without it.
My reality check bounced.
On the keyboard of life, always keep one finger on the escape key.
Everybody is somebody else's weirdo.
Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.
A pat on the back is only a few centimeters from a kick in the butt.
Eat one live toad the first thing in the morning and nothing worse will happen to you the rest of the day.
Following the rules will not get the job done.

If you aren't part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate.
Oblivion is nothing to worry about.
Every life should have nine cats.
Most beds sleep up to six cats. Ten cats without the owner. - Stephen Baker
Thousands of years ago, cats were worshipped as gods. Cats have never forgotten this.
There are two means of refuge from the miseries of life: music and cats. - Albert Schweitzer
No amount of time can erase the memory of a good cat, and no amount of masking tape can ever totally remove his fur from your couch. - Leo Dworken
How we behave toward cats here below determines our status in heaven. - Robert A. Heinlein
Kittens are born with their eyes shut. They open them in about six days, take a look around, then close them again for the better part of their lives. - Stephen Baker
The smallest feline is a masterpiece. - Leonardo da Vinci
Another cat? Perhaps. For love there is also a season; its seeds must be resown. But a family cat is not replaceable like a wornout coat or a set of tires. Each new kitten becomes its own cat, and none is repeated. I am four cats old, measuring out my life in friends that have succeeded but not replaced one another. - Irving Townsend
Cats Are Not impure; they keep watch about us. - The Prophet Mohammed
I was only a small child when the seeds of cat enchantment were sown within me. - May Eustace
You just knew I'd have a lot of cat quotes, didn't you? :D
