I know it's so cliche for me to be interesting in such music, due to my other interests, but the world will have to deal with that.
Lately I've been very interested in Celtic and Gaelic music. Also in Wiccan themed music that is soft and involves the same instruments as Celtic music. (even though I'm not wiccan)
So far I've come accross Capercaillie, whom I'm utterly in love with, Loreena McKennit (whom I'm also gagga over) and various odd songs.
Anyone have any suggestions for similar things for me to look up? I've searched using all the key words I could think of, but I realize there are many wonderful things that can't be found w/ those keywords. So Specific artists and song titles would greatly benefit me.
Thnx so much! :D

How about Clannad, they sound very much like Capercaillie.
Then there's the Waterboys and the Levellers, they probably wouldn't be classified as Celtic music, it's more rock music with Celtic influences. I don't know whether you like that too or whether you prefer more "pure" Celtic music.
You might like "Irish Heartbeat", an album that Van Morrison did with the Chieftains.
And don't forget the Pogues... :D

When I was in ireland a few years ago I found there (don't know if they are available world wide) Stockton's Wing, The Chieftains, DeDannan, the Fureys. Something I really like: Wolfstone, it's what they call Celtic rock.
If you like harp music: Alan Stivell, he plays the celtic harp (smaller than a concerto harp) and sings in Breton (comes from Bretagne in France). Great if you want peaceful music.

If you can still find these an artist (Cittern, guitar) Gerald Trimble.
For unbelievable piping and effect the band Moving Hearts the CD=The Storm. Cleaning house music = De Danaan or Altan..
The rest I know and have are very traditional.
When you go to Ireland, the festivals focus on the traditional the sessions at the pubs focus on traditional dance and song.
Let me know if you want a more extensive list.

I reccommend 'Dead canDance'. Anything by them. They aren't really Celtic, I would say, but there is a really cool shamanic vibe going on, and the vocals are just gorgeous. My priestess turned me on to them, they're one of her favourite groups. I really dig them too. Give them a shot, see if you like it. :)

Horslips - the classic albums The Book of Invasions and The Tain, although I don't know if you can still get them.
Silly Wizard, although there's not much on CD, and the Morrigan.
Runrig are pretty similar to Wolfstone, and Altan are like Capercaillie.
If you like Moving Hearts, the piper, Davy Spillane, has several good solo albums.
If you want obscure - the Spriguns of Tolgus. You probably won't be able to get that, but it's a great name!
Jilly
(just out of interest, has anyone here heard Mike Batt's* Tarot Suite? - 'we are dancing down a darkened road, though the stars are out not one of us knows the way.')
*yes, the guy who wrote the Wombles songs!

Awhile back I was in a Major Dept Store (can't remember which)
and they had many different tapes of music that you speak of...They called it mood music I think...look around, or call the stores. Someone in the Music/Tape dept (electronics) should be able to tell you if they have those tapes.
