I have E mailed solandia about other methods of paying, but I haven't heard back from her yet. I may just give in and sign up for paypal. Though I'm trying to avoid that and pay by other means. They do not make it easy in the US to send money to australia! I plan to join SomeTime soon in the future.

Yes, Redwood, as I said , I'm trying to avoid signing up for paypal because I'm weird about giving out my credit card #. So I'm trying to find another method of payment. I actually spent 45 minutes on the phone to the us post office to be finally told they don't issue international money orders to australia! I may end up giving in and signing up for paypal. ;) .

After weeks of PayPal-agony I finally went and registered tonight, having decided to trust the recommendations I've had from half the world by now (believe me, I've bugged most people I know about this...). But guess what? It didn't work. They were able to charge the $1.95 but not final the payment, isn't that just my usual luck. So here I am with a huge lump in my tummy for having been foolish enough to register for something like this, only to have to spend two sleepless nights before I can call my bank and find out how much money they got away with. That's how it feels right now, at least.
I should have gone with my gut feeling: never mix up money and internet. If nothing else it sure is bad for the nerves.
Jenny :(
PS: reply to the post: am trying but not there yet.

Just at the time this all happened, we were in the midst of getting our credit cards re-issued (My husband's wallet was stolen). Now that everything's working fine again, I can't find the original messages with the links to Paypal. And I suspect I can't sign up for A.T. until I have a Paypal thingee in my hot little hand.
Could some kind soul please direct me to Paypal?
Best wishes,
Red Emma

using my druidic powers I consulted the trees, who refered me to the rocks, who said I should talk to the flowers, but they said try the shrubbery, who said I needed to speak with a certain troll, who refered me to a sprite, she looked at me funny and told me to try the giant down by the lake, and he said that I would be better off using my credit card on PayPal...
so I did.

Me! I managed to squeek out a 3 mos membership, and will be able to upgrade to a full year next week! I don't know what I would do without Aeclectic. I love it here, and all of the people in it. When I think of what Aeclectic has given to me, I think it's only fair to support it, to make sure it continues and thrives. I think we should also try to support Jeannette and Lori too. My Mom will be purchasing my birthday Dali deck from them. YAY!

purplelady and jenni-li,
there is a way to send money w/o an international money order or credit card. paypal encourages using your checking account instead of a credit card. when i signed up for paypal all i had to do was show proof i had a bank account by giving them my account #. you can then put money into the paypal account w/o a credit card and pay for membership thru your bank. if you want to make sure they don't get out more than you authorize, you could check w/ you bank on this about safety or limit the amount of money you authorize paypal to put in your paypal account to pay solandia. i've paid thru my bank account before and it's easier than using a credit card. paypal enters your name into a contest for (i think) $1000 every time you pay thru your bank instead of using a credit card. another thing that would make using paypal safer and unbreachable by hackers is to have a firewall on your computer that way you have a better idea who out there may be trying to get access to your personal information.
hope this helps. let me know if you need help walking your thru this, okay? i'd be happy to assist! :)

yes, i joined the A(eclectic) team! don't you love it when a plan comes together? ;) LOL i never questioned or agonized over whether it was worth the money b/c aeclectic has become nearly as necessary to me as food, shelter, and oxygen. :D i love coming here to talk to everyone and read the posts. i love trading books and decks. coming here is like getting a dose of vitamin A just like eating chocolate is eating vitamin Ch! :P

Today I became a full-fledged member!
Of course I had to spend the morning -- about 2 1/2 hours -- dealing with Paypal. After that I was so frustrated and just plain discombobulated that I had a severe pain in the neck. So then I spent the afternoon with my husband watching a couple of low-class adventure/shoot-'em-up cop shows.
My brain may be anethesized, but at least my neck doesn't hurt any more!
Goddess Bless,

Outside the US, you can only get an account by entering your credit card. In some countries, like the Netherlands, you can also enter a bank account, but only after you've entered your credit card.
Using your bank account outside the US is very expensive too, because they charge rather big fees for transfering money between your bank account and Paypal and I understand the exchange rate isn't exactly the best one. So if you don't have a US bank account, using your credit card is the best option, because you won't be charged extra for that, not by Paypal anyway.
