If you could have a conversation with any one person past current or future, who would it be and why? What would you discuss?

George Soros. Open society, politics and economics, reflexivity in all three.
Edited to add
Or the brother of my Great-Great Grandfather Rufus, William Pattison. He was a 'seer'. A local newspaper guy wrote a book called "Pattison's Book or The Unseeable Future in 1893. Then there was my Great Aunt (sort of), Rufus' eldest daughter Mina, who was a 'Fortune teller'.

I would have a conversation with my husband's father. He died before I had a chance to meet him, before my husband and I got together.
I'd like to talk to him about how much I love his son, and tell him all about his grandkids.

i would love to speak to my maternal grandmother again. i was 12 y/o when she died. i've since worked on family geneology and would like to find out about her family. i want to clear up some things that have been a mystery since her death. i want to thank her for being there for me when i was little. i also have some personal questions to ask her. it would really help me just to know some things that have happened in our family that only she and my grandfather would know.
as far as a famous person goes, i think pamela colman smith would be interesting. after reading bits of her biography, i've really been fascinated by her life.

Aradia, who brought about a revival of La Vecchia Religione. :)
It is said that she was born in 1313 in the town of Volterra (Northern Italy). In the opinion of her devotees, Aradia was a personage (or an Avatar like Christ, Krishna, or Buddha) who gathered a small band of followers and went about the countryside teaching and preaching the Old Religion of Italy.

Can I choose more than one? ;)
I'd like to talk to my maternal grandmother. She died before I was born.
And my paternal "step"-grandmother, who died when I was only 6 and who is the only real grandmother I ever had.
And famous people: Charles Dickens and Jacques-Yves Cousteau would certainly be on my list.

Socrates: To ask him if he really said all those things Plato said he did.
The real King Arthur, whoever he realy was, to talk to him about what he has become in legends today. And to warn him about Lancelot and Mordred. ;)
And the person in my life who left thinking I was a really horrible person. I'd want to talk to her about the misunderstandings, and let her know how much I still love her.

I would want to speak to my Daddy again. I would love to be able to sit down with him and talk about my husband, kids, our life together and also just talk about nothing at all.

That is exactly who i would love to have a conversation with also....my father-in-law, who also died before I met my husband. They were very close and very alike, and no doubt would have adored his two granddaughters.
I would talk about what my husband was like when he was young (which would explain a few things LOL :D)
Cheers

Jesus.
Seriously. I'd give anything to have a heart to heart with the man and hear from his own lips (as opposed to his disciples and their translators) what he really believed and thought, and what he'd revise based on 2000 more years of history :)

Actually Id love to have nice chat with Mary Magdalene as well, find out her real story without being confused for a number of other women, see if she did have relations with Jesus, and if the rumors of her having Jesus' kid in France are true :)

I think I'd like to chat with Jesus too. I'd also like to ask his mother about this talk of immaculate conception, and see what she has to say about it. And at the same time I think I'd invite the prophet Mohammed along for a nice cup of tea, and ask him a few questions too.

... and you did say past, present or FUTURE... so I suppose I'd like to talk to my kids as grown-ups and ask them where I screwed up and what I can do better. And maybe some winning lottery numbers too!

My Great Grandparents who died when I was 7. He was from the Azores and she from California I believe. I'd ask them what it was like to travel when they did and what ranching was like in northern California.
Merlin. Teach me.
Nostradamus How do you see?
