NEWS: "A robot the size and shape of a child's toy train is exploring one of the enduring questions of Egypt's Great Pyramid: What lies behind a door first discovered by explorers in the 19th century?"

Sound interesting?

You can read more about this story.

I read a comment of an Egyptologist somewhere which said that it was virtually impossible that there's another room behind that door, because there's no space for another room there. This Egyptologist said that if they would open the door, they'd probably end up on the outside of the pyramid...

We'll just have to wait and see who is going to be right... :D

I remember that there was this robot-camera called Upuhaut exploring the Great Pyramide some years ago and when the robot-camera came to the door the Egyptian Government stopped further exploration.

Oh yes, my husband and I were watching this on TV and when the camera got through the door only to find NOTHING but ...yet...another DOOR, we both had a little giggle as we thought now they have to go and find (or invent) a longer drill bit or something and go back to the drawing board. It was disappointing for those Egyptologists I am sure, but we both found this quite funny.:D

I don't know... })

Seriously though, I think it would be great if they discovered something new. But they are creating such a hype now, it will be very disappointing if they don't find anything. It reminds me of the opening of Al Capone's safe: all this hype with the opening of the safe being broadcasted live on tv, only to find there was nothing worthwhile in it...

Maybe they'll find a teleport to another dimension? maybe that's where all their dead went when they'd had enough of this life?

I thought it was darn funny that they found another door, too. I was laughing so hard.

What intruiges me about the whole thing is the possible symbolism; I don't think they're going to find treasure. I think the doors represent something on the spiritual level. But what?

I know those pillars with the original tarot cards lie beyond the doors hehehehe

lol yeah, you can imagine...

OH MY GOD! NO ONE HAS EVER BEEN PAST THIS DOOR GUYS! WE'RE MAKING HISTORY HERE! MAYBE THERE'S TREASURE?! OR ANCIENT KNOWLEDGE?! WOOOOW! HERE IT COMES!.....IT'S.....IT'S......another door....oh great....here we go again...

I also watched the airing on TV...
I was impressed with how clean everything looked. No dust or cobwebs and all that as in watching "movies". Which I know are "just movies". And I wondered what the big deal of "mysteries" was all about. I did enjoy the way they came up with figureing where people slept and ate. I was a little disapointed with the findings...
I do not understand the reasoning they had when they built the pyrimids, so big a place for 3 or 4 rooms...((doesn't make sense to me)) and even though it was interesting I think if I had known what they would find that I would have found something else to do with my time....
*just my thoughts, not knocking anyone or anything*

The pyramids were built for kings who were transforming in their "mummies" into Gods, undergoing apotheosis. That's the reason the pyramids are so dang big on the outside. Nothing was spared- immortality was at stake.

There's a humerous story about the biggest pyramid having a hole right up through to the top, pointed directly at Sirius, the Dog Star. Just in case apotheosis didn't work, the spirit would still be able to escape and undergo the normal 'rites after death'. Nothing like taking those last-minute precautions :)

I'm a big fan of ancient Egypt.... The thing is, when they found another door behind it, what they were looking for was something that they didn't find. I doubt they even looked to see what kind of heiro's were on the wall at the time, which would give them answer what may be beyong that second door. The Egyptians were not dumb, usually if they build 2 doors in succession it means that it is usually a trap or a decoy.. Making people think what ever is behind something that is locked away by 2 doors has to be something valueable... when really it is just ancient sayings or what the dead king said... They also took years to master building the pyramids.... they're first models weren't to sturdy and collapsed... what ever it is behind that second door, is most likely knowledge and not booty

I think it's interesting to look at the detailed plans of these shafts - see e.g. http://www.cheops.org/ from the original Upuaut expedition. I was once into the star alignment theory, but the fact that there is obviously a horizontal section to the shafts at the chamber end seems quite bizarre? Prompted by e.g. Graham Hancock, I once tried (with the aid of a star mapping program capable of reseting time back to contruction date - or even 10000 B.C!) to project the shafts onto the sky for myself. A question, to my mind, was how LARGE an area would they point to? :) I usually came up with angles of a few DEGREES(?) so I felt the shafts don't point to particular STARS - but rather to regions of the sky. I think one thing a lot of these books feed is the notion of delusions of accuracy. No earthly structure is ever aligned or built with an precision of six decimal places as is so often quoted? :) But at least e.g. G.H. had incorporated the effects of precessions and I might have been sold on the idea of an earthly representation of e.g. the belt of Orion (or the whole world) had I not (prompted by his critics) noticed that the Ancient Egyptians had indeed apparently built the whole Giza site UPSIDE DOWN - something (imo) those guys would NOT have done. Fwiw, I suspect the pyramids were located wrt available real estate? :)

But an amazing feat of civil engineering: Air ducts, A *symbolic* transport system into the afterlife (my own favourite "theory") What lies beyond any second (or subsequent) doors? ... "Obviously" a signed ORIGINAL copy of the book of Thoth! :D
