Gratitude

Dear Colleagues,

Some really nice things are happening in my life at present, capped off by success in getting a new job last Friday evening, a job that I know I'll love.

I felt light hearted and hopeful on Saturday and wanted to do a 'spread of gratitude' but I couldn't find anything suitable so had to make one up.

There are many ways of showing gratitude and joy and wonderful things like this, but are there specific ways of doing this through Tarot? I have learned so much, and am still doing so through Tarot that I wanted to acknowledge this in a ritualistic way.

It doesn't seem too outlandish. Does anyone have any ideas or knowledge about similar practices?

Don't blame god when something bad happens to you......and don't thank him when something good happens to you!

Take the credit yourself...

You deserved this! Congratulations! :)

Maybe the best way to express your gratitude via tarot would be to "Pay It Forward" and do acts of unconditional charity that relate to tarot in some way.

Congratulations, Moongold! What job did you get, will you share with us?

I like Laurel's idea of random acts of kindness. Let me tell you a personal story.

One day after work, I was stopped by a man who said that he had just moved to Ottawa from rural Quebec in order to find work. He'd set up and paid for a room at a rooming house for the month, and had just had a job interview he was hopeful about. But, not being a city guy, he'd underestimated how much it would cost to stay here for a month, and he was flat broke and had no $$ for food - his living accomodations were paid up. He said he had never had to beg in his life but he was desparate and needed some change for food. He'd already been to some of the charitable organizations, but they would not help him because he had only been in the city for two weeks.

Something in this man's eyes spoke honesty, and so I started to give him some change, but stopped and handed him $10 instead. I told him where the nearest grocery store was and wished him well.

I didn't care if he was lying or not....it felt good to hear him out and felt good to share because I knew I could.

Anyway, that was a couple months ago. Last week, I was leaving work and a man stopped me and said "Remember me? You gave me money whan I was down and feeling bad about myself. Well, I got that job, and I wanted to give you back your money. " And he did, handed me $10 - right at a time, when I had no money in my wallet and could have used some change.

So, share your gratitude - you never know when it come back to you when you need it most!

Dear Friends,

Whatever is responsible for change - Karma, God, chance or circumstance - it seems natural to be appreciative. I don't know a great deal about Buddhism but the idea of living in the present moment and being grateful for what one has *right now* is a really nice one.

I have been able to focus on some challenging issues partly through doing the exercises in Jette's "Tarot Shadow Work" and that 'freeing up' has been very liberating and peaceful.

I love the idea of random, selfless and unknown acts of generosity.

The job I got is in organisational development, working with people in a constructive way. I'll be working with people that I really like and respect.

Thanks for your generous and lovely responses!
