I am Video Game Junkie

It matters not to me that I am nearly 30, I own more video games (another one of my spendetures after buying tarot decks) than many kids half my age.

I just cant wait for "Kingdom Hearts" to come out over here. Thats the Final Fantasy/Disney crossover. It has a Jack Skellington Level. How cool is that? When I can play Bambi as a Summon Creature for Battle Goofy, I know my adult life can truly begin...

My husband on the other hand is waiting for the new Robotech game to come out at about the same time. Hmmm, Mechs and Mickey Mouse- No sleep at my house till Halloween.

Any other video game addicts? What kind of games to you play?

The ultimate classic: Tetris.

Definitely! We have versions of that for our Nintendo, Playstation and Gameboy units ;)

Don't forget Zelda - that's also a game I'd consider classic.

And at my house, we use the term for those of us (4 kids, DH and me) that love video games ;)

Ever play tetris so much and so often that when you closed your eyes to go to sleep, you saw the tetris blocks falling down?

One of my fav Playstation games is ICO. I was so sad when the game ended, I wish I could have played that game forever. It is such a great game that I will always hold dear to my heart. I even thought about naming my son ICO!!!

Yes! And then even dreamed about those shapes :)

Violet Gargoyle  01 Sep 2002
I remembering play tetris so much that I saw nothing but those shapes in the square bathroom tiles and automatically started to sing the tune (of which I have a techno version of now).

...and Ico is a pretty cool name if you ask me.

The New Zelda game looks like it will Rock! I wish I had a gamecube.

purplelady  01 Sep 2002
We have a lot of pc games. But the only one I ever play is the sims! I have the sims and it's 4 expansion packs. I just learned of a new one coming out, sims "unleashed" where they can have pets! I'm very excited! My son and husband play a lot of star trek games, sim city, and civilization. They also play playstation football and baseball games. I never play anything other than the sims though. I'd really like to get them a ps2 someday.

Oh no...I worked for Nintendo of America for seven long years. Played Vids 24-7. Dreamed in Vid mode. Zelda-Remember Zelda II, The Adventure of Link for the NES? Way ahead of it's time. Years later, nobody has beat my record back at NOA. I could finish the entire game with no deaths in two hours and twenty minutes.

Here is an obscure one-Solstice…for the NES-12 minutes.

Now, I cannot play vids. I find no more enjoyment in them…

The thill is gone.

I too love video games. My brother and I plan on going together and buying a PS2.

My fave game so far is Diablo II for PC!!! Hee Hee!!

when i was on my mario kick years ago i would be watching david letterman and want to make him jump up and hit the exit sign above his head (during his opening ) heehee

yes, i dream it when i'm playing.....but it's my hubby that's the true addict.

i figure, he doesn't drink, smoke, do drugs, go out with friends,......so what the heck, he deserves to have any game or system he desires.

we have xbox (the day it came out) 2 super nin. and 2 n64.
so that he doesn't have to share with the kids heehee

love

Hubs & son play all sorts of PC games. They bought me Myst one year, and I liked it, but I didn't have any burning desire to spend hours & hours playing it. Eventually, I got bored and stopped.....

NOW they are into a non-video or PC game: Warhammer. It's a fantasy battle game, much like Dungeons & Dragons, but in this, you build everything yourself - that's half the fun; and it's a strategy game, not a mystical storyteling game. You build your army of goblins, orcs, humans, elves, dwarves, lizardmen - whatever - paint them, build your scenary, etc. Then you "battle". It's a whole world of non-square screen gaming -literally! There are conventions and painting contests and workshops in malls where you can battle with other like minded people. the world's best minature painters can command thousands of dollars for a complete set of minature armies.

They even got me & step-daughter into painting the minatures: I ordered a whole female High Elf "Maiden Guard" primarily so I could paint it.

Sigh.

Violet Gargoyle  02 Sep 2002
My husband does Warhammer too. I can hear those orcs in my sleep sometimes (Nug Nug). He's big into tactical games, like Stronghold and Civilization. He also likes the Sims, mainly to see how theraputic it is to create the equivalant of all our former roomates and make them live with each other in sim world.....

HOLMES  02 Sep 2002

I used to be a Video Game junkie... :(
But I definitely want to get back to that life asap.

I grew on someone else's NES and Super Mario Saga rocked. I especially liked the II, but as usual I was the only one, the black sheep out of the bunch... Then Zelda, well... mh... don't remember much I was so young! LOL

I tend to play RPG games, since in real life there's nothing like that for me (:(), and probably, even if I didn't BUY, I tried them all via demo or friends in the past days of high school. Actually I stopped too long ago, I must admit that: at the times of "Diablo II" and "Baldur's Gate II". This is so sad...

I also have a PSX, but the times of the PSX are over.
I probably bought it on purpose t play the Final Fantasy saga - and ACK! I was never able to get FF-Tactics here in Italy (sends black negative beams to all Neapolitan VG-sellers).

I really really really dig RPGs. "Diablo" on my PC was DA BOMB. I loved it. Battlenet was quite crappy and mindless, I preferred solo playing. Roguez RULE! :D
Badlur's Gate... Could never get it. Just demo. :(
But I THOROUGHLY ENJOYED Fallout 1 & 2 - those are THE RPGs. Magnificent. I hope I'll get back t it again.
But probably won't, since I have to finish "Pool of Radiance II" first - awesome, I suggest it to all AD&D PC-games Junkies, third level AD&D rules.

I should stop now, I am getting sad...

Violet Gargoyle  02 Sep 2002
I usually only play RPG based games, mostly Final Fantasy based or action close enough to be an RPG like "Devil May Cry" or "Pirates". I have broken this up with PC games, like "Dungeon Keeper 2" and "Black and White"

Hubby just got Neverwinter Nights, which you can use to design your own AD&D modules, all the same rules. I just have fun designing characters and NPC's.....

Pollux- write to those folks and DEMAND FF Tactics. Say you NEED chocobos. Actually I dont know what I am going to do when Final Fantasy XI comes out over here, its supposed to be online (like everquest) but I dont want to pay an arm and a leg everytime I want to up my level or class......

Quick Conversions:

AD&D- Advanced Dungeons and Dragons

NPC- Non Player Character- Someone created in a role playing game to interact with the player, to get them to go where the game is supposed to.

Orcs- Ugly, evil creatures. Think Lurtz from the Lord of the Rings and then multiply that into a race.

Nothing wrong with painting little figures and creating the scenery, either. My husband likes to do that too....

jema  02 Sep 2002
i think it might have been a nintendo game.
i loved it.
it was called Faxanadu and i played it in long marathon sittings with hardly a bite to eat all day.

i also liked something called shining force!

these days i play only PC games.
i like startegy and turnbased RPG games.
3DO makes them the best.
Heroes of might and magic and Might and magic.
oh and Wizardy is fun too (but quite impossible - i get killed all the time)

OMG! Another DiabloII fan! YAY! I couldn't wait until LOD expansion came out. I swear, I never get tired of that game. You must play multiplayer, right? Before I lived HERE all the time,I lived THERE all the time. Now I am a citizen of both worlds. (PS, I STILL haven't killed Hell level ancients, not even with a war party. They kicked our collective A**!)

Phoenix  02 Sep 2002
I only play single player, but it is so fun!! Who is your favorite character? Mine is the Sorceress first, then the Assassin!

rajarod  05 Sep 2002
heh... it's true, it's a guilty pleasure :)
I'm currently engrossed in Icewind Dale II... It's awesome. If you like pc-based RPGs, check it out. It’s the last game for the infinity engine, and it sports a number of improvements over previous IE games. The best part about it is the new races you can play. I have an aasimar cleric named Tzaddiel and a tiefling mage named Kethium. I think I'd like Neverwinter Nights, but my computer's too slow.
I've always loved good RPG's, even pen-and-paper ones. Back in high school I was the best gamemaster ever ;)
I also love all the final fantasy series, but I’m worried that Kingdom Hearts will be to cutesy. Disney and moody anime boys just don’t seem like they should mix :)

Pollux  05 Sep 2002
hey, help me out.

I played a Demo of a game I don't know how it's called.
Turn-based RPG, Western type.
In the Demo you can only choose among 1 race (LOL), the Undead (but this is not the complete name), where supposedly 4 are in the final version.
Since I played the undead: You have a general who's a Lich Queen, and then can choose to recruit other leaders (Lich Queen, Banshee, Dark Rogue or similar, Knight and Y-something - ARGH!!!). The basic units to recruit are: Wyvern, Warrior, Ghost, Initiate. The Banshee is necessary to plant staves and enlarge your dominion - so to get by sources as mana and gold. You build your castle, and can have a leader defend it as well as the guardian (like in Heroes of Might and Magic and all of them...).

I know it is little precious information, but I need to know how it is called!!! :(

Liliana  05 Sep 2002
I was going to say it sounds like a Might and Magic game but I guess its not lol

I play Role Playing games on my Playstation 2 and I plasy the non computer table top ones too, I used to play Dungeons and Dragons mostly but now I play White Wolf's World of Darkness games, Vampire:the Masquerade, Werewolf: the Apocolypse, and Changeling:the Dreaming. Theres also Mage:the Acention and Wraith:the Obliviov but i dont really paly those. for the Playstion I adore the Final Fantasy series, Ive beat most of them.

Was it Disciples II: Dark Prophesy? Thats the only thing I can think of with your elements in it.....
