Hi all,
When I named my company, I tried to visualize a shop I would like to go into and work in..ended up with a small english cottage with lots of plants and flowers growing outside.
the inside would have books, decks, tools. and beautiful jewlrey (the kind you wear and suround yourself with). I would have a room (sunroom style..lots of plants) where we could sit and have tea, read cards, and discuss the wonders of the world..
The visual doesn't quite fit with the things I make..but belive me..my bags, dolls and now wine bottle bags would be displayed along with lots of other handmade wonders..

Needful Things hehehe
Actually someone in my town has this antique shop that she did name that, kind of makes me wary of buying there ;)
Actually it'd likely be named somethng after my husbands Dungeons and Dragns world, either Caelstia or Farpoint, both kind of have a mystical quality
Or maybe Sit for a Spell lol, Ive always been big on puns.

I know a couple of shops that were actually named Serendipity ... but I still feel it's a great name, and a great word: it sounds good, and has an interesting meaning that could be linked to everything around tarot or magic or spirituality.
I don't want to come across as a snob (the wife says I do that nevertheless), but just say so if the word needs explaining.

My favourite S-F bookshop in London was named after a Ray Bradbury story - Dark They Were And Golden-eyed. As it shut a long time ago, I'd borrow the name. Or I could use the one I do for my website - Conjury Nook.

I believe if I could do such I'd call it Magical Times Past.
I have a question to add to this post. If you owned such a shop, what magical things would you include or have offered?
Love and Light,

My twin wanted to name her business 'The Hole in the Wall' [many of the best shops I've come across have been little hidden away places--it's almost like you have to be drawn to them, Y'know, "Come see what you can find hidden at 'The Hole in the Wall'.
I'd want to name mine 'Starr Gifts'. or 'Osami's Hide Away'

Hi hermit, I wonder what kind of massage you offer in your cave ;)
Thanks a lot for all your creative suggestions. I wonder how many ppl frequent the "Needful things" or the "Magic Cottage" (ever read the book by J. Herbert with the same title?) shop.

but have read "Needful Things" by (weird) Stephen King (the guy has a really twisted mind... which I love) and also saw the movie...
not as good...

There is a cool New Age store around the coast that is called Enchantments. It is the neatest store I've ever been in. They have tarot, books, runes, incense, crystals, jewelry, clothing, bags......you name it they got it!!!
If I had a store I think I'd call it Mystical Moments and carry a wide variety of everything.

...cuz mine would be a Swedish name. Of course. And it will be, this is already the name of my web site (if ever I'll finish it... :P).
The name is Himmel & Ord, which means literally Heaven and Word, so you ask "What's so cool about that"? Well Heaven & Earth is called Himmel & Jord in Swedish, so the pun is pretty obvious for a Swede...
So what would/will I sell in there? Books (of course), decks (naturally), crystals (how could I not?), CD's with spiritual music (only good stuff though, there's too much muzak out there as it is), and whatever I can think of to create a spiritual environment in people's own homes.
I will welcome every customer as a fellow traveller on the Spiritual Journey, and do my best to be a guiding Hermit on this person's road.
There would be rooms for sessions of healing or for readings, both from me and from my customers when they get querents of their own but don't have room for the spiritual corner of their own homes (or perhaps want their sacred space to themselves...).
There will be a corner to sit down and have a cup of tea, but it's not the kind of place to sit down if you just want to be alone, cuz all of a sudden you will find yourself involved in a spiritual discussion with one or more of the other customer, or with the "shop witch" herself... :)
Light and love,
Jenny :)

i wanted to have an herb shop a while back. everything herbs, teas, soaps, fresh herbs, dried herbs, cookbooks on herbs.
i was going to call it "Herb 'n' Options" (get it? Urban options?) sort of a modern day herbalist place.
as for a magic shop:
Things That Go Bump in the Night
Many a Magickal Thing
Trickster's Corner
