Hi folks!
I was talking to a person last week about his LiveJournal account, and he promised me to invite me as a user. NOW he has sent me a link to something called uJournal - and I'm wondering if he didn't dare give up on being anonymous on LiveJournal, and sent me the link to something similar but not quite the same, or if the two in fact are the same? Does anybody know?
I don't want to embarrass him by asking, all I know is he seemed a little concerned that I would know who he was (wonder what he DOES write in that thing...? })), so perhaps he sent me off to some other place...?
Does anyone else use LiveJournal and/or uJournal here? What are they? Are they the same? Are they equally good? Being the networking freak that I am, I'm very interesting in the possibility to connect with other people there... What do you guys think?
And are these things for grown-up people or is it just kids?
Jenny :)

hi jenny,
if you want a livejournal code i got a few left. i have used it for more then a year now and love it.
it is a really great place. i guess if you just wnat a place for your journal then uJournal willbe just as good - but the really neat thing about LiveJournal is the people there and the sense of community.
i have lot of friend there, 120 people that read my journal.
u-journal is still rather new - not so many people on there yet. but in the future it might be just as cool as LJ.
but just PM me if you need a code.
i have 4 left at least.

Ah thought so. Was just wondering why one needs a code. I'll read about it and (if possible) sign up. :)
Thanks for the links.

"This is lame. Just let me join!
If you're totally new to the site and just want to sign-up without paying, we understand your frustration. However, very few people just stumble upon the site... nearly everybody that signs up does so because a friend referred them.
Please understand our position, too: LiveJournal is a community-run website... all of our code is open source and we discuss all business and development discussions in communities like lj_biz and lj_dev. Everybody pitches in. Artists make art in lj_art, writers write documentation in lj_userdoc, etc... "
I think it kinda makes sense, either you join because your friends are already there, or you pay for it. It's an other way of solving the financial issue, like AT has done by starting the subscription-thing. So the code is to create a FREE new account - and thanks to Jema that's what I did today! Thanks dear! :D
Light and love,
Jenny :)

you are so welcome, i still have a few codes left and love to invite my fellow tarot-fools:)
i think we can start our own LJ community pretty soon if we wanted to!
LJ had some problems with people signing up for free accounts just to harass other people + as a bonus people are now more likely to actually pay for an account.
i do:)

A journal as in "dear diary"? On the internet? I always thought a diary was the epitome of intimacy, the one place where you could spill your innermost thoughts and feelings - and which you never showed to anyone for this very reason... why would people show their diaries around??? Isn't that a bit exhibitionistic (no offense to internet journalers :) )?
Please enlighten me...

I can't enlighten you, cuz I don't have an answer. If you feel a diary by necessity is a very intimate thing and that sharing it, anonymously, with others is an act of exhibitionism, I guess you just don't want one...! ;) :D ;)
For me it's an opportunity to share thoughts, mine and others and possibly get a comment or two, possibly meet a new friend or two who likes the way I think, when I don't try to think like I'm supposed to... If that makes any sense...? I won't write everything there, but what I do write will be true, so in that respect it won't be so different from this place - other than the fact the LiveJournal isn't focused on the Tarot.
Light and love,
Jenny :)

well, not really. the idea of a published journal is very very old.
and some of the first personal internet sites were in fact journals.
the LiveJournal is a lot like a "Blog" only more personal - it is more about your own life, the small ordinary things.
while a blog is more a commentery on news.
LJ has currently 700044 users
and only yesterday 134549 posts were made.
i think most of us use the journal both as a way to get to meet friends and chat - much like we do here - and as an outlet for thoughts and dreams. the nifty thing with a LJ is that you can do all of those things and adjust just what level of privacy you want.
i do posts only i can read, some posts that only my tarot-buddies can read, some that only the swedish people can read and so on and on...

Geez! - Guess I've got LOADS to learn about this thing...! Seems there are tons of possibilities lying around there, and I guess 700 thousand people can't be wrong... ;)

I also have a Blogger account which I used for a while, but there you don't have the different privacy levels, so you can't use it to post private stuff. And Blogger doesn't have the community that LiveJournal does.

I find an online journal is a convenient way to keep friends informed of what's going on in your life if you don't have much time to email them all individually.
It worked really well for me when I was travelling earlier on this summer - I'd occasionally post an entry about what I'd been up to for the past week or so, and any of my friends could look up my journal and see what I'd been up to. It helped them worry less about me ;)
I also find it's a helpful way to say what you need to say, but are afraid to let out. Maybe there's something you want to tell the people around you, but you can't bring yourself to say it to their face. Writing it in your online journal is a good way to let it out - you don't feel so much as if you're confronting someone, and they don't feel quite so confronted.
