wondering if anyone else has noticed this with them?
this is probably the first time in 15 years or more that i have had the summer to myself. no alarm clock. no schedule. i have been waking up and going to sleep when i want.
i have noticed that about 1/2 of the month i sleep in late, and 1/2 of the month i get up early (early!)
it doesn't always flow consecutively, like 2 weeks of this, 2 of that. but it does balance out to be about 1/2 n 1/2.
anyone else have this?

I think you have to have a regular life-style to notice a cycle like that. I guess for me it depends what I've done that day: if I've done a lot of walking in the sunshine and then had dinner with a glass of wine I sleep twice as much that night as on other nights, when I have actually been working hard (but had no physical exercise). I haven't seen a bigger pattern in it yet.

i definitely notice a difference. i sleep better during the darker phases. the light the moon reflects may have a big part in this, as there is little light pollution where i live, so i notice it more.
i also have more vivid (and often disturbing) dreams, around the full moon.

I used to work for medical dispatch for about 5 years on 3rd shift (11p-7a) and I tell you I dreaded working on full moons.
You had more births (even my daughter and myself were born during full moons) but you also had more death calls, and psychiatric calls, as well as more calls on the Narcaotic and Alcoholic Anonymous lines.
I could never convince my superiors to staff more during these times (how do you say "Full moons coming, need an extra dispatcher" with a straight face?) so most of the time the full moon would inadvertantly cause another stress episode because of me going nuts trying to dispatch the extra calls......the other side effect is insomnia, I could never wind down easily to sleep during full moons....I work a regular day job now and I still cant....

I don't know about sleep cycles (I just never get enough, period! ;) ), but I agree with Violet that people definitely act differently during the full moon.
I work for a retail gift store, and I've had to put the phases of the moon on the monthly calendar of events that we give our store managers...by their request! It seems that all the odd ball customers would come in during full moon time and ask for the strangest things! The managers wanted the phases on the calendars so they could schedule their veteran sales associates during those days to handle all the goofiness!
Peace,
Melvis

The moon affects my sleep patterns now that I thing about it.
Also having worked at a Level 1 Trauma center I have witnessed the full moon effect which actuallywas written about I believe in the 80's here in Seattle by one of the Emergency room Physicians.
There is an increase in psychotic episodes, drug overdoses, and violent behavior during the full moon. This hospital would run out of rooms and have people in the halls. It is amazing to witness.

I have problem with sleeping in the days before and during the full moon - some of the people in my groups have the same problem - we also seem to dream more vividly - I find I also feel a bit out of sorts during those day (probably from lack of sleep). I like to sleep with the drapes open and a little bit of light coming in it is very disturbing with the full moon even with the drapes closed. My husband has no problems with the moon at all.
I will be interested to read your book Jade.

the book is called:
"the moon and everday living"
use lunar energies to transform your life
by daniel pharr
here's what it says on the back of the book (cause i haven't read the book yet)
"LIVE THE LUNAR WAY............most people know that the moon affects the tides, and that farmers, fishermen, and others use the secrets of her monthly journey thru the zodiac for the successful timing of their efforts. now, you can easily use this same knowledge to make the right moves in any area of your life.
in the moon and everday living, daniel pharr takes an in-depth look at the overall effects of our inconstant lunar companion as it moves thru the 12 signs of the zodiac. then he takes the unique step of describing how the moon will specifically affect you as it makes its monthly cycle. the handy appendix and free chart offer will reveal your personal moon sign, which is an important key to your personality and experiences.
follow the simple directions for keeping a lunar fournal and energy log, and you will be well on your way to mastering -- or at least peacefully coexisitng with -- the powerful energies of the moon."
"daniel pharr is a writer, firewalking instructor, and pagan living in the pacific northwest. he is an avid practitioner or eastern and western spirituality, divination and energy work."
hope this assists in making the decision whether or not this book is for you. :)

Splitting hairs with the author: Shouldn't it be "Every Night" living?
