If you had to choose, which one would you pick?
I would pick KFC, because it has the closest thing to food.

Well Sam, I noticed you posted this but didn't share your favorite :)
For me, it depends on if I want a burger or pizza as my fast food. If it's a burger, it's have to be "Backyard Burgers", they have a fabulous Pepperjack mushroom burger and their shakes are out of this world.
If I want pizza, it has to be Little Ceasar's or Papa Johns. They both have great pizza and breadsticks, yum! :)

BURGER KING!
yay!
mmmmmm, love Burger King.
Dairy Queen uses some kind of synthic oils and it make me sick to my stomach. Worked for them for 3 days and suffered from High-pressure headaches, nose bleeds(which I have never had before or since) and some nerve damage. I do love their dairy products though.
Found a black white and red spider in my 2 year olds Happy Meal once and that cured me from going there. *McD's*
Wendy's is good too, but theres not one around here...yet.
So I love Burger King! (if I find a spider in theirs, I'll just settle for homemade and spider free!)

Did you know that in Australia, Burger King is called Hungry Jacks? Same company and chain, different name... I am sure there is a reason for it but I don't know it...
Anyway... my favourite is a local chain we have called "Chicken Treat". I worked there part time for five years while I was in High School and Uni and I still eat it now - Just shows how 'clean' and sanitary it all is... :P

If I want semi-healthy I'll go to Subways!
Burger King for burgers and fries...and Taco John's for mexican, but I'm biased, I work there part time and have never eaten anywhere else.
And I'll take Godfather's over PizzaHut anyday--they tend to be more generous with the toppings. Lots of cheese please!!

I am glad and relieved Fast Food, and especially Chain Fast Foods, never thrived in Italy - or at least in Naples.
I detest fast foods, and have no urge to eat in one of them. I don't find them fashionable or comfortable, or convenient or with decent food...
I worked in a CAFE and that keeps me away from Restaurants and Cafes... I may decie to work part time in a Fast Food, but I would send light and healing vibes in all the stuff I may be selling, and cast dismissing pentacles to keep people out of it... *LOL*
YUCK FAST FOODS!!!
Even if there were a vegetarian fast food I would hate it so much!!!

McDonalds for french fries, but Wendy's gets the rest of my votes. I *LUST* for Wendy's Bacon Mushroom Melt, which they only have every now and then. Their (again, limited time) Cheddar Bacon Lover's Cheeseburger is very nummy as well. And their chicken nuggets actually resemble chicken. For subs, I'll take Quizno's over Subway any day. Turkey/bacon/guacamole....mmm..... Mexican is usually a "family-owned" place (i.e. *real* Mexican food, not that Taco Bell wanna be stuff).

Hey DG: did you know In-n-Out used to have Bible verses printed on the bottom of their drink cups? they may still have them.
when i was i christian, i really dug that. I still think it's kind of subtly cool of them to show what they believe!
and i love El Pollo Loco! but out here the equivalent is called "Ya-Ya's" which is the stupidest name!
my fave is taco bell for general.
papa johns (not the chain, it's a local, cause i dont like the chain either) for pizza.
jersey gian for subs.

I would not go to any of the big fast-food chains. I have a little shop closeby that sells the yummiest rolls and sandwiches and another one that does wonderful chips and other deep-fried stuff and they don't give you a heap of wrapping material the size of mount everest.
I think this thread shows fast-food chains are not that popular in Europe ?

They've tried opening a McDonald's in Naples many a time apparently, but the locals kept burning it down!! I also heard about a guy in either southern France or northern Italy who drove his tractor into a McDonalds in his hometown (on purpose) when it opened!!!

i once ate at MacDonalds:(
ick!
i am with pollux here - i really can't stand fast food.
if i am in town and is hungry i go to a pizza-place for some excellent pizza, or i go to this little italian restuarant called Basilika for food just out of this world! like almondfilled fish and the most delicious garlic bread with tomatoes. one should not stress the food:)
in the north of sweden where i live they have several chains of hamburger places. only difference is that at our places they cook the food while you wait. so it is always 100% fresh.
only i don't like hamburgers much.

Marmalade: Well, I have no idea whether you are joking or not, I think you aren't. As for the tractor, I have no idea. It surely was not me, since I never went with a tractor in Northern Italy - it would take to much, and there are other quick ways to damage buildings ;) *LOL*
Joking aside, I didn't know about the Naples thing. And honestly, I am dubious about the "locals burning it down". I have no idea, anyway. Sadly, that I know, there are AT LEAST 3 MacDonalds here. 2 are HUGE, and one is medium. They keep working very well, and have lots of customers. I must admit it makes it feel more... metropolitan and cosmopolitic, but yet it is so sad, when after all there are small Pizzerie (I trust your intuition in understanding that ;)) that serve the most amazing and traditional and ORIGINAL pizzas, just 20 metres far away from Mc Donalds.
EDITED TO ADD (100th time I edit LOL). I just rememberes there also is a 4th MCDonald. It is in the CITY (yup, we have one to like in London :P) and iot is called MC MUSIC. I hear it is a much bigger and alternative Mc Donald thing, with Live Music, Freash dishes (pasta...), and some other plus stuff - maybe satellite channels, or saunas... gotta try *LOL*
It is more dramatic then I thought...
=> Can I ask you how you know of that? I would love to read more.
I repeat, I have bo idea for the "locals" burning it down, and I doubt it. BUT, you gave me a good idea with the tractor, even though it will be difficult to drive it to the town centre where McDonalds are, and I doubt my uncle will lend it to me... ;) *LOL*

The one thing I hate about fast-food chains is the way they are spoiling the scenery, especially in historical town centres.
For example, in June I visited the island of Malta and its beautiful old capital Valletta. I entered the city through the city gate and the first thing I saw was a Burger King and a huge sign pointing towards the McDonald's further down the road... :( They could have tried "blending in" a bit more...

brushette. ah, i am craving some now.
i did make pizza - but we had no italian cheese so i made it with ordinary swedish cheese and i added some fresh tamotoes - just thinly sliced, lots of basil (homegrown that too) some garlic and a few shrimps.
so not all italian traditional - but very good anyway:)
now i want some parma ham, some mozzarella cheese and try out a recepie i saw on TV a while back where you wrap the cheese in the ham and sprinkle with some olive oil and put it in the owen a while.
oh i am hungrly now!

My favorite is chinese takeout, if that counts. I think it's called "Lotus Garden". I love chinese food , even cheap chinese food. And for about $4.00 you get a Huge combo plate.
For pizza, I order "Blackjacks".
My son's very favorite is subway.
I really don't like mcDonald's- blech! But I have to admit I've been eating there when I shop at Walmart because they have a McDonald's inside and I'm hungry and it's very convenient!
I DID read in the newspaper Here that in France the people are Very opposed to fast food and the townspeople got together and destroyed a McDonald's!

Yes, a few years ago, a group of French farmers did destroy a McDonald's restaurant. I can't remember the exact details, but I think it had something to do with taxes being imposed by the US on certain products from the farmers, so they were losing part of their income. Whatever the details, it was a political protest, and it certainly wasn't about them being against fast food! ;)

OK... the tractor thing i saw on a TV show, where the guy who did it admitted to doing it, and I forget where I heard the burning the McDonald's down in Naples thing, but I'm pretty sure my boss told me just after a trip to Naples. I wasn't totally sure to believe it or not, but he was pretty adament about it, and I have no idea how long ago this apparently happened!
personally, i try to stay away from the greasy burgers when possible, especially when travelling, but there are times when i just get the urge for some nice fatty almost-food, or just want to eat quickly.

Harvey's, for sure :D
I was taken there as a kid and I've been hooked since. They've got the yummiest burgers (we're talking real identifiable meat :-O) and they're the only place I've ever been to (including posh restaurants) that does "proper" veggie burgers - not a bunch of random frozen veg in a goop base fried in batter, but actual soy protein (or whatever they use) made approximately to the texture and taste of beef. :9
Oh and their pickles *rock*. Since leaving Canada (and Harvey's) behind, I've spent my life searching for pickles - any pickles - that are as good as Harvey's pickles, and I still can't find any.
*loves her pickles* (No, not _that_ way. :p)
Hasn't anyone else here heard of Harvey's? They have them in Canada (at least they did, last thing I heard) and I believe they might have them in the States too.

Burgerville :D It's this small chain of burger places between central Washington and central Oregon. They use mostly locally produced stuff. Blackberry milkshakes to die for, :*
It's about an hour or so drive from us, but it's the best.
Aside from that, Taco Time, Wendy's or, lately, Arby's. But I tend to get more healthy things from them - and I'd rather eat at locally owned places if I can.

I would have to say Chipotle....if you've not experienced it, I pity you! ;)
It's fast-food, tex-mex stuff...basically, just burritos and tacos. for five bucks or less you get a steak, chicken or veggie burrito with rice, black beans, choice of homemade, fresh salsas, guacamole, sour cream, cheese, lettuce...everything's super fresh and really, really good. these burritos are as big as a child's head, I swear!

I ate a lot of Domino's pizza in college, which I now regret, since I now am aware of the owner, his religion, and his politics.
Usually I go to Subway's if I don't feel like driving to the Thai buffet.
When I want burgers and fries, it has to be Steak 'n' Shake or don't bother.

My understanding is that Domino's was formerly owned by a fellow named Thomas Monaghan, who still sits on the board and owns the largest share of the stock.
Mr. Monaghan is some kind of eccentric Roman Catholic. He is a major donor to Operation Rescue and similar organisations.

I don't frequent places like McDonalds and Burger King. You just have to think about how much rain forest is destroyed in South America to have cattle there to produce some more Big Mac's and stuff like that. Besides, the McDonald's here around look so dirty, so I better don't think about their kitchens.

Catlin, I've no idea why, but every McDonald I have seen, whether it be in Whinchester, London, Naples, Rome, Florence, Milan, Madrid... anywhere I found one, they all stink of pee... Maybe it is a psychic sensation rather than an actual stench? Might be, but it enough to put me off even more... :P
And once, in London, we all were there appliying for a job, and all of a sudden this terrbile stench of vomit, pee, rotten food and what no, coming from the area of the toilettes. And it WAS real since not only I, but also my pals and fellow-applicants and examiners smelt it...
UGH!!!!!!! :(
