I graduated in 1976. Music I want to remember from those evil times includes:
Stranglehold - Ted Nugent
Sabbath Bloody Sabbath - Black Sabbath
Gloria, Free Money, and Land - Patti Smith
Rebel, Rebel and Diamond Dogs - Bowie
Riders On the Storm - Doors
Angie - Rolling Stones
Black Mariah - Todd Rundgren
Do You Feel Like We Do - Frampton
---
The Art of Courtly Love - David Munrow & London Consort
Carmina Burana - Carl Orff/Szell/Cleveland Orchestra
Vesperć Marić Virginis 1610 - Claudio Monteverdi
Ars Antiqua - Musica Antiqua Köln
Mass in B Minor - J. S. Bach
I listened to a lot more classical music than was considered wholesome back then.

Yeah like now, there are people with "Get Bach" World tour shirts standing out side the concert halls doing "air violin".
**Sorry, I slipped back into surrealism there for a moment.*** :D
I have to say I did not get into classic music until I was in college. I worked for a station that was classical music in the morning and rock in the evening, and I had one show on either side of the genre. Had to wind it there for a while since my taste in classical music was about the knowledge of the Kill the Wabbit cartoon for Bugs Bunny......

Oh gawd! I graduated in 1981. I tend to suppress alot of high school.....but, here's what little music I remember and enjoyed:
Night Moves: Bob Seger - well, actually anything by Bob, as I was a Detroit girl!
Let's Go (I think that's the name of it): The Cars
Limelight, Tom Sawyer, & Subdivisions: Rush
Kashmir: Led Zeppelin
Cat Scratch Fever: Ted Nugent (ditto what I said about Bob, for the same reason!)
Year of the Cat: hmmmmmm....can't remember who did this
What I Like About You: the Romantics
Panama: Van Halen
Some song by Heart that keeps running through my brain, but I can't remember the actualy words from it.
I have to say, I grew up in the Detroit 'burbs, and we were known as the best metal city in the states at the time. Not that I'm proud of that or anything....LOL
These are some of the songs that take me back. Some might have hit a year or so after I graduated, but hey, folks, it's been 21 years, what do you expect?

That was a great cartoon. . .
I was a young SCAdian wannabe back then. To get me to pay much attention to it, the classical music had to be in Latin, and somehow relate to Ye Olden Tymes.

music from movie "heavy metal"

that's all i can remember. i was more into classical music and growing out of country at the time. rock is really an acquired taste. but now i can't stand country and like rock from the sixties, seventies and eighties.

... But I don't really know what was on the top-lists at that time... I listened to old Heavy Metal-stuff that I'd get in Nice Price-copies, bands I can't remember and that you'd probably never heard of...!
Some of the less unknown bands were: Krokus, Y&T, Asia, Bonfire... My main idols were Def Leppard, but I think by that time they hadn't really made any recent releases, at least non that had caught my attention. I stuck with my old, vinyl , almost worn out copies of Hysteria and Pyromania...!
When I got into College though, I bought my first CD-player and had to start all over collecting music. At that time I had an 80-period, and bought TONS of 80's collections...
Ahh the 80's, decade of horrible fashion and GREAT music...! :D

Oh, the memories. Mom liked watching MTV when I was little so I'm very familiar with 80's popular music. But I graduated in 2001 so I guess it really wouldn't be that interesting to see my soundtrack. But It would have a lot of Dave Matthews Band on it I assure you.

I still like it.
I think I saw all of the bands mentioned in our threads at one time or another, not particularly while in high school, but when I lived in Detroit. We used to get all of them; Detroit was and is a big concert city! In fact, Led Zeppelin was my first ever concert, when I was in grade 8. A teacher took a bunch of us. At the time, it broke all indoor concert records. One of my last big concerts was the Rolling Stones, in ....'82, I think. I got grounded for sneeking out to see them... :)

Oh yeah. At the Neptune in Seattle, me and my little gang. :)
One of my friends won 2nd place in the (5th) anniversary costume contest and got a lifetime free pass. First prize was the oil painting used for the cover Meatloaf's Bat Out of Hell album. I'll never forget the first time he picked me up, in full dress costume as Frank in the elevator scene. Heh Heh. My dad told me later he almost slammed the door in his face.
And what a good reason to stay out until three or four in the morning, LOL.
I even took my mom once, she thought it was strange, but cool. Of course, she also really liked Pink Floyd, Supertramp, and AC/DC.
