Ok, it's the Fashion Police here... :D
What time did you grow up in and what was the worst outfit you ever wore or the worst haircut you ever had??
I grew up in the eighties, which I think was the absolutely worst period fashion-wise. I mean: the colours we were supposed to wear, the big hair, the giant earrings, the shoulder pads...
I used to have a pink dress with light-blue ribbons on it. The type of dress that would be cute for a 3-year old, but not for a 15-year old!!! :| In my defence: adult women were wearing the same type of dresses at the time...
Anyway, I soon had enough of all the pink and pastels and switched to the New Wave look: faded black trousers and oversized shirts with lots of fake pearl necklaces and bracelets. Think of Robert Smith from The Cure and you've got the picture... :D

Good timing TarotLady!
I think I will look back on what I did yesterday and be talking about it to a future psychologist...
I just died my hair orange and it is very dramatic! I have blond hair normally so it really stands out. Never done this before but in the spirit of change, I felt the need.

My 9th grade picture in 1987 still does not have any copies left of it because I had long ago burned them all.
Picture this, a typical teen, unsure of her self esteem, plagued with a teen's case of acne, toned in silver brackets around the teeth from the braces.
My mother, in her ever questionable judgement, made me wear this awful rainbow polyester plaid dress (all the colors of the prisms in thread were represented) that a friend made for her for picture day. Note, she gave this gift to make me wear, and the dress was supposed to be for her......
To top off this look, a purple bow around the neck a la' french style, and glitter hairspray on my animal-sitting-on-my-head-hairdo, making my hair shape into a perfect triangle on film and lighting up the scenery like a yule tree gone horribly wrong.....

You know, when I consider my follically challenged condition (I'm bald), bad haircuts don't seem so bad anymore.
As to clothing, there was the entire decade of the 70's and the leisure suit at the Junior Prom. (Hides head in shame).

Ooooh kayne i love your new hair it looks really sexy on you :)
I used to wear all the fluroescent stuff popular in the 80's while i was in grade school, along with my jelly bracelets, and those cheap plastic necklaces that you bought all those cheap plastic charms for that did things, and my velcro sneakers hehe

Kayne,
On a brighter note, your friends will never lose track of you at a shopping mall.

Kayne, I your new hair color! It's awesome :) And fitting for the artist of Aeclectic.
As for fashion police clothing, as bad as the 80's were (remember parachute pants? and wearing anklet socks with heels?), the 70's were worse. Horrible patterns put together in a single outfit, leisure suits, white belts and shoes for men (ugh!), long, Elvis sideburns, shag carpeting... (shuddering)

my worst error was to ever believe i would feel comfortable in fashion clothes at all. i just don't do fashion anymore.
i buy all my clothes (except underclothes like knickers and bras) second-hand or inherit from the odd relative.
i love gypsy-skirts and cardigans and can't wear anything that is not cotton.
long dresses are nice too.
my worst ever outfit was when i borrowed a little suit from a friend, short tight skirt, blouse with ruffles and pantyhose and high-heels. i felt AWFUL and just couldn't relax for a minute - and not walk either.

Hair. The styles I can stand, I just hate looking back at my hair. For my sophomore picture I didn't brush the wavy curls out of my hair after I washed it and I pulled one side down over my left eye. What was that about?????? LOL
I used to wear different earrings. My friends and I would go to the mall and buy a pair of long dangly earrings and we'd each take ONE. We'd wear the long one in our left ear and a stud one in our right. Not to mention slave-chain bracelets, skull rings, guitar picks on chains, concert t-shirts, jean jackets with pins and patches....

I was a complete punk rocker...late 80's punk, that is, so we were trying to recreate the real thing... I had a bright purple mohawk, and wore a lot of ratty clothes that made my mom cry. Even my Hi tops had holes in them! Then I let my hair grow out, and went Goth, which looked a lot better, but my poor mom thought I was going to start doing smack or something, and was practicing to be a dead person. She tried really hard to get me to prep out, with NO success. I'm a bellbottoms and tank tops kinda girl now. With a dash of Abercrombie. And I let my hair grow REALLY long.

Early '80s, I did the whole gothy dress in black nothing but black with knee-high boots, powdered face blah blah
In general I'm a fashion cop's worst nightmare. I'm completely irreverent to style. I wear clothes that are comfy and clean- the rest just doesn't matter. :P

I was a kid in the 70s and a teen in the 80s. My absolute worst outfit has to be my prom dress--bright fushia with black trim, to the floor, off one shoulder, with a big "flounce" (ruffle, whatever it's called) at the neck. I loved it back then!
I also wore...buffalo shoes (anyone remember those?) and tube tops, and iron-on shirts with charlie's angels and fonzie (heehee), then black concert tees (Led Zeppelin!) with ripped jeans and feather earrings (just one, a stud in the other ear), which my mom hated and flushed down the toilet! Then the "Cyndi Lauper wearing clothes from Michael Jackson's closet look"--red space-fabric jacket with zippers, matching black pants with zippers, lace gloves, and a fedora (yuck!), silk ties, high hair, too much blue eyeshadow, "pleather". The flashdance look, ripped off the shoulder sweatshirts, layered over another shirt or two.
All bad ideas, but hey, that was the style.

My worst fashion blunder was 2 years ago when I dyed my hair blue!! God was it bad!!! And then to top it all off, later on that year, I dyed it this maroon purple colour. I think it was like a L'Oreal colour though. It was pretty bad. Now, I just colour it a light blond.
Although, I now want to streak it blond, and then streak it with either green, or bright red.
BTW. Kayne. SEXY!! That is the color that I want to go, but not that intense.

When I was little, I had a mushroom cut. I looked like a female Toad (The little mushroom-head guy from Super Mario.)
and the overalls... oh, the overalls. I woulden't wear anything else. they were green courduroy, with a frog patch sewn on so it looked like it was peeking out of the pocket.
Nowadays, I'm better (Though not by much.) My hair is long and blondish (Think Jay from Jay & Silent Bob.) and I wear mostly old uniform shirts I get from the V V boutique. (My best find to date is a 'Mr.Wash' uniform shirt.) and baggy jeans. I also have a pair of grey suede high-tops (Old-school converse style! only.. they're not converse.) I got for $8 that I wear EVERYWHERE. I also wear my black bucket hat everywhere. it's got a no-U-Turn patch on it. :D

Heck that was me yesterday!
My hair was neon red just six months ago, I always like making my daughters teachers wonder......
I have a neat tropi-gothical skirt that I sew with this tye dyed fabric with lightning, trees and bats (actually they use the same fabric at Tarot totes!) But I got the fabric in both blue (for the skirt) and red for the back of my jean jacket!

LOL, Violet! Too great! See the biggest difference is I used to wear the jeans you had to jump into from across the room. With 2 pairs of socks that would match whatever concert tee (tee's were oversized and not tucked in because after putting on those jeans all your excess fat was pushed up above the waistline!) I was wearing and then you tucked in the bottoms of your jeans into your socks... almost a leg-warmer look.
Now I just wear jeans and a t-shirt usually. I try to buy my clothes bigger than I am just to make up for being so uncomfortable for so many years! And LOL, Laurel, you have CLEAN clothes! Even my clean clothes aren't clean from all the "kid" stains!

tube tops, and iron-on shirts with charlie's angels and fonzie (heehee), then black concert tees (Led Zeppelin!) with ripped jeans and feather earrings (just one, a stud in the other ear) I should *never* have worn a tube top. I shudder to see girls much, ahem, *bigger* then I ever was at their age wearing them now. I suppose the fabrics like spandex & lycra make them a little more stable, but still....
I remember being a little girl in the early '70's and my mom buying me a...[drum roll here] leather, beaded tie on head band! I still rmember being completely dismayed at it, but not wanting to hurt my mom's feelings. I must have been about 10 at the time....
In the '90's, I remember wearing the DocMartins with tights and cut-off's look. I wore Doc's with alot of stuff, but never to work, because they wouldn't let me. They just about passed out when I came in with my naval pierced in '95!
I like some fashion, but I tend to be a "classics" sort of gal. I love wearing my pantsuits with tee-shirts...I'm not a frilly gal.
One of my girlfriends back when I lived in Calgary used to just get scared duirng lunches downtown, especially with the black nylons with white shoes look that some women still insist on wearing. Ugh.

I remember I had this tube top that I wore one day, strutting 14 year old going down the street in a tube top and daisy duke shorts, getting whistles and whoops wherever I went, thinking I was hot stuff, till I realized that the top had slid down a bit and I was actually....um....I should have asked for money for the show.....

I was a teenager in the 70s, so I used to wear all kinds of lurid prints - psychadelic swirls of turquoise, cerise, lime-green, black and white! And short skirts - ooh, I wouldn't be caught dead in 'em now! And we won't talk about the tight scarlet trousers that my Mum bought for herself and then gave to me because she didn't like being whistled at in the street! And the hot-pants - but all of 'em were in fashion at the time.
I once went out for dinner in the posh frock - black satin, floor-length and bare shoulders, over which I wore a long black velvet cloak with a crimson satin lining. The restaurant was in an old manor-house and as I came up the stairs, one of the other diners screamed and almost fainted - she thought I was a ghost!

In the early 90's I sported a mullet. Yep! I used to cut my own hair. (still do) And one of the haircuts I gave myself went a little too short. The top was about a half inch long! The back I left longer. It felt so nice because I could just wash it and go! I finally grew it out but it took Forever! I wanted the style that everyone else had at the time. Just straight one length hair cut straight at the shoulders. But my hair is really curly and the style never looked right on me at all. Now it is long and doesn't really have any style. The summer is so hot that I wear it up in a pony tail every single day.
I was a teenager in the 70's and I Loved the clothes I wore then! I remember one favorite outfit: Cranberry colored soft corduroy hip hugger bellbottom pants with a thick leather belt! The pants HAD to be bellbottoms, I wouldn't be caught dead in anything else. They Had to fit skintight until the mid calf where they flared out. Another favorite pair of jeans. Skintight hiphuggers with holes all over them! With the cranberry pants I wore a patterned button down cranberry and white shirt with sleeves that were slightly poofy! Very cool baby :) .

Hiding head in shame. LOL.
In Jr. High I clearly remember a short tunic dress that barely covered me. And I was a bit chubby as a kid. Ack. Not to mention my months of rebellion when I wore the same jeans nearly every day for months, I remember they had a fake fur patch on the knee. I did have other jeans, but I would only wear those. What was I thinking?????? And the Famolare (sp?) platform shoes I refused to give up until high school.
Then in high school in the late 70's to 1980 there were the jeans so tight we had to zip them up laying down and using a coat hanger. And tube tops. :D
