Are there specific colors for each chakra? I would like to use the colors in a healing prayer. I think colors can really stimulate/soothe emotions. Any other chakra info. would be appreciated. Thanks, Jeanette

Jeanette, good question. i, too, use the colors of the rainbow. and i Love Colors! i do think they have emotion attached to them.
most of my art is done in all the rainbow colors. it is soothing for me to use them and i feel like i'm getting an energy 'refreshment' from them.
i find my color preferences change periodically. it usually depends on how i'm feeling and what's going on in my life. very spiritual feelings bring on yellow for me. healing is green and tranquility is blue. unconditional love is pink, protection is white. meditation and opening to higher powers is purple. also when i'm feeling vexed i like purple.
i only like to wear black and white. i'm totally neurotic that way. i work all day with colors and don't like what i'm wearing to interfere.
oh, i forgot red and orange. orange for me is social and outgoing. red can be passion or anger and i tend to shy away from it.
right after sept. 11, i was having to paint a bunch of boards blood red for our gallery. i could hardly manage to do it. it evoked sorrow and anger within me. i was glad to get away from that.
ok, i've babbled on enough. hope you keep up your chakra work!

Thank you all for your help. New River, thanks for your color input. I'm just investigating chakras, it's so interesting. The older I get, the less I know! :) Jeanette

Pardon my spelling errors - I'm French .......so sometimes my English slips away
I meant "displayed" - not display

Just thought i'd add how the color pink is used in rooms to soothe mental imbalances and criminal tendencies.
also red and yellow are used by the food industry to stimulate appetite.
color influences many aspects of our lives without our being aware of it. the more aware we become, the more we are able to check reactions that may not be coming from ourselves.

I think colors are certainly very interesting. I also believe in their uses for things. However, I happen to feel that colors are individual to the people perceiving them. I personally find nothing soothing about pink what so ever. I love all colors equally. Pink however has a personal meaning to me, and I absolutely loathe it. So I don't know how all things will work for people. Some say that the colors of blue make people sad in great quantities. It's not true for all though. I think we can only make colors feelings for ourselves. The interpretations are solely our own choices :)
