I noticed in a response on one of the boards that someone had embraced this and it sounded extremely interesting. Of course, I can't find it again without re-reading everything and wondered if anybody could point me in the right direction?
I've been a Spiritualist for most of my life, but never felt the received wisdom was exactly right for me and so have always had my own bent on it. As described, Christian Gnosticism sounds as if it has plenty to offer.
Look forward to hearing from you!

LouiQ, hi! i don't think we've met but welcome to the boards.
i am going to tell you the main source i know for this topic. just bringing up this name may cause controversy! :-)
but...........
a good source for learning more about christian gnostisism are sylvia brown's books. she is the notorious psychic seen on tv. she has also started her own church based on these beliefs.
i know there are some here who may have strong feelings about this, but if you want information it is there.
what i know about it is that it is based on what jesus tried to teach, unconditional love. treating others as we would like to be treated. and treating yourself the same way!
maybe instead of labeling our religions we could just begin truely practicing this concept!
i have a spiritualist background since about 10 yrs. ago and altho i enjoyed their more open ways and discussions of spirit, i, too, found much lacking here. i guess it is all truely within us to discover our own truth.
good luck with this.
love, light and hope, New River

A great book about Christian Gnosticism is by Peter Gandy and Timothy Freke, called 'The Jesus Mysteries: Was the original Jesus a Pagan God?' Also, the follow up to this by the same guys is called 'Jesus and The Goddess'. They both sound Pagan, but they focus on the early Gnostic tradition of Christianity. The first one is absolutely amazing! (So brilliant, that I don't miss a chance to give it credit!) I think both are published by Thorssons.

New River & Kiama: Thanks for all the useful tips - I'll have a look round for them.
Deso: Fraid all I can remember of what you said was that it was fascinating and I wanted to know more! If you can point me back to where you mentioned it, I should be able to pick up the thread again.

Sorry, LouiQ, I've looked around and can't find where the heck that post was.............oh well............I'll try to get my old brain to remember.........I was talking about my Christian past (not too pleasant)..............started my search............many paths/religions/groups looked into................big fat circle brought me right back into Christianity.............but one that speaks to my heart.........we are all Christs-in-training............reincarnation..........meditation...........learning our powers...........Jesus was an example..............don't believe in heaven or hell (only as metaphor)............yeahhhhhh, I think that covers it. The group of which I speak is the Unity Centre. You might have one in your hometown or you can check out their website ........... which I don't know off hand but I do know it exists........... did this help?????
