Remember I said I had a question on what you wrote to Kiama in one of her posts that "God is everything"?
Now, I was reading those posts when I was ill with flu. And I kept on thinking "If God is Everything, is he also influenza?".
Now, although this question came out of a slightly delirious feverish (but nevertheless inquiring) mind, I wouldn't mind getting your opinion on this in light of your "God is Everything" statement.
Oh, and thanks for the "Hail Citizen". I hadn't even noticed, and I was so looking forward to eating some chocolate cake. Damn, missed my own party! But Kiama has made up for it with her calory-full recipes.

sorry, but this reminds me of one of those 'Deep Thoughts, by Jack Handey' things from Saturday Night Live...
"If God truly is in everyone, like some people suggest, then i hope he likes enchiladas, cause that's what He's getting!"

If A = B, and B = C, then A = C.
If God is Love, and love is a fuzzy sweater, then God is a fuzzy sweater.
(This one has been going around since the early 1960s, if not earlier)

:D :D :D You all crack me up! :D :D :D
Next you'll be asking me to solve the problem with evil! :D :D :D
Nonetheless, I stand by my belief that God is everything. I don't expect you to agree with me and it isn't possible for me to prove my belief. The best I can do is to live my life in accord with what I believe. }>

Diana (29 Jan, 2002 20:53):
Major Tom: I was not being sarcastic at all with my question. I hope you didn't take it that way. The notion of God being everything is not foreign to me - my mother (whom I often suspected of being half-angel, half human) was a practising Christian Scientist, and I often heard her talking like that.
No, I was just being curious as to your point of view.
Diana - I did not think you were being sarcastic with your question - I know you are seriously trying to understand. I hope you didn't find my laughter insulting - but I really don't know of any other way to respond...
I mean let's examine your question in various lights all presuming to examine the notion that God is Everything:
If God is everything is he also influenza? Yes.
If God is everything is she also a peanut butter sandwich? Yes.
If God is everything is it also me? Yes.
If God is everything is it also you? Yes.
Do you see? Ask me if anything or everything is God and my answer is yes. I don't exclude anything when I say everything. How else can I honestly respond to questions like yours except with laughter?
I do hope this clarifies my belief for you. :-)

Maybe the question should be:
"Is everything God?"

Major Tom: Oh no, I think your laughter is great (well, at least we understand each other's intentions).
Your reply well received, thought about and understood. That's it. Thanks a million.

if god is everything that means he is also the DEVIL (a little food for thought). the way I see it is that GOD is energy and seeing that everything that exists in this universe is made up of energy then god is in everything. 8)

Where is the contradiction with all this? So, God is in eveything, therefore he is also in bad things. *SO?* Who are we, as human beings, to assume this world was created specifically for us, and that it *has*to be a hedonistic paradise, with no evil or pain or suffering? Think of God as a parent. No parent wants their child to live in a purely hedonistic paradise, with no challenges along the way cuz they don't grow, do they? Its the same with God.

I think of God as no good or evil. He's somehow both to me.
He is just God, what or who is so high and inscrutable that cannot be said to be white instead of black.
I don't know... ??? Maybe I'll chage my mind while I think about it. But I can't think of God as GOOD, because soon after the EVIL pops up, and... bo?
Well, maybe he is good.
As Light and Shadow: it is not like Light and Darkness (= a lack of Light), they are sort of "counterparts", shadow creates when light touches something, an cannot exist without light. Shadow is maybe the inner nature, somewhat "outdone" by Light and therefore not easily detected.
I'm rambling too.......... ???
P.S. maybe the misapprehension is the need to think of God as containing everything (as the topic discussed...) and therefore even the evil. ???

Only if you believe the Devil exists, or that he was ever a separate being...

At the end of the (dreary) movie 'Legend', Tim Curry as the Devil falls into the abyss and looks up at Heaven and calls ' Father- save me!' -- Something to think about.
For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.
This is why I laugh at the people who praise god, but deny that there is evil in the world. Evil exists so that people can work towards something better.
