Implications of Energy Return

Following the debate upon the existence of a threefold law, boomerang effect, return to sender etc law, I wondered if anyone has any thoughts on the following questions. Does energy return have any place in an ethical stance? If the energy returned is neutral, does it therefore have any direct impact on the way we carry out our lives? Maybe we could also discuss the anology of energy return being likened to a web of existence, where tapping one bit will send vibrations/energy throughout the rest of it, thus implying more than a simple two way/there and back energy return? Anyone have any thoughts? Martin

Martin: I've been waiting eagerly for people to reply to your post. (I bet you have been too.) But it seems like the echo has bounced off into outer space. No echo-return here. Firstly, I don't know what you mean by your first question. Can you please use different words? Why would the starting point be "if the energy returned is neutral". Can energy be neutral? And why would one suppose that the energy is returned anyway? Or is one to assume that the three-fold return is an acceptable hypothesis? Sorry to sound so abrupt. This thread sounds really interesting, but I really don't know personally how to go about responding to it, except for sort of "huh??" questions. :confused: Which chakra should I be cleaning in order to get my brain attuned to yours? ;) :)

Hello Diana! Well, this is a follow on from the debate on the threefold law. That had kind of run its course, and Kiama & I both concluded that we thought that the threefold law was a bit unlikely. We then had an interesting discussion about energy having to be balanced, so what is sent out comes back. Of course, this "boomerang effect" is linked with ethics, so you don't send out negativer energy if you don't want it back. Of course, what is negative is dependent upon ones cultural frame of reference and many other factors. So we concluded that energy that comes back isn't a "punishment" or "reward", but just energy. In light of that the next logical progression is what the implications of "energy returns" are. The first question is whether one believes that should/could one make ethical decisions based upon the idea that what is sent comes back? The point of energy being "neutral" is that it is neither good nor bad, it is energy. In fact both polarity therapy and the three gunas suggest three polarities, positive/Yang/masculine/Rajas, negative/Yin/feminine/Tamas and neutral/Tao/hermaphroditic/Sattvic. It is analogous to the God & Goddess being aspects of one genderless neutral force. Therefore, if one assumes that "good" and "bad" are labels we put onto the effects of returned energy based upon personal and changing criteria, is a "boomerang effect" any use as a guideline in how to behave ethically? The third question is whether perhaps, rather than energy simply going out from us and then returning in order to balance things out, whether perhaps it is more like a spiders web, where our whole sphere of influence is affected by what energy we send out. Basically I just wondered what people feel the implications of energy returning to them are, or conversely if felt that it doesn't return to us, what the implications of that are. "Which chakra should I be cleaning in order to get my brain attuned to yours?" It's not chakra clearing, it's chakra addling!! And believe me, you wouldn't want a brain that was attuned to mine!! Well, the implications of energy returning are quite deep... If we assume that we put labels on that energy due to our experience of it, then we shall say, for the sake of saving my poor, over-worked fingers and keyboard, that either positive, negative, or neutral energy returns to us. Some people would argue then, that our morality is not goodness, but selfishness, and we're only moral to try and escape punishment. Maybe. We cannot truly know whether or not this is the case (There is no experiment for this type of thing) I seriously doubt that a 'boomerang effect' is any use as an ethical guideline. Cuz then we get people who just don't care about getting things like energy returned to them, and will do unethical things anyway. And the Spiders' Web effect thing is useles too as an ethial guildeline, cuz then you get people who don't care that their actions are affecting others... Kiama

Well ethics basically is very common sense like. Yep some people do not care and will continue to do negative things and watch their life go down the drain again this can be taken as a learning experience or not that is up to the individual. I know one person who has done so much negativity and still continues to do it despite how her life has ended up. Maybe I have just seen more of the boormerange affect and no it will not make some people behave more ethically but I know it would make me learn something from the experience.

Think of energy return as a set of weighing scales. If you plonk a weight on one end, it will never balance unless you plonk a weight on the other, or alternatively remove the first weight again. Its exactly the same. For something to exist, it must contain something of the other or have an equal reaction! The mass of the feather and the scale.
