Greetings people.
I was wondering... how can I improve my skills in 'talking' with animals? I wish I could understand them better.
Do you have any experience with this? Any advice?
Blessings,
~aeonx~

hey aenox --- I will be able you answer your question better in a few weeks... I'll be taking a "Communicating with Animals" class at a local "new age" center. :) fun!
but, meanwhile..... I did read a really good book about this called "Animal Talk" -- and I think the author is Penelope Smith, but I'm not really sure on her name.
good luck.

I got my deck of Medicine Cards and that helped me to understand alot. Now when I see the same animal lots of times in one day, or a particular animal keeps hanging around... I just look them up in my book to see what their medicine is and what they're trying to tell me.
For instance... I had a spider that was in my front window for the longest time. Usually spiders creep me out! But I felt a connection with this one. She was trying to tell me to share my knowledge.
I also pay attention to crows (that's one of my totems) to tell me when I'm doing something wrong, and to Hawks (that's another one) for messages.

i have a couple of simple ones;
never smile or otherwise show your teeth, it's read as a threat.
if possible, get down to the animals level.
patience, patience, patience
tap into that universal, we're all one, thing. o.k. maybe this one's not that simple :)

zorya, I love the mix of very scientific/logical approach and more spiritual level in your advices. Thums up to you!!!!

try just talking to them like a person.
Had a spider coming twords my bed. Did not want to get up and move him. but I didn't want to smash him when he unexpectidly crawled on me.
So I said spider I don't want to kill you accidentally so you should go the other way.
the spider stopped to listen while I spoke and when I was done it turned and went the other way

Hey all,
Make your thought blank and your heart at peace.. kind of like entering the Void mode. After you do that, you make a simple thought (whatever you want to ask or comment with the creature) strong toward the creature.. wait for like 10 seconds, keeping the mind and heart clear still, the thoughts of creature would pop into your mind :) Sincerity and trust in your thought and voice is very important .
It worked for me, so I hope it would work for you too.

I feel animals really can tell how you feel about them; if you are afraid, or if you like them.
When getting to know a new animal, be calm. Talk to them in a calm, friendly, even tone of voice. Tell them how beautiful they are, and how good. Domesticated animals like that.
Wild animals, I've found like that as well, but if you want them to come closer, you have to be calm, and quiet after you greet them.
And, as zorya says, patience, patience, patience. :D

Hi aeonx,
Don't forget that animals use different languages, eg dogs and cats so maybe you should specify what animal you wish to contact in particular.
I remember my "communication" with a group of gorillas + a silver back in the zoo. I started to communicate with one member of his group for quite a while when I "said" something offensive by accident. Suddenly, the silver back jumped up from the corner where he had observed my communication with his mate/kid, ran across the cage and lunged at me. I did not flinch back as I had caught his intention before but all the other ppl around jumped back and we all were very glad that there was the glass in between.
I usually speak in normal voice with my cats but also purr at them or blink at them what they especially like. I also use mind language.
