hi guys. Since I have a LOT of free time now (thanks to the unemployment fairy, heh heh) I am looking for some books to read... more specifically, I am looking for books on Magick type stuff -- and all it entails, i.e. witchcraft, mathmematics, astrology, developing psychic powers, other worlds, magickal creatures, etc. I love dense, intellectual books -- stuff I can really sink my teeth into.... (yep. I'm a nerd.)
any suggestions? :) (AmounrA -- where are ya???)
(haha.... AND on another note... any (low-budget) "to do" suggestions... to fight the boredom fairy...?) :D

joya--
have you ever gone to the main branch of the library in center city? you'll find a great bunch of books there. i used to haunt it almost every weekend.
oh, for a good read try 'sophie's world' or 'the solitare mystery' by gaardner (i think that's the proper spelling... )
and the trader's corner on south street has some great used books.

go to a libary and read up on the spiritual stuff i could fiction, and otherwise.
but my favourite is there is a used bookstore in winniepg called black's light i think and it is old books form the 70s even that are no longer in print.
and another book store which had tons of obscure stuff from like the 60s, and 70s,
which interests me for it is suprising to see some of today concepts were around back then but in differnt forms,, complex descriptions that confused me eheh
even in my book coolers (i took all my books from my boxes and put them into coolers for i had no chest) i got a book called postive magic i never was into magic but i know it is there when i want to venture forth and a book i never read called psychic politics by seth by jane roberts. up to now i read seth speask and went to read it and i went this is some heavy stuff so i got it in the chest for when i am ready.
perhaps you have some old books you never read that you could finally read? an old book is kind of like a treasure to me.

hi guys. thanks.
Steve, you know I went to the main library the other day -- and I was extremely dissappointed!!!! Their occult section is tiny -- and it's mostly filled with "feel-good" "the light saved me" type books. AND -- when I did find two books I actually wanted -- one wasn't on the shelf (it should have been) -- and the other they had to dig out of storage, but of course they couldn't find it. VERY FRUSTRATING!!!! So, I'm not a big fan of the Philadelphia Public Library. Blah!

I don't think it's Philly, Libraries all have a tough time keeping the stuff on the shelves,if they buy it at all, It gets stolen I'm told *sigh* Try Mythology and Celtic history and mythology. If it's academic and you know what you want by author and title you might be able to get it through interlibrary loan. Then there is the wonder of a good used book store. There's lots out there and many used bookstores do not seem to care if you curl up with a thermos full of tea or coffee as long as you don't spill on the books. I hope you find the perfect job soon...and can start buying books again.
