Ontop a high hill Liliana slowly sprinkles a circle of salt water.. As people join her she hands them a small bag of herbs. The altar is decorated with a shiny gold cloth and is facing south, and before it lies the makings of a huge bonfire.
She then proceeds to the center and says
"I celebrate the noon of Summer with this rite
held in honor of the Blazing God of the Sun...
All of nature vibrates with the fertile energies
of the Goddess and the God.
The Earth is bathed with the warmth,
and light and life of the Sun.
The Wheel of the Year turns again...
since Yule the light has been growing ever stronger.
At Ostara the light finally became greater than the dark,
and the light has kept on growing until today,
the middle of the time of light, Litha, Midsummer.
From here, the light begins to fade again, until once more,
the Wheel will turn to darkness and Yule will return.
Today the Sun is high, the Light is bright, the Earth is warm.
As the Lord of the Sun blazes above,
the Fires of my celebration shall flame below."

| Kiama |

I'm gonna light the Fire!
*Kiama walks slowly to the pyre, with a lit torch, and says:
"Before the Gods and the Old Ones,
We kindle thee,
O Fire of Midsummer,
As a reminder of the God's zenith in the sky,
His sexual peak,
His fire and passion."
*She lights the Fire*
"As you burn and flame, consume and smoke,
So may our lives have passion,
May our convictions burn in our hearts,
May our words inspire,
And our thoughts remain eternally shining.
May our plans and projects come to fruition,
And may our lives be enriched with the warmth,
Love, and creativity that we see in your Flames.
Blessed are we!!!"

By the powers of the Lord & of the Lady,
By the powers of Earth, Air, Fire & Water,
Purification I petition of Thee.
I banish Sorrow, Disease & Strife;
All that keepeth me & mine from Life!
[as the herbal pouch burns to ashes]
O great God & Goddess,
Old Ones of Earth, Air, Fire & Water,
Draw nigh unto me
As I consecrate this Midsummer Night!

29 Jun 2002 |
|
*Mermaid approaches the fire with a small woven pouch, containing Cinnamon, Bergamot & Catnip, and tosses it into the centre of the fire. As it catches alight, she calls:
God and Goddess!
As this pouch burns, help me to release my regrets and worries. As these herbs burn, allow me to be purified and healed.
I ask for courage and wisdom for me and mine, in the coming year.
So mote it be. *

| Kiama |
29 Jun 2002 |
|
*Kiama appoaches the fire, with a crumpled up, tear stained letter, her examintions entry form }) and a pouch of herbs: Cinnamon, deep red rose peas, and passion flowers are contained within it. She throws it on the fire, and watches it burn*
Goddess, in the form of Brighid, my patron,
Lady of the Heart, Hearth, Smith, and inspiration,
Help me relaease the past,
Realise that what's done is done,
And find what I am looking for...
I ask that I realise my true potential,
And make the most of my strengths...
By breath...
*Kiama breathes on the burning pouch, letter, and form*
By the body of the Mother...
*Kiama reaches down and picks up a small handful of soil, throwing it on top of the burnt offering...*
By tears...
*Kiama wipes a tear from her eye and watches it drip to the fire*
And by the Fire in my blood...
*Kiama takes out a small pin, and pricks her finger, letting a small drop of blood fall to the fire...*
I consecrate myself, and my efforts, to you... Whilst the magic works to bring me my desire, let me try my best on the mudane plane to make it reality aswell.
My words *Touches lips*, my inner sight, *Touches third eye* my creations, *Touches womb* my actions *Touches each hand*, my ways, *Touches feet* , and my heart *Touches heart* are yours.
Slainte!
*Kiama walks from the fire, singing, letting the next person do their ritual*
