Names and past lives

The other day I realised that I keep meeting people with the same name and I always have the same experience with them: it always turns out they cannot be trusted. By now, I've come to distrust anyone with that particular name... :(

Just a coincidence or maybe some link to a past life??
And does anyone else have this experience?

Emily  17 Jun 2002
I thought this just happened to me - There is a particular girls name, quite a popular one here in the UK, can be spelled two different ways and for some reason I can't trust girls with this name. When I was younger I though I was just paranoid(sp) but, no, this name does have some kind of history with me lol :)

DollChica  17 Jun 2002
A friend of mine has only been in serious relationships with guys named Steve or John. She's been married 4x and 2 were Steve and 2 were John. Hmmmm....wonder about a past life connection.

lunalafey  18 Jun 2002
There was a small stretch in my life where if her name was Michelle and she was 19...stay away from me!!!!!!!!and then there was 3 capricorn relationships in a row( Jan 7, 3 and then 5)But there is reference in one of my astrology books that says that the mid-point between the sun and moon can indicate the sign(we're) drawn to. My sun and moon are both in CAP! I have had an ongoing problem with scorp. women with the exception of those born on Halloween.
IMO, there is no such thing as coincidence. Always a reason for it, finding the reason, another story. So there must be some reason, the likely one, past life connection and/or experience. Meaning this person may not be the incarnate of one that troubled you, but carries the name of the one that did.

catlin  18 Jun 2002
Hm, interesting post. I remember having difficulties with CAP men, women with the name Ulla or Ursula are false, Claudia's tend to alcohol addiction, Ilona's are sluts, that were my experiences until now.

I agree with that, and it's good to hear I'm not the only one experiencing this... ;)
In my case it's two men's names, and men with these names always seem to mean trouble for me.

So my next question: what is the purpose? I should think there is apparently some unfinished business between me and two persons with these particular names. How to finish it?

cjtarot  18 Jun 2002
Hi all,

I am drawn to Men named Michael. Could this have had something to do with a past life. Is there an easy way to find out.

PS did not marry a Michael.

cj

catlin  18 Jun 2002
Hey cj,

Maybe you had in your past life an encounter with the Arkangel Michael (I'm just kidding ;)

tigerlily  18 Jun 2002
Well, people with the same name have the same numerological value, so there have to be some similarities in their personality. Which doesn't mean that they are all bad persons, only that the combination you-them doesn't work (proof: my mother's name is Ursula and she's the finest character I've ever met.)

wavebreaker  18 Jun 2002
Actually, I thought about that too. I don't really know anything about numerology, except that you're name stands for some characteristics, the same way your star sign does. Is that right?
How can I find this out? I would be interested to know the characteristics of these two names and to see whether that could explain my difficulties with them...

tigerlily  18 Jun 2002
This one's quite extensive:

wavebreaker  18 Jun 2002
Wow, yes, very extensive! But very interesting, thanks!

Ravenswing  18 Jun 2002
a good deal of girls/women in my life have been named linda-- too many for 'coincendence'. i can't think of any repeating male name though.

LVX
steve

Faerie Lin  18 Jun 2002
Hey Steve!
MY name is Linda! But I guess you already knew that. hehe. I think we were meant to collaborate on that tarot idea.

Red raven  19 Jun 2002
Jamie. I just can't trust girls named Jamie. That was the name of my primary school tormentor. (Girls ARE worse than boys. ) can't think of any male names though. Matthew shows up a lot, but that's for everyone. (There are over 20 Matthews at my school. )

tempestfire  21 Jun 2002
Ive had the same experience - there are several girls names that I have had bad experiences with- and seem to be completely untrustworthy.
But I think the whole soul mate or past lives connection would be different. JMO. I think we are all karmically linked to those we were around in our past lives- and spend our time wandering trying to reconnect (even if we don't know why).
I definately believe that my soul mate and I were together in a previous life- just because of the connection we had the first time we met- in this life.
but that is for another time.

truthsayer  01 Jul 2002
i know a lot of jennifers, katherines, roberts, michaels(married one), brendas, barbaras, etc. all of them have never caused me any problems and seem to live different life styles. but brendas!!!...the brendas i have known tend to be adult bullies. i'd give a brenda a chance but i'd tend to giver her a wide berth until proven innocent.

most of the men i've dated were capricorns or some other earth sign. oh, yeah! 2 katherine's i have known are scorpios. both had the potential of that sign to fly like an eagle but both turned scorpion on me. henceforth, i check the birthdates of all katherines.

y'know i never gave this thread any serious thought until now. it's really kinda scarey!

You wouldn't happen to be a capricorn, of one of the other earth signs. I have had 3 caps in a row and now I'm having to figure out 2 taurus'. I have not had any luck with those scorp women, unless, like me, they are born on the 31st of the month.

Musicman  01 Jul 2002
I've had worst and hurtful experiences with anybody who's a capricorn. I've had 2 ex-wives who were capricorn and everybody I've ever been in contact with or had an association with who were capricorns have brought nothing but heartache and pain into my life..So capricorns stay away from me!!! I'm an Aries by the way with Pisces ascendent..

i am a pisces. my first husband was a cap, too. what's even weirder is that a man w/ the same name as my ex introduced my present husband to me. (twilight zone music playing in background)

my husband's life appears to be influenced by pisces w/ the name of susan. his ex was a pisces susan. susan is my middle name. he told me later that when i told him my middle name was susan and i'm a pisces, he had to do some soul searching before he could keep seeing me! fortunately after 13 years he knows i'm not like her.

Starfish  01 Jul 2002
Not actual names per se, but I am drawn to Irish men (married one, too). Doesn't matter if they are "black" Irish or "red", I just love 'em Irish!

this is very very true, although i use a different alphabet/numeric system than outlined in the link provided by tigerlily (love that name btw, for many years my nick was tygerlilly [my real name is lilly])...
i've noticed trends w/Melissa's, Kimberly's, Amber's & David's...though i'm not saying whether these trends were bad or good! ;) heh...
many blessings...

Tony's and Paul's ..... complete NIGHTMARES, as far as I'm concerned. Sorry, can't say a good word about any one of them I've known, and there's been more than two of each!

Athara  27 Apr 2003
A little bit off-topic, but I've once been in the same room with 5 Richards (out of ten people present). Just call their name out loud and there's five heads turning towards you... :D

I don't really seem to have connections with names, but I do with certain kinds of men... I've loved 2 men badly, and I'm dating one now, all three type 'cuddly bear'; not fat, but big, all three long-haired...

Celtic_Dragon  29 Apr 2003
I believe that the way a name sounds as it's pronounced and how people react to it determine some of their experiences with people. For example: (well several actually)

*Although these rants are to be used as examples and not taken seriously if your name is mentioned, because I absoutly believe that no one should be pre-judged by their name alone, some "similarities" are hard to ignore.*

My name is Tina, and no it's not short for christina. I seem to have a problem with christina's though. My sister's former friend was a christina and was stingy as H@!!, never lent my sis any money and if she did she'd have to pay her back, while my sis never saw a penny of her borrowed money. Also, for some reason, any christina (there's always one) like's the nick name tina, so instead of there being one christina and one tina there's now two tina's. (verry big petpeve)

Oh yea, Emily's I had several bad experiences with only one emily, I'm a little......cautious about them. (took a nose dive into the devil card....with a rocket attached!)

Melissa's,... knew 3, ...all sluts or teases, ...none wore bras, would never trust my fiance' with one. same with aprils......

Good experiences:

My dad chose my name from a very good friend he had in highschool and even dated, said he always liked her personality (and what about her looks?? ;)) I still wonder sometimes, why he didn't marry her......history might be repeating itself in my relationship, hmmmm.....should do a reading on that! might need some help though, too hard not to be biased)

Mike, know 3, all really good guys, all seem to be interested in computers. ie. they're technical guys but honest and to the point. (unless they're explaining something to you, then the tech comes in :P)

It seems that even though, someone's name might be spelled differently than other's just like it, mikel, micheal, michael as long as the prounciation is the same the personality seems to follow suit. And then the variances are due to the different upbringings.

Again none of the references are ment to be global, they're just my experiences. (and mine alone! you can't have them!)

Oddly enough though I've never come accrossed another *Tina (only, I've met plenty of chris*) And the only one that was in my class in one grade either moved or transfered to another school before I could meet her. So all I have to go off of is my own experience and I know that if I ever do I'm going to have to rely on my patience before she'll warm up to me. Corse I know that once she's my friend she'll be loyal, if nothing else. :D ;)

speaking of richards, I knew only one but he seemed a bit, clingy and depressing. Again, a little cautious with that one.

jakyle  29 Apr 2003
Some relatives names that are found on both sides of our families..........I did happen to find lots of Mikes in the old dating game.......
I notice lots of the same names can be found in the workplace, though.....It's even worse when they are the opposite sex.....When trying to explain,"Chris and Chris,I mean female Chris"-ya know......."Never mind"......God forbid I get a sexual harassment charge for having to describe what person I'm referring to........I hate last names that I cannot pronounce......I tend to meet them all.....

How do I find out about my past lives? Is there anyone that you know of who I can ask?

Silverlotus  06 May 2003
Of all the guys I've dated, or had relationships with, from my first silly little boyfriend ages ago in middle school up until the present day, only one has had more then one syllable in his name. I don't think it's significant, just interesting. :)

Something that is odd though is when people forget my real name, I am, without a single exception, called Michelle. This has always happened, and the people that have called me this name do not know each other or that I have been called this in the past. It kind of makes me wonder.

sagitarian  16 May 2003
I've had problems with John's. I fall in love with them, and they've always broken my heart, but I smile in the end remembering back.

I also dated a few Rob's. Married one too (still happily married).

Other good names for me has been Michale, I've always really enjoyed close friendships (nothing more) with Michale's, they're usually so sweet and sincere, very honest in my experiences.

Being a sagittarian, well, I also used to have a thing with Taurus's, was HEAVILY attracted to them badly, and every single one BROKE my heart to smithereens. So I keep my distance from Tarus's, I like em, but man, nothin but trouble, i'm tellin ya!

I get along pretty good with most Gemini's, don't know why, but most people have a lot of problems with Gemini's. I like them. My middle child is a Gemini.

Any other Sagittarian I meet, it's pretty much written in stone somewhere, that I will be friends for life with another Sagittarian. My husband though is Virgo, not sure how we work out, we just do. LOL.

In our family all together, for those astrology buffs out there, I'm sagittarian, my husband a virgo, my first child a capricorn, second child a gemini, and our third child a sagittarian as well. How's THAT for a family? LOL.

Belladonna  17 May 2003
My brother, my husband and my son are all sagitarians. I'm a scorpio but I have a gemini rising.
I married a Bob and since marrying him have been introduced to at least 3 or 4 other Bobs, who we still know.
Two Lukes, an uncle and a boyfriend have committed suicide.
I always fall in love with Michaels. (the name makes me weak in the knees)
Really weird coincidence? My name is Nerissa. I've heard of other people named Nerissa, but never actually met one, but we have friends who are friends with another couple named Bob and Nerissa. That's weird!

LOL... oh man.. u gotta stay far away from me then. i am a capri... and hey believe me, i cant stand ARIES too!!

its weird how i tend to be attracted to aries men and women.. but everytime, aries, esp the men bring me tears.
the last aries in my life burnt me spiritually and emotionally though i was with him 11 mths only.

did some astrology chart for his birthday and mine - was a sqaure. guess tat explains why aries and cap cant get along

with the name and the meaning. for example .... Richard meaning powerful etc......

do you think there is truth in a name actually determining personnality traits?

If it were true, how on earth can we deal with all those tens of thousands of Jennifers and Saras. Not to mention the fairly limited range of popular men's names.

sirona86  06 Jun 2003
names determining personality traits? in my opinion it is more the date and time of birth that determine personality traits. in hindu custom, this would hold true as it is often the practice to approach a priest or astrologer from whom one will be able to find out what letter the name of the new born should begin with.( the astrologer my parents went to see said that my name should begin with the tamil letters 'ka' or 'kaa', and so i was given the name 'Kavita') so people born around the same time, should generally have common personality traits, and similar names too.. i think. i'm really not sure about that.

wavebreaker  06 Jun 2003
What about numerology then? Some people use numerology on names to determine the personality.
