"Tarot Spells" by Janina Renee is a great book. But if you can't get ahold of it you could just sort of wing it.
For ex: if you were doing a spell for fertility you could use the Empress and any other card that indicated this to you (maybe Ace of Wands) as a "focus point". For a good marriage, I would use the 4 of Wands, 10 of Cups, 2 of Cups, etc....

if i got this right, it's making sense.
so i could create a reading that parallels what i want to occur and use it as a focal point??
am i close?

Quoting from the book: "Although the Tarot has long been valued as a tool for meditation and divination, the Tarot symbolism can also be used as a focal point for working magic. With this method, the cards are arranged deliberately to state the goal which the user wants to achieve."
So the answer is yes.
In the book, Ms. Renee gives you the spell, the layout of the cards, which cards to choose, a list of things you could use to enhance your spell (candle colors, stones, etc.) and meditation/visualizations to go along with all of this.
Generally in the book there are no more than 4 cards to a spell, but I suppose you could even lay out an entire Celtic Cross deliberatley to help achieve your goal. You could place something specific in the "past" position that you are trying to get over, and something you are trying to bring into your life in a "future" position. You could even choose how you want others to see you in that position in the spread.
Actually this has given me some great new ideas now.... })

May I also suggest that when you are doing a Tarot spell to remember that you may also use any other props (so to speak) with the cards you have selected.
For example when I am doing a spell with the cards I also consider candles, colours, incense, herbs or oils as well as Moon phases etc.
I know it may sound complicated, but it is all a matter of focus and whatever you use to help you to focus on the spell you are casting is ok.

I use a candle for each element and light each as I am summoning that particular element.
Blue-Water
Red-Fire
White-Air
Green-Earth
If I am asking for something for myself, then I take a piece of paper and write down what I am asking for and why I deserve it. I always put that on the table with my spell.
