Hey folks...
How are you???...Hope you're all fine !!!

Well, I've been reading this book, you know, "Thelemic magic of Maat"....lol...you all know how much I love Egypt and everything that comes from there.....hehe..

But, this is a very interesting book...not that I agree with everything written there...it was written by a lady called Nema, who is quite a fan of Aleister Crowley, who wrote about Thelemic magic...

OK...the book is very interesting and describes the Universe, and the human being, as something divided into 10 levels...the levels of iniciation...and when you go from level 4 to level 3, you have to cross the Abyss, which is when you have to figure out you're NOTHING....maybe not everybody understands what some esoterists mean by saying we are nothing, but it's worth some thinking...

Well...Do you think life is an ilusion (maya) ???
Are we nothing???...or, Nothing means the superficial aspects most of people search for???

Do you know Thelema???...

These were my questions...hope they weren't silly ones...

Thanks for the attention...

oh jeeez, what a confusing concept. and i don't think i can give any really coherent answers, but i'm willing to ramble...

the nothing of the abyss, or 'Da'ath', is not the same as the nothing above Kether, or 'Ain'. i see Da'ath as possibly the place between lives. very Saturnian.
Ain is actually the nothing. the primal canvas upon which creation was painted. but even this was born of something else. so we have 'Ain Soph'. what that might be, i can't imagine. that which created the canvas maybe? nothing, but still not 'the void'.
and then there is 'Ain Soph Aur', which is what i see as the actual nothing of non-existence, that from which everything must have come, but nothing could have because there isn't anything there, not even thought. the void.
or not, i don't know.
and now my brain hurts!

what you've described here sounds like climbing up the tree of life (which, if you're dealing with crowley and company, is a likely 'background' )

the tree has 10 'levels' (sephiroth). we start at the bottom of the tree and work up to the fourth level (chesed).

there, we encounter da'ath, the great divide.

then come the supernals, which i would equate with levels 1, 2 and 3

a good comparative read would be dion fortune's the mystical qabalah. it's a great and well written introduction to qabalah-- and includes everything you wanted to know about nothing. although she never met crowley, they both have 'roots' in the golden dawn
