looking for an appropriate spell for the new moon

hey guys. Wednesday is the New Moon. I've heard that working with the moon cycles assists (or so some believe) in spell work. I'd like to work something that night.... but am not sure where to find a working on such a short time frame. (guess it would be tomorrow night, since it's Tuesday now.) I'm wondering if anyone out there has any suggestions. Basically, I would like to do a spell for clarity and direction... and motivation! (don't worry -- not casting any karma spells. heh heh.) ...... Can anybody help me out -- or at least point me in the right direction? thanks! :)

hi, you've got your direction just need the steps to get there. just start writing. there's a tarot spell book that i referenced in another thread that is AWESOME!!! (check out old stuff new use...by january) she has a great way of casting the circle that a loner can do! bringing magick and tarot together. call the 4 winds, the elements and Mother Goddess (or a Goddess that matches your request) to protect you while your casting your request to the universe. candles, insense, gems if you have and a cauldron to burn the request in afterward. i do that just as a letting go thing...i keep a copy for later to put into my book of shadows. i've got some cleansing of past pains that i need to do that a friend just reminded me of and i'll start working on it here at work then start writing at lunch. and collecting things tonight when i get home. while you're writing you need to be very clear of your objectives because the universe will read between the lines of what you've written. it happened to me recently...someone came back into my life or i let him back when i was asking to let him go. so i need to rework the spell and be completely honest w/myself and the universe. good luck and peace! The book "Moon Magick" by DJ Conway is great! It has stuff in it for every moon of the year, as well as cool crafts and other information. The new moon is in cancer? Well if it is do not try to do anything that reqiuires the intellect. I know tomorrow is Wenesday and which rules science and math, all things requiring cognitive(thinking) abilities. Don't do it. Cancerian energy isnt that way. I'll just hold off on this cancerian energy. BUT You can do spells three days Before the actual New moon which wouls have been Sunday, or three days after which is Saturday. So you have until Saturday to perform your spell. So let this twisted cancerian energy past and Hurry to LEO. You wont be able to improve your relationships with anyone especially domestic partners because it isnt on a MONday. But you did not know that you could have started three days ago but know you do. YAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! Leo will be great. What to do, well.......You could Start a romance. Leo will be great to do so, and Please dont use Venus(Friday) Only use Venusian energy if you plan on marrying the guy. But If you want great sex and you want himto be your boyfriend, you know the courtship thing then do it Sunday. You'll have to get your Ass up early. At 5:00 am to six am(Sun hour) The sun brings you what ever you ask, and what better than a boyfriend. You cant ask for material Items because The Moon is not in an Earth sign. LOL, So , in Leo You can Improve your occult knowledge only in Alchemy though. If you were Taking physics class and studying Medicne you could improve there. Man, this can take forever. Joya, Find Out what you want. I tried to give you some options for the kind of energy youll be working with.

The new moon is for the closing of old things and the beginning of new. Perhaps your focus could be on pulling away from paths that have been misguided and moving on to new paths that will be beneficial. That would involve all of the things you mentioned (Clarity, direction, motivation) Concentrating on the actual discernment of what needs to be left behind, and releasing yourself from it. And deciding on what is important to you to move towards and gaining energy and motivation and prosperity to strive for it. I’m trying not to get specific in stylizing of casting spells and how to’s, as everyone has different ways of doing and looking at things. I know I could come up with a few ideas, but the thing is making it special to you, and how your mind and body work.

Okay, I reread your post Joya. I sure don't know if the moon will be in cancer for the next three days, but, You cannot get clarity, and direction from that energy: And definetly not motivation, lol. With that cancerian energy, you can end your uncross yourself..and others. That means, you can remove the energy or actual banish entities that are causing your domestic life(life with your mom, pop, sister, or Husband/boyfriend) only your immediate family hell. But gosh, tomorrow is WEN. Bummer. You cant get Motivated in Leo Either. Yeah I know it is a fire sign, yadda yadda, but It is FIXED. It is not going to budge. You'll have to wait until freaking Aries and pray the moon is on the waxing by the time it reaches it for motivation. Why, because it is a cardinal sign. Cardinal signs are active and Aries /fire , what better energy. Clarity, babe, you'll have to wait until Aquarius. When the moon is in Aquarius that is the time you can recieve clarity in what is injurous to you or others. Direction, you'll have to wait until Aries Babe.

I do hear what your saying about the Cancerian energies -- and Leo's as well. But, sheekers, no way am I going to wait that long. hmmm, a challenge -- to enact change despite the ruling energies..... at least I'll have the newness of the moon on my side....

equals some emotions and a hardshell to crack...talking to a cancerian here...i have to admit that meatbox :* you got me a little upset but it sounds like you have something against cancerians so i'm not going to take it personally. plus i'm in my moon/sun signs right now...in astrology thread many planets still in cancer so it's good for change and positive moves. i've had a pretty good month of june/july so far. thanks to aquariangoddess for her knowledge of the stars/planets. i just got a book on the cycle of the moon and when to do things etc. for now, so what about the energies of the moon it's what's inside the seekers heart that matters. maybe any change spell we do needs to be kept simple. life is too complicated anyway. it is a time of change from old to new beginnings, taking baby steps to get the ball rolling so to speak. i haven't read any of the responses to this so if it's redundant ignore me but..........new moon energy is removing energy/taking away energy. so keep that in mind for any spell work you are doing. love jade :D ps it's soooo nice out i gotta get outside :D

Oh no, I havent anything against cancers. I am a scorpio, my best friends are cancers but I don't find doing any spell work in that transit helpful. Cancer is about domestic affairs, that is, close family and husband or boyfriend, I have a wonderful relationship in those areas. Thats all. I have nothing against cancers at all. Goodness, it seems like I am always misunderstood when people read my post. I dont know, somebody tell me what the hell is going on?

meatbox-just sounded like you didn't like cancerians. and the spell i was thinking about for tomorrow is going to be moved for another time. i am going to do something simple to remove energy from past pain and to let that all go. hopefully that will help clear my emotional and spiritual block...rec'd a book about witchcraft and spells...for spells it takes 21 days from the time of the ritual, would anyone (i'm sure there are) know why? something to do w/3-fold? good luck everyone w/the new moon tomorrow! blessed be! :TQC

Joya... Do you mean 'dark moon' or 'first crescent' when you say 'new moon'? Anyway, in case you're still after info, here's what I'd use each phase for (sorry if it's a bit 'Wicca 101', I don't know what kind of info you're after :)): Waxing moon - a good time for spells to assist new projects, or to cast a spell for growth. For example, spells for prosperity. Full moon - a good time for spells to bring something to fruition. Waning moon - a good time for spells to banish things. For example, spells to help yourself release a bad habit. Dark moon - I've heard some folks say that they never cast spells on Dark moon as they feel the energy is too chaotic. But I use the energy of the dark moon to assist in spells for spiritual work. hope that helps some!

It can be both. The crescent monn happens three days after the new moon. I hear that one can cast new moon spells three days before the new moon and three days after. It has been my experience to use the new moon energy to do uncrossings/banishing. Also good time to light Seven day variety candles or novena.

to understanding Wicca so having some 101 lessons along the way is great. i found the 21 day for spells in a book The Craft by Dorothy Morrison (?) i'm a work so i think that's her last name. it came w/a workbook too to use as a book of shadows or a journal of personal journey learning about Wicca. i don't know much about charkra's or anything like that...not yet anyway. much to learn and i'm getting more confused along the way. sticking w/new tarot deck and trying some readings and just trying to keep to the simple practice of mindful living. peace and be well! :tqc

Meatbox is right, IMO. There is a period of 7 days available in a month to cast 'Dark moon' spells: during the 3 days before dark moon, on the day itself, and for the 3 days after. Likewise, if you want to cast on a'Waxing moon' you could do it for 3 days before waxing half moon, on waxing half moon itself, and three days after. Taken like this, a 21 day cycle (a lunar month) is divided into four phases of seven days each : Dark, Waxing, Full and Waning. Having said that, moon magick is awesome but dont feel like you always have to cast by the moon. I think it's sometimes better to cast a spell when you really need one, or when it just feels 'right', instead of waiting for the 'appropriate' moon phase. Hope that helps!

My calendar says; last quarter new moon first quarter full moon now i know that the new/dark moon is the same moon and the full moon is the full moon is waxing the last quarter? is waning the first quarter? Wednesday and Thursday the moon is in Cancer Friday and Saturday the moon is in Leo and so on... And all wicca 101 is welcome by me...

floracove maybe this will help, the first quarter starts with the new moon. halfway between the moon and full begins the second quarter. think of the moon as getting bigger as wax drips on it. waxing moon. so the moon waxes in the first and second quarter. then the full moon begins the third quarter. halfway between the full and new begins the fourth quarter. think of the waning moon as waning away, getting smaller. the waning moon occurs during the third and fourth quarter.

One week after the new moon, 3 to five days is the waxing crescent. That thin slice portion of the moon, hardly half of the moon is exposed. When half of the moon is exposed(I have found this portion of the moon in Libra and scorpio) it is waxing gibbuos or first quarter. Usually the moon is seven days old . Spells from the new moon (three days before/threedays after) should have come to the witch. She/he should have her requests fullfilled. After half of the moon is exposed it goes to Full. Spells from the Waxing gibbous or first quarter (7 days after the new moon) should come into fruiton by the Full Moon. After the full moon has passed, when you can see only half of the moon again is wanning gibbous or third quater. I hope that helped. I agree with mermaid also, do the spell when you need to. But if you can wait, try. Can anyone see the face of a lady(Isee a lady) in the full moon? Two eyes and a mouth slightly opened. I tried telling my friends nut they say they cannot see a thing. I SWEAR it is there and can anyone see it?

I got told when I was a little girl that there was the face of an old man in the moon but I couldn't see it. The Maori legend is that there is the picture of a woman called Rona holding on to a tree in the moon - but I can't see that either. So next full moon I'll go out and have a look - maybe it is really a woman's face instead! ;) And Joya - if you're confused - just remember waxing is getting bigger, and waning is getting smaller. So tecnhically anytime between full and dark moon the moon is waning. Anytime between dark and full moon, the moon is waxing.

Maori are the native people of New Zealand, Meatbox - they came to NZ from Polynesia about 600 or 700 years before Europeans arrived. I don't remember Rona's story very well. As I remember it, she was going out at night to fill her calabashes with water (calabashes are kind of like gourds) and she couldn't see very well, so she got angry with the moon and cursed it for its lack of light. The moon became angry at being cursed and started pulling Rona up into the sky. Rona held onto a tree, but he pulled both her and the tree up, roots and all. So now when you look at the moon, you are supposed to be able to see Rona and her tree there!
