Reiki question for any of our aeclectic experts

Since you all started the reiki study group thread, I got inspired to practice reiki on myself more regularly. (I was attuned Reiki I in February, but haven't done a lot of it since then). Plus, since I'm pregnant and not feeling that well, I thought it would help. So, as I lay in bed at night, I put my hands in the yoga "Namaste" position and silently ask for reiki. I'm not sure if this is the right way to start, because I don't feel anything when I "turn it on" .... But anyhow, I proceed with the hand positions. But for 3 nights in a row, I just flat out fell asleep! And slept very well, mind you! LOL. I wonder if the reiki still works as I sleep. Both times I fell asleep with my hands in the solar plexus area, so I got thru the first few positions. Does it affect the success of the healing session if I konk out in the middle? Is it either good or bad that this happens? The other thing is, now I have a cold. Blech. Do you think there is any connection? I also got sick after my attunement... my m/t explained that might happen because my body is purifying. But after 4 self healing sessions (well maybe four half-sessions....lol)? Or is it just a coincidence? Thanks for letting me blather on... And for any input you may have. And thank you for the inspiration to start working with the reiki again!

It could be a coincidence, but then it could also be a way of your body telling you to slow down and take some rest; in other words: the reiki is making you aware of something. Glad to hear you're enjoying your reiki again! ;)

you are feeling cold like symptoms because your body is doing a cleansing. when you use reiki daily, you are constantly cleansing so most people don't even notice the symptoms :D you don't need to do reiki positions on yourself......just hold your hands anywhere and let it flow.........but you can, of course, move your hands around if you prefer. :D i use reiki to sleep everynight :D love jade ps sorry to be short but supper is waiting...........

I know what you mean...i always fall asleep when i start giving myself Reiki! I feel bad (not physically) in the morning b/c i think i should have done it longer! ~MsPisces

when you begin reikiing yourself and you fall asleep why do you assume that your reiki just stops? because your intention was to reiki, the energy continues until you are filled, or you willfully stop it. so....if you fall asleep, you are still channeling the reiki energy and getting a full session, regardless :D love jade

Thank you all! Now I'm using my reiki as much as a sleep-aid as a healing aid. And I feel darn good about it, and not guilty at all. Since I'm pregnant, I have to get up at least once a night to pee, and have been having trouble going back to sleep. So the reiki is very helpful in that regard. And Jade, I had sort of hoped the reiki went on without me. Glad to hear it wasn't just wishful thinking. Also, I'm thinking about creating a "reiki box" like was suggested on one of the other reiki posts. I'd like to practice sending reiki to people. I also think it will work very well for sending simple "good thoughts and vibes" as is requested on chat boards alot. I could simply write down the name of the poster and what they need, send everyone in the books good energy and leave it at that.

aaah, and you know how much little lunar bunny loves his/her reiki too! my kids loved their sessions when i was creating them ;) love jade

Actually, my little bunny has so far been called "Little Bear" because when I had an ultrasound at 10 weeks it looked like a little teddy bear. :-)
