I'm looking at avatars and channel names, and I see lots references to anmals. Ravens, sharks, starfish, etc.

Why do you do that? Is there some spiritual connection?

I definately think it is spiritual..Like your avatar Divinerguy..It suits you here..your funny...depends on who you are pertaining to where you are...Like if you were in a catholic forum..would you have an avatar with a pentacle..most likely not...This is a great forum where we can all express out beliefs and not get shanghied for doing so..

Well, I like black birds. They are wherever I am. So much so that no matter where I go, people comment on the number of crows/ravens/magpies around. The crows in my backyard have gotten so used to me, that they don't even fly away when I come out with bread or to fill the bird bath. I always talk to them and ask how they are....and tell them to share...and I find they do. I like them because they are bold and very family oriented, and just a bit mischievious!

So, when I asked Kayne if he would make me an avatar, he asked what I liked, and I told him: ravens, warm colors, Aborginal artwork...and he came up with mine. He could have come up with something without black birds, but he came up with this one.

I wouldn't say I had a particular totem animal, as I've never requested one or been on a vision quest...it's just that they are alwasy around me, and it's comforting, somehow....

I got my white Persian avatar because kayne also asked me what I like and among the enumeration of Kali, Morrigan, cats, something Wicca inspired, etc, kayne proposed me this avatar and I like it.

I feel much drawn to carnivores such as Grizzly bears, big cats, wolves but funny enough, I had a kind of Vision last year in which my Grizzly bear totem left me and was replaced by an eagle.

If you want to learn more about totems I'd suggest you the book by Ted Andrews (don't know the English title as I only have seen the German edition).

I got interested in sharks after I started scuba diving. When I first went diving in an area where there were sharks, just the thought of encountering one gave me nightmares... ;)
Then I started reading about them and my fear was replaced by fascination. Now I go looking for them. There's nothing more exciting than to see these beautiful and impressive creatures up close. I'm hoping to see great whites at the end of the year! :D

Is there a spiritual connection? I don't know, maybe... It's definitely the only animal that fascinates me this much.

Like amyel, crows are wherever I am. Other blackbirds as well. I consider it one of my totem animals, so yes, in a way, it is spiritual. It also happens to be how my last name is pronounced, but not spelled!

For me, it is spiritual. I see the phoenix as perfection, but apart from the divine. I actually believe that the phoenix is my personal spirit guide.

Mystick Dragon  10 Sep 2002
When I am able to have my own custom avatar, I have this REALLY neat dragon icon I will use. As you may have guessed, dragons are my thing. I work with them almost on a daily basis. My room is COVERED in dragon pics on one wall, though I will be taking it down to put the pics in a binder to keep them safe. I also have the dog, wolf, ladybug, and bluejay. Yet, dragons are the number one.

I have a thing going on with dragons too!
I only recently have been adopted by mine, however. (It's been in the last two years. ) I have been meditating on them, communicating with my dragon spirit guide, and developing a relationship with Dragonkind. Recently, a little sparkly green one has made his presence known to me. I'm really excited by this, I can't wait to get to know this little guy better.

I also have a totemic relationship with crows/ravens, whales. and wolves. Elephants too. This may have something to do with Ganesh, the Hindu Elephant God of overcoming obstacles.( Who seems to pop up in my life rather regularly.) I sure do have enough of those.

Red raven  11 Sep 2002
I picked the butterfly icon because it was pretty. :)

I used to have a Raven guide. I suppose he's finished his teaching and has since moved on. Recently, he was replaced by a Hyena.
