I've heard of several Wiccans who have chosen Anubis as one of their patron deities. And, while I prefer to remain uncommited to any religion, am, quite frankly, very curious.
Does anybody here have Anubis (Or any other egyptian god(ess)) as a patron deity? I'm dying to know more about this.
Any replies, as always, are greatly appreciated. :)

I'm much the same as Rhiannon, being attracted to the Celtic pantheon. I too have yet to link my path to a single representative God/Goddess.

I have been attrackted to the egyptian pantheon since i have read the books by Joan Grant!
I haven't worked with them yet but i'm thinking about it...its just that the greek pantheon works so well for me:)

Although I am Celtic Wicca I sometimes summon Maat, Sachmet or Selket (all three are present on my altar).

Anubis is the patron deity of my a former girlfriend of mine. She isn't Wiccan, however. Another one of those dang ceremonial magicians :)

Thank you all for the info. :) I'll have to do some research. I'm a bit obsessed with Egyptology.

I don't really have patron dieties, but I do like the Egyptian Pantheon, although, where possible I try to use their original kemetic names, not the greek ones.

Phoenix- I have to admit that I myself am a little behind on Egyptian Mythology and Deities.
Do you know a rough translation between Kemetic and Greek gods (Like the Zeus and Jupiter Correlation for Roman and Greek?)

As far as I know, there is none like that, but the greeks gave new names to the deities. Example. we all know Isis. But her original Kemetic name was Aset.
A friend of mine has some websites on it. I will contact her to get those websites.

yes phoenix, you are great!
i have always been attracted to Egyptian deities, art, writing, since i was young.
my goddesses that i think have "called" me are Artemis, Hecate, and Isis. but i have always been drawn to Anubis as well.
i can't say exactly why, but i have. and my cat even looks like him, even though Anubis is a Jackal. i wouldn't say i consider Anubis a patron, but i'm probably more connected to Anubis than any other male deity i can think of, unless Raven or Crow are considered male, which i doubt.

Hi napea,
When you connect ravens with Germanic Wotan, then you can see them as male (he was always accompagnied by 2 ravens, called Hugin and Munin), but connected with the Morrigan, they are more female orientated.

I use Isis and sometimes Horus, sometimes Osris. Then there's always Sairys (Dragon god of the east), Fafnir (dragon god of the south), Naelyan (dragon goddess of the west), and Grael (dragon goddess of the north). That's an overview of my realm.

I am still learning about Egyptian mythology, and I still feel that there is a lot to learn for me.
While were on the subject, can anyone recommend any Egyptian Mythology book?

hi all. :)
I am a Dedicant to a magical lodge --- and our patron is the Walker. The Walker is the entity, the spirit, the energy, etc. -- that moves between the worlds -- more specifically, the physical and the astral -- to be everywhere and nowhere at the same time. One that stands by the "doorway" -- opening it to allow the blessings and positive energy into our lives -- and closing it against that which we don't need.
There are many faces that this entity, the Walker, can take on. It all depends on how you personally choose to get in touch with this energy. Think of it as like a mask that an aspect of the divine puts on, in order to become more accessible to us. .... The Walker can assume the "persona" of any deity, from any pantheon, that walks between the worlds. It could be Anubis. If you prefer the Greek gods, it could be Hermes or Hecate. Roman gods -- it could be Mercury or Janus. Celtic -- Gwyn Ap Nudd or Cerridwen. American -- it could be Coyote or Raven. Hawaiian? Pele. New Orleans Vodou? Legba. Egyptian is Anubis, or Upawet. Hindu is Kali Ma. And so on and so on...
