Jin Shin Jyutsu - The basics

Thread originally posted on the Aeclectic Tarot Forum on 26 Sep 2002, and now archived in the Forum Library.

I had the first lesson of my course today (there are 5 lessons) and in this thread I'd like to share what I've learned with those of you who are interested.

Jin Shin Jyutsu stands for:
Jin - A person of knowing and compassion
Shin - The creator
Jyutsu - The art

Jin Shin Jyutsu = The art of the creator through a person of knowing and compassion

Jin Shin Jyutsu is based on the principle of universal energy (just as reiki) and is aimed at balancing the energy pathways within the body. This is done by using 26 different "safety energy locks": by touching the appropriate safety energy locks for a specific ailment, it can be cured.
Jin Shin Jyutsu can be applied by anyone who knows which safety energy locks to use; no attunement (as in reiki) is needed.

Apart from the 26 safety energy locks, there are five basic hand positions that really cover everything. The 26 safety energy locks are more like an enhancement to treat specific ailments.

The five basic hand positions are very simple: each finger represents an emotion and the position consists of simply holding that finger with the other hand. It doesn't matter whether you hold your right finger with your left hand or the other way around; whatever you prefer.

The hand positions are:
Thumb = Worry
Index finger = Fear
Middle finger = Anger
Ring finger = Sorrow
Little finger = Appearances

There are three ways to use the basic hand positions:
  1. Treating an emotion when it occurs
When you feel anger, simply hold your middle finger for at least 3 minutes. This will help take the anger away.
  2. Treating deeper emotions
When you have been worrying over a longer period of time, it will take a bit longer to take that emotion away. Hold your ring finger every morning for 3 minutes, and every evening for 3 minutes. Repeat this for about 2 weeks.
  3. General treatment
Treat all fingers every morning for 3 minutes each and every evening for 3 minutes each. Always start with the thumb and finish with the little finger.
Well, that's it, basically... Enjoy! ;)

Wow thanks for sharing! :)
I'm gonna try some of this...

Maybe Jin Shin Jyutsu was also part of the basic techniques of the Hokuto School... Hokuto No Ken, you got no more secrets for me! })

I wish you great learning, and greater sharing! ;)

I forgot to mention the book we're using: The Touch of Healing - Energizing Body, Mind and Spirit with the Art of Jin Shin Jyutsu by Alice Burmeister and Tom Monte. This describes everything in detail, so if you're interested in exploring this art further, you might want to get this book.
