Hi there,
I'm looking for good books on Norse/Celtic/Europaean Shamanism. I've been reading "By Oak, Ash and Thorn" by DJ Conway and while I like a lot of the concepts, I really don't like the writer's style, it's hard for me to comprehend. Any thoughts?

I know what you mean about DJ Conway, don`t like her either. Can`t help you with the books but thought I`d reply to say congratulations on becoming a citizen.

This is actually the only subject where it would benefit you if you could read dutch. There are some really good books about sjamanism in dutch and as far as i know never tranclated:(
Without the dutch books my shelf of books about sjamanism is alomost empty :(
But i could recommend you the books by Lynn v Andrews there novels but while reading you can learn very much!! Also dennise Linn..she is not a tipical shaman but here books are great too especially here book about vision quest.
And i must not forget Roy Wilson...
There are lots more but these are the ones i have at my shelf at the moment the others i don't know by heart ;)

It just happens that I, too, am studying Shamanism. The book recommended to me by my teacher is "The Way of the Shaman," by Michael Harner. Harner seems to be the guru of the gurus in the American world of Shamanism. I gather it's particularly good for people just starting that journey.
A second book which I found helpful is "Soul Retreival," by Ingerman. Can't think of her first name. It was recommended to me by Raman, a spirit which a friend channeled for me. Raman wants me to learn Shamanism because I'd find it helpful to meet my spirit guides from that world.
Well, what Raman wants, in this case, Raman will get.
Bon Voyage,
Red Emma

How about 'the Celtic Shaman' by John Mathews (who was co-creator of the Hallowquest deck)? I liked that one.

In the Shadow of the Shaman, by Amber Wolfe is an excellent book.

caitlin and john matthews are considered "experts" on celtic shamanism. they have done quite a few tarot and oracle decks on it. for example celtic wisdom tarot, arthurian/hallowquest tarot and the the celtic death oracle. i have 2 other shamanism books at home i'll try to post later.
