Many years ago a friend and I were having a Halloween party at her house. I had driven over at just about dusk to deliver some wine glasses. I got out of my car carrying the the box of glasses, and mounted a set of about 6 or 8 stairs to get to the top level of their yard.
As I reached the top I was startled to see ribbons of blue light dancing along the right side of the lawn. They swirled and twirled in arcs about 20 or more feet high which stretched the length of the yard -- about 100 feet. I'd never seen such a graceful, beautiful, stunning sight.
At the time I assumed they were Northern Lights (this was in NW Washington State), having heard that the lights are sometimes seen that far South. Since I'd never seen the Lights, I was grateful for the chance. Later I found out that the Aurora Borealis works its magic in the sky and never dances across anyone's yard.
To this day (about 30 years later) I don't know what the ribbons of light were. Does anyone among the Aeclectic crew have any idea what the whole thing was about?
Still puzzled,
Red Emma

This is only slightly related but....
During my college years, I found myself at a really big park at night, with some friends. We had all been ... chemically altering our perception :smoker: and while we were walking around the big old oak trees, I could see long and skinny hazy light shapes playing in the trees ahead of us.
I kept saying to my friends "Do you see them? Do you see them?" but, they thought I was being ... intoxicated.
To me, they look like fae spirits dancing and playing tag in the moonlight around the trees. It's always been an experience that's made me smile when I remember it, so long ago.
