Hya,
Question. How do you explain (and explore for that matter) that strange connection that you feel with a person? Particularly if this connection is with a person you'll most likely never meet over coffee.
I believe in soul families, and past lives so perhaps that has something to do with it.
I'm interested in your ideas.

FoolHardy,
Whilst there is certainly a branch of Astrology that looks at Karma and tries to identify past lives it seems to me that your question is quite wide and might be better placed in the Spirituality forum, where you might get a much wider and possibly richer response

How to describe this... *hrm* ... I have a strong connection to my lover at the moment.. it's strange really.. we dont live together, actually he's in england and i'm in switz. But when he wakes up disturbed at night, i seem to wake up too at the same time... one time i was about to call him, only to lift the phone up and hear his voice.. the phone didn't even ring once! I thought my phone was dead coz there was no dialtone.. at the end he had already called up, and i picked it up the minute he did.
I cannot really explain it. I guess we are drawn to certain people so strongly that a unique bond is formed.
Now if you're talking about total strangers... i believe in kindered spirits. Spirits you can relate to.. and also the possibility that not all people are real. Only a certain few. And these few are real in your eyes, you know they are really living and not background people in this film you call life. They are there.
Hope it helps somehow.

Thanks for the feedback!
Interestingly, I keep having distinct connections with people (ie strangers or friends) where there is a "romantic" feel. As if we were lovers in a past life or meant to be lovers in the present. Unfortunatly, situations never seen to allow it to work out. "Star Crossed Lovers" if you will. I have a few connections of a distinctly "friend" or "uknown" nature, but these "lover" connections are the most intriquing and strong. And of course, the questions begs why it never seems to grow to fruition. I'm starting to think I'm meant to be celibate in this life b/c I was such a tramp in past lives! haha

These "clicks" you feel with certain people are indeed past life bonds you had with them. Depending on how you knew each other, and how close you were affects how strong the current bond is between you.

I'm not sure if its past lives as much as just being on the same "wave length" in this one. I've had that experience before, meeting someone and everything clicking and emotional bonds growing up immediately. Sometimes its been romantic, sometimes platonic, either way its intense.

sometimes we can recognize ourselves in others, we may have walked the same paths or experienced the same 'sufferings'. it feels as if we 'know' this person.
i believe it is possible to strongly 'connect' with someone, because you are supposed to connect. a friend and i have a strong psychic connection. i am sure we met because we were meant to, as part of our evolution. the longer we know each other (although we have never met face to face) the more sure i am that our meeting was no accident. we keep finding that we each have experience in the areas that the other needs to heal, or learn about, more so than just coincidence would account for.
..and maybe, as others have suggested, we are meeting those we have met before or will meet again in another lifetime.

Thats what I usually call them.
To me its kind of what was said about sharing the same wavelengths, the things you can't explain, like when you are humming a song and you turn on the radio and that song happens to be on, sometimes right at the spot you left off.
The same thing about finishing some people's sentences, or you think of something obscure and someone brings the same thing up in conversation right after. These kind of things happen to me all the time.

I know what you mean foolhardy, especially when you connect so fast with someone...I wish I could fnd out more about my past lives...I answered some questions with the tarot, but it left me even more curious...

maybe neptune is in your first house along with his or perhaps pluto is in the eleventh house along with his. Lol. maybe the moon is in the first house along with his or maybe pluto is in the first house along with his. LOL, maybe mercury is in the 12 house along with his or maybe it is in the first house along with his.

From what I understand, we meet people in this life with whom we had unfinished business in past lives. For instance, my sister and I cannot seem to resolve problems stemming from our growing up years. I'd almost bet money on it that we'll have another go round in our next life -- or lives.
If so, I hope we do better than we're doing now.

I have an online friend I've known close to 7 years, we've never met and never will.
I don't pretend to know the whys of us "meeting", but believe we keep in touch due to a true friendship that is more than just tapping at the keys.
Some things I simply accept. Others cause me to delve deeper.
In the scheem of things, if I can just brighten someone's day, or make a difference in being a friend, it is enough for me.
Love and Light,
Kismet

I believe very strongly that the people who figure greatly in our lives are people who figured greatly in our past lives as well.
I also believe that some lessons we learn in life are lessons we failed to learn in past lives.
There are ways to look deeper into one's past lives, but I would encourage you to use them sparingly. You have already lived those lives. You are living this one. Like Professor Dumbledore said, "It does not do do dwell on dreams, Harry, and forget how to live."
On the other hand, it can come in handy for knowing why we are who we are and why we interact with people as we do.
