Hi folks
Going off on a tangent from TheEnchanter's story thread, I was reminded of something that helped me enormously when I was trying to put all my spiritual experiences into perspective, and to find a way to express them.
At Art College we had to do contextual studies along with or chosen specialisms - mine being Illustration - anyroadup, one particular piece we all had to do was a 1000 word essay on a journey that changed you profoundly, either physical or spiritual. I chose the latter.
We also had to provide the illustrations and make and bind the book form we provided the work in....THAT was the easy bit, lol.
When I sat down and really thought about it, and I mean REALLY thought about it, so much had happened to me since early childhood that I'd never really quantified before. Even after I'd finished noting them down as bullet points and started writing them up, I kept uncovering more - seemingly little things - that I'd tucked away in my subconcious for so many years, which all added to the depth of my spiritual awakening. Like, how could I have missed that, sort of thing.
Suffice to say my work came to over 4000 words, and there was nearly as much again that I had to chop out for the sake of time. But when I'd finished it, it was like breathing fresh air for the first time, like really feeling sure that I was in this world, not of it. Like I'd found and expressed my spiritual identity.
Doing this was a real life changing experience, which I would recommend to all, no matter what your persuasion. Even now, I am still remembering more, and keeping notes for next time - the 2nd Edition, lol, of my spiritual biography.
