Heaven and Back??

Been pondering this, Lets say we are in an accident and our sprit leaves our body and takes the journay home...but in real life we arent dead.....Does this leave a open body for another spirt to enter while we are away? And when we are sent back cause it is not our time to go home, does that other sprit leave when we come back or do they stay and share the same body?? If so is this where mulit personalities comes into play??

I've read some interesting but convoluted theories on this, and do not have a real answer. I don't think that's what happens in case of multiple personalities. I think multiple personalities happen when a psyche is so badly traumatized that it creates its own nuclear family to protect the soul. I don't believe its two souls sharing the same body. Laurel

I have nothing to support your theory, Hideabed, but I do have some information which would disprove it. (Hope you don't mind, I'm not having a go at you, just exploring the theory) Near Death Experiences (Where the soul leaves he body) are quite common, and there are many many reports of them. Out of the thousands of reports known to science, I don't think there are any cases of people becoming 'mult-personalitied' after the experience. Quite the opposite: They become fulfille dand usually more spiritual. Kiama

I hope I'm not sounding too down to earth... But a soul to me is the energy that keeps a body from falling into chaos. It sort of keeps the molecular structure in shape. By eating for instance we can feed that energy and when we die the energy leaves us when we are oxidised, and is freed to nurture something else. So to me, when the body is still alive, the energy (soul) is still connected to it. Also I believe that the soul, being the form of energy I just tried to explain, is not a static thing, energy from outside the body is constantly incorporated. The body constantly gives some energy to the outside world as well, by loving for instance. I do not believe that the soul forms the personallity of a person, his experiences together wth his genes do that. I see genes a lump of clay which is shaped by experiences. And to me, having a multiple personality syndrome has to do with the mind, not the soul. I hope I've made myself clear... This is just the way I see it and I don't want to step on anybodys beliefs...

HIDEABED: It all depends on how spiritual you are and what has meaning for you. Many faiths believe that your soul/higher self is connected to your body by an infinate silver cord. Like when we are asleep, where do we go in our dreams? And upon returning we awake, sometimes we come back, slowly drawn by the cord. Other times it just snaps back and we wake up with a jolt - ever done that? When we die, this silver cord permanently disconnects, however if we are only partially away - sleeping, unconcious, comatose - then we are still attached, hence the NDE's and OBE's that see themselves floating above their bodies, but still feel attached; the ones that go to 'the other side' that are suddenly 'snapped' back into their bodies, and awake.
