this is maybe a silly question or has asked before but how can you open and develop your third eye??? thank you very much in advance, sara.

I'm definatly not an expert on the subject, but if you want to open it up try reading this link: http://www.whywiccanssuck.com/learn0.html Read the first few sections dealing with meditation and astral projection. It's not a tell all source, but it can give you the information you need before you decide if it's something you really want to put the effort into doing and searching for more information on it. Plus it doesn't go into all those "unhealthy" ways, such as putting yourself into a situation where you are near death, etc. (note that there are many ways to open it, but meditation excersizes is definatly one of the more practical ones) I wouldn't really suggest looking at the host of this site though, as it has nothing to do with your third eye. (Please excuse the host for this link, as I know some people may have taken offense from the place where this particular site is hosted, but I promise there is no Wicca bashing on the link above! I wouldn't have posted it here if it did.) Good luck on opening your third eye, by the way. It takes quite a bit of discipline, but if you are willing and ready I'm sure you can do it :).

Hey Rostie! This site Insomnia Turtle talks about chakras which I have FINALLY gotten into and have been having some profound experiences. If you think you might like meditation and/or hypnosis tapes dealing with chakras (which I am currently doing both) that my help as well. Funny thing though, the tapes that I have don't mention on their description that they are into chakras, ya only find out until you listen to them! But yeah, I have totally turned into a chakra person, concentrating most on the 3rd eye chakra. There are some beautiful chakra medititions out there.

what happens when your third eye opens...does it feel different...is it a different feel of being, a different awareness or don't you feel any difference...because i know there are some stones also who can help opening your third eye like labradorite...and stones who are very good for your third eye chakra but how can you feel when it has opened :) thank you very much for the site insomnia turtle!!! and thank you too faerie lin!!! with love, sara.

What happens when your third eye opens? Well, I guess that depends on who you are, but I guess you can say it definatly feels a little different (if it didn't there wouldn't be anyone trying to do it, right :)). Some claim to feel like a whole new person, others seem to feel it's like a hightened awareness. You won't know until you try. As for stones, do you believe stones will help you? If you do, then they'll work, if you don't, then they won't. It's all about belief. Same with your third eye. The reason it takes so much discipline to open it is because of belief. You have to mentally train yourself to believe that it exists before it can be opened. Remember that most of us are usually not mentally trained to believe in these sort of things and, consequently, have put up barriers against such things. So, to make a long story longer, use what you believe in, not what someone tells you to believe in, to aid you in your development of this skill. If rocks don't mean anything to you, then use something that does. If you don't believe anything can help you, then don't use anything but your own mind.

Rostie when your third eye is open and functioning you will feel i tighting on your forhead, between your eyes, and once the site is fully open you may also feel 3 bands that circle the head when it is open fully. as far as perception changes, it is diffrent in everyone. Some "feel" entities around them better, others start to see them. Love and light P.S. My suggestion: Don't open your third eye until you also know how to close it! Having fallen asleep with a sugilite pyramid on my third eye (was only suppose to meditate and fell asleep for hours), the experience was interesting and annoying. I walked around the whole day feeling as though I was floating about 6 inches above the floor. (I was at work and sensation was truely annoying, not enlightening). As soon as I got out of work I drove as fast as possible to the closest crystal shop and bought a large chunk of smokey quartz to hold in my hand for the next couple of hours until I finally grounded. Needless to say, I never tried that experiment again!

Whitedragon: Just wanted to say thank you for explaining one of the sensations that is experienced when your third eye opens or is opening. I have been doing chakra meditations for around a year now. About 6 months ago, I started running energy and focusing it on each chakra in turn. Just lately (past 4 months maybe) I have felt a kind of 'squirmy' tightening feeling just above my eyes in the center of my forehead. It happens off and on (definately when I am meditating) but more on than off. I did not make the connection until I read your post. Talon
