The Fundies and this war

So with all this world on the brink of war and the world needing love and understanding, it seems the funides and religious right are having a field day and are so excited that war is immenient. There's been an increase in religious propaganda recently, the end times are nigh they say. With references to 'the second coming of christ' and the end of all religions bar christianity. makes me think we're going backwards in history. the dark ages maybe or the inquisition? it's people like this who say they have religion and christ but deep down really are full of intolerance, hatred and superioty, that really don't have any spirituality. True spirituality is about tolerance, understanding, love and care for all things and people. after all we are all Gods ourselves. And really didn't Jesus say 'the kingdom of God is within'? the more they seek to establish it or seek it outside themselves, the more they damage and destroy God's creation and actually they themselves become the 'anitchrist' in the process.

may love prevail and blessed be

It looks to me as if they are creating their own "Do It Yourself" armaggedon.
They are so convinced that THEY are the ones who will prevail, and everone else will suffer.

My Goddess and God don't subscribe to the "Armaggedon Times".

If the extremist christian fundies destroy themselves, I will be terribly sad, because
it's such senseless destruction, but I will NOT be surprised. I think there will be a dreadful damage toll, and a lot of life lost. But, in the end, they might really be trying to get to their "Heaven" and their "Jesus in the sky". It might be what they want more than anything, and will do whatever it takes to not only get there, but prove their point as well. Those of of us who are left, and actually make it through, will get the earth back. It will be an horrendous mess to clean up, but I'd prefer to be alive, to assist in the restoration effort.
Why do I think I'll survive? Precisely because I do not believe in extremist religious propaganda. What I do believe, is they want this so badly they will bring it onto themselves. Anyone who avoids getting sucked into an extremist belief system will have to be careful, oh yes, but will have a much better chance of survival due to a personal reality which gives no credence to such beliefs. If the fact that I survive the so called Armaggedon because I don't believe in this philosophy makes me evil, as described by extremist fanatics, oh well. Evil me will be helping to clean up the mess. Hand me that mop, brother, will ya?

Musicman: Your post made me think back to one of the first posts you ever made when you joined Aeclectic, when you were struggling with your past. How pleased I am for you to see that you have managed to put aside the old stuff and that you are able to view things now so lucidly!

We don't have many fundies in Europe, so I am unable to relate in a very personal way to what you're talking about. But there seem to be fundies all over the world these days - so-called Christian, so-called Muslim, so-called Hindu, etc. etc. I think it is Fear that is leading them. Perfect Love, apparently, casts out Fear.

So how do we, who are not fundies, approach this idea of Divine Love. It is something to ponder.....
