WAR, and its consequences to the spirit ...

Hello everyone...

How are you?...Hope you're all fine !!!

Well, it's national holliday in my country (Brazil), it´s carnival here...most people are either travelling, or at parties...my family travelled, so I´m home alone, with that feeling that I gotta do something, and with plenty of free time to think of things and for posting...hehe....I hope I do not exagerate on the postings (I mean, on the quantity of postings)...any way, sorry if I start bothering...

Now, as usual, here goes another of those head-cracking thoughts I usually post

I was thinking about war...Have you guys ever seen those war movies, like "Saving private Ryan", or "We were soldiers", etc???
So, what must be the consequences of a war in a spiritual level?

I mean...wow, there are loads of questions to ask about the subject...
A man is forced to go to war...there, eventhough he is a very good nice and honest man, he has to kill...if he doesn't kill, he gets killed (sometimes)...What does it bring to his soul, to his karma, to his private "samsara" (the circle of constant re-encarnations), etc???
I mean...he is forced to kill...he wouldn´t like to do that, he doesn´t want to...Does it bring him a really bad karma, or spiritual punishment, later?...And, if he doesn´t kill, that´s almost suicide...Does it bring him a really bad karma for that too?...
So, whatever he does, he gets karma???...(I´m using the word "karma" just to make things more practical, alright?)
Not every soldier can find a way to avoid getting involved...if many want war, how does that single man, trying to be pure, avoid the violence towards another human being???

Of course, the real devils are the brains behind the war...the cowards who starts them, but are safe behind their armys...but, even so, some of them send his nation to war truly believing that if he does not do that, the other nation will destroy his country...Is there anything that soothens his karma???

Well, I just can't understand war, and violence, and all this bad things...

Could anybody help me up figure out this things?....Or, at least try to answer some of the questions involving the subject?

Thanks a lot for the attention !!!

*waits for some responses*

hehe im also curious what others think about this

... cuz although war is necessary.. id like to add, war is necessassry in the world we live in .. i dont believe war is nec. for the spirit

i dont know what i would do faced with that.. its soo easy for me to sit here & say id never killl another human for any reason EVER.. but lets face it im a woman & not involved with the military. there is not a whole hell lot of a chance old Gorgey will be calling me anytime soon BUT if i were being attacked & it wass my life or the life of my child, mother or other person i loved or sh*t just ANYONE for that matter....would i be able to use brutal force to save that life?? i think i would.. would my karma be dirty?? i think it would... cuz im sure as hell id feel horrible guilt for the rest of my days... sorry to go off on that tangent.. but i feel like war is along the same lines

as far as what does it do to his soul while here on earth?.. i watched my uncles that had been in wwII drink themselves to death. i watched my friends that went to vietnam, jump at the slightest sound, lose their families and turn to drugs.....

the closest i ever found to the answers you ask about war and karma, were in the bhagavad gita. ...but then even that did not satisfy me.

first of all...sorry for my grammar mistakes ...lol....I kept saying "this things" when it should have been "these things"...lol...sorry, native speakers...I was pretty sleepy ...

but, well, I´ve read pretty much about budism too, and about spiritism, and ocultism, and karma, and a hell lot more of other things...but, I could never find any answer to those questions...

People say some things are wrong, and that others things are wrong too...but, how can one do the right thing when forced to choose between doing two wrong things....

that´s too much for me to understand...

Another one in agreement with Zoyra and Kaz. Wer`re at the brink of something terrrible I feel and many, many young men and women barely old enough to have left home are going to be asked to do an awful lot, indeed sacrifice themselves for those men who have made the decisions for them. As a mother it makes me very sad.
My wish is that this could somehow be resolved without any bloodshed. Somehow I think that Mr Bush and Mr Blair aren`t listening.

Love and light

Has anyone seen "platoon"? Is one of the best (if not the best) war film I've ever seen in my life. I think that going to a war that doesn't affect our country directly is something foolish. If we have to protect our country, our home, our family, that's ok, but to go on purpose to another country (like vietnam or iraq) is a very bad thing...

In what come to kill or be killed, it's a matter of human reaction; if you feel frightened, if you're in the jungle and you feel that someone is pointing a gun at you, than you shoot. It's as simple as that... the problem start when we realise that we shot a 10-year old boy.... or a young woman.... even though we know that the 10-year old boy or the woman had a gun in their hands and they were surely going to kill you, it must be a never-ending feeling of disbelief and inside pain.

I'm totally against war; it should be the ultimate resource... always

There are thousands, perhaps more that say the same prayer every day at 12 noon. May there be peace, love and unity on earth. So many of us feel helpless, but this is the one thing we can all do that may have the biggest impact on the turmoil in the world now. Sending this energy out to the universe with others at the same time can change things. It is all about elevating the frequency of love, of the positive.

Ramses, gee I've missed your posts! Glad to see you back!

This is an interesting post for me. I really get upset with the perponderence of War movies - and believe me, with a hubby who watches them *all the time* (this is not an understatement), I see alot of it.

I've had uncles & great uncles in the wars - Vietnam, Korea, WW2 - most of them spent alot of time after words finding ways to forget, which seems to tell us who have been fortunate enough not to have had to go to war that it *does* damage their souls, on some level. To me, there is nothing "glamorous" or noble about killing other humans because of political decisions or religious beliefs differ. And watching these men in my life, I'd have to say they agreed, on some level. Otherwise, why spend time exploring various ways to escape the memories? Why try to atone at all?

I'm not suggesting everyone who has been to war does this, but this is my observation of those in my family. It did and does damage us. how could it not?

And just this morning, I was saying to hubby did he realize we'd been living under the threat of war for almost, gosh 9 months? That it had inundated our lives? I feel like we have been held prisioners to an agenda we have no input or control over - and I've had enough.

Just as a counterpoint, try to catch the movie Ghandi with ben Kingsley again, if you have a chance.
